Windport High School is a relatively nice school, in a relatively nice town. It's the classic, 'somewhere on the west coast' town, all warm sunlight and after-school beach trips and pretty cafes nearby. Yea, it's pretty nice.
Some of the students though, are a little bit ... different.
Welcome to the real Windport, a town full of old magic, interesting people, and ancient legends.
And sometimes, those three things may just coincide.

Heya! Here's another solo write I decided to spontaeneously make, hopes are that I actually write more than one post for this one! Fill out the character sheet if you want to join, and you can have up to two characters! I may tweak your characters just a little, for plot's sake, just thought I'd put that out there XD

Aleka glanced at the paper crane she was folding. It was English class, and she already knew the material. Only ten more minutes to lunch, and then she would wander through the long hallways and sunny rooms, until she made it to the cafeteria.
Windport had many rules concerning where they could be at any time, but Aleka herself had only three rules for traversing Windport K-12 School.
Rule number 1: Don't go beyond the field perimeter.
Beyond the fence surrounding the grassy field out back, there laid a birch forest. Aleka had never gone in that birch forest, and never would. It was almost eerie how the mist seemed to cling to the trees, even in blazing sunlight, and it smelled like magic.
Rule number 2: Don't use the lockers.
They were too easily accessible, the locks too easy to pick. Aleka didn't trust them.
Rule number 3: Do not talk to the people who sit in the center of the cafeteria.
There was a round table in the center, and it was always occupied by the exact same people. They were popular, liberal, and dangerous.
Aleka knew for a fact that the people in the center didn't follow the coven's rules. And that made them dangerous to be around.
"Miss Benjamin, please focus. I'm assigning the homework."
Aleka glanced up to the board, where Mx. Cara was standing. She nodded mutely. Mx. Cara was nice, but they were very particular about assigning homework.
"Got it, sorry," Aleka said.
Aleka glanced up at the clock once more, as Mx. Cara turned back to the board. It was 11:11.
Make a wish, she thought wryly–it was a bit of advice her mother had passed down to her.
Impulsively, Aleka straightened the folds of her paper crane, and blew on it. The wings fluttered to life, with a slight crinkling of paper, and the crane darted away, zipping through the desk legs and chairs and people and backpacks.
I wish something interesting would happen.

"So, how was math?" Neity asked, tossing a grape into the air, and catching it neatly in her mouth.
She was sitting in the center of the cafeteria, her feet propped up on the table, with Quill, Tsuki, Oliver, and a tiny sixth grader that she had already forgotten the name of.
"Multi?" Quill asked.
Neity rolled her eyes. "Yes, multi-variable calculus, if you really want to show off that extra math skill you have."
"I've got three years on you, you're still in seventh grade," e laughed, "and anyways, it was alright. The sub was okay, they let us go out to work, so I didn't really learn much."
"Oh, cool. Remind me what your name was?" Neity asked, directing the question to the black-haired sixth grader.
She mumbled something.
"Come again?"
"Maelynn, but you can call me Maylee," she repeated.
Neity nodded. "Cool. Hey, why are you here again?"
"Don't be rude!" Tsuki exclaimed, kicking her under the table, and then added curiously, "But yea, who invited you?"
Oliver raised a hand sleepily, a vaguely smug smirk on his face. He was a tenth grader as well as Quill. "I did."
"And ... why?" Quill asked.
"Her last name's Paul."
Neity stared at Oliver blankly. Who knew what he was up to this time. "And that's relevant because?" Quill continued.
"Paul. You know, the guy who can talk to animals? He looks just like her. My bet's that Maylee can too."
Neity glanced at Maylee, who had frozen midway into biting a sandwich.
So she was magical too?
There were definitely a lot of magical people at Windport, and Neity had thought she knew them all, but apparently not.
There was Quill, and e was able to shapeshift. Like, look like any person e wanted. E impersonated es homeroom teacher once, and it had been an entertaining disaster. Neity didn't even know how it worked, but it worked, and well.
Oliver was a thief, a literal thief. He could steal life energy from anyone and anything, which meant that he didn't need to eat or sleep, or exercise. He could probably get away with not breathing, if Neity was being honest. Because of that, his diet consisted solely of sugar.
Tsuki was a moonlight nymph of some sort, and Neity still didn't know the full extent of her powers, but they were pretty cool.
Neity, herself, was a shapeshifter–but, you know, with animals.
There were other people at Windport with magic, of course–Aleka, and some others, but Neity didn't associate with them.
So why hadn't she heard of Maylee?

Name: Absinthe Larkspur
Grade: 10th
Personality: Comes off as very sweet and bubbly, but holds a lot of resentment and will do anything to protect those she loves.
Appearance: Dyed dark silver hair, usually in messy space buns; purple eyes; short, curvy body frame; pale skin, light freckles; dark academia aesthetic.
Pronouns: She/her
Magical Power: Can create poisons from any ingredients, can deactivate poisons, can cure most poison-related ailments, immune to poisons. She mostly works with herbs and edibles, though certain materials, such as most natural materials and metals can also be turned into poisons. She mostly uses solanine, arsenic, and cyanide, but since she can manipulate the chemical structure of most materials, she'll use whatever's on hand. She can't really manipulate the physical capabilities of her poisons, though if the poison she's using is in a gaseous form, she can manipulate it to waft over to a certain person or area. The poisons can have psychosomatic effects, and can kill, though she doesn't like killing people with her poisons. She can manipulate the strength of her poisons to a certain extent, if she wants to kill someone or merely render them unconscious, and so on. She doesn't feel much physical strain when creating the poisons, or when using a poison made by somebody else, but if using/manipulating a poison she's made, she feels a watered-down version of whatever the poisoned person is feeling.
<Sorry this was so long! She basically just has poison creation and manipulation powers.>
Other: Shipping's open to anyone, recently moved from New Engand, loves stargazing and black tea.
