and there she
Chatterbox: Inkwell
and there she
and there she stands...all alone.
the deck of cards that decrees fate...the stars that fly so beautifully in the sky.
we don't have to follow the rules.
oh, and how she misses him, how they used to dance in the soft rain, the pitters and the patters of the clouds above...
and it's ironic, how they used to laugh in the clouds tears and laughed at how the clouds were crying but THEY, they were laughing and how they promised to be together forever and how they promised they wouldn't ever cry in the rain...
how they promised each other that they would comfort each other, how they promised each other that their future would hold each other...
but promises were made to be broken.
and he, he left her, standing all alone, in the rain, tears streaking down her cheeks like raindrops and nobody can tell the difference, and he, he left her, for another girl, and she, she understands that he didnt want her, her broken soul like shards of mirrors scattered around...and when she looks, all she sees is herself, plain hair, plan eyes...plain.
and she looks up, and she sees her, sunlight striking her hair, eyes sparkling brightly, and she sees him, laughing like they used to together...
BUT PROMISES WERE MADE TO BE BROKEN.
and the girl, the girl stands there, in front of it all, and she lets it happen. her world may crash and burn...
she looks at the bloodstained petals covering her desk...white roses, his favourite.
but she is already ashes, scattering along the wind.
~----~
a man kneels in front of a grayed tombstone which is covered with leaves, eyes blurred with tears. he sets down a bouquet of roses, tied together with a satin ribbon.
"im sorry, elaine. i wish we could've had more time..."
and as he steps down the hill, the wind blows away the leaves, and the words engraved are visible.
ELAINE LUMIERE SOL.
