Chatterbox: Inkwell

NaNoWriMo plot for this year. I NEED IDEAS.

When Cecilia was eight years old, she was playing with a ball in the Great Field near her village. She went to close to the Cleft (which is a huge cave that is said to be cursed) and dropped her ball, which rolled into the cavern. She ran after it, disregarding everything she'd ever been told, and entered the Cleft.

The cave was dark, but an odd bluish light seemed to eminate from the walls. Cecilia crept deeper and deeper, moving quietly and following her ball. At last the incline leveled out into a great cavern, draped with stalactites. In the center of the cavern was a deep pool that glowed blue. The ball rolled over to the edge of the pool, and Cecilia ran after it. As she reached the edge she looked into the water.

Deep within the pool lay a unicorn.

It appeared to be asleep. Ball forgotten, Cecilia gazed in fascination. It was beautiful, and shining.

Then the unicorn opened its eyes and gazed up at her. "Free me," it said.

Cecilia gasped and jerked back. Seizing her ball, she fled back up the path and out of the Cleft, back across the field and into the village. But the memory of the unicorn's eyes stayed with her all throughout her life. Now she's thirteen and has decided to return to the Cleft (despite it being forbidden) and see if the unicorn is still there...

And that's as far as I got. Ideas? Please?
