Tony glanced at the rather sharp sword. "I don’t like pointy things sticking at me,” he said.
“Oh yeah?” Marren demanded. “Well you’d better run like a squirrel or you’ll find a few pointy things sticking in you.”

Marty shrugged. “Thank me later.” He jabbed his finger at the deck below. “Big battle going on down there. I’ve been instructed to stay out of it.” He waggled an eyebrow at Tony.
“Ooh, me too!” Tony drew his short sword. “Let’s go!”

Tony stood above him, waving his arms. “Okay, alright there. Clear out,” he shouted. “You can see I’m nothing to mess with! I never used to clean up my room.”
Marty tried to untangle that one and failed miserably.

“I won’t hurt you,” he promised it. “I just want to look at you.”
The fish plainly didn’t believe him. It poked its head out, said, “Yeah, right,” and vanished under the water, leaving Marty very spooked.
“Heat hallucinations,” he decided. “I did not just meet a talking fish.”

Tony shrugged, offering a small smile. “Looks like we’re done for,” he said cheerfully. “Nice knowin’ you.”
“WHY IS EVERYTHING A JOKE TO YOU?!” Marty yelled.

He expressed his anger instead by kicking at a VERY BLAMEWORTHY Rattlebush, only to hear Tinkle’s annoying imaginary voice telling him that he needed to respect the plants, that they’d been around much longer than him!
“WON’T YOU SHUT UP?!” Little Red yelled at her. Felice jumped.
“Me?” he said.
“No,” Little Red said, having some difficulty explaining exactly who he was yelling at. “The voice in my head.”
“You’re hearing voices in your head?” exclaimed Felice, making an apparently-involuntary movement towards the Healer’s House.
“NO! I mean, yes,” Little Red attempted, “but not really.”

Aaah yay!!
I wrote a scene I absolutely love yesterday (first day of NaNoWriMo...) so here are a couple from that:
~
"There's a place in the woods I found a couple days ago," Ainnir eventually said.
"No way, a place? In the woods? You've really outdone yourself this time, Ainnir," Jayden murmured.
~
"I didn't try it yet."
"You didn't??"
"No, I wanted to do it with you."
He blinked.
"You know, so I can push you in to test for sharks," she added a little hurriedly.
~
"Talking to Neeft and Tahl."
"About..."
"A bunch of things."
"Like..."
He glanced up to meet her concerned, curious brown eyes. "You're nosy, you know that?"
"Yes. So..."

I decided Alex had had enough for today. “Do you want to do something fun now?”

Alright more because yes -
Even so, she was about to turn and run when she felt a sharp pain in the back of her neck, and everything went dark.
~
The silence grew and stretched until it felt like you could cut it with a knife.

“Hi! Are you really a felinid? That’s so cool. Can I touch your ears? Have you met any others? Wait, of course you have. Duh. Anyway, I’m called Pretzel because I love pretzels. Amy makes the best. I’m good at climbing, too. What’s your favorite color? Mine is brown, because, you know, pretzels.”

The trees were duller, more gray, and the more they stretched up, trying in vain to reach the sunlight, the more their leaves blocked the light on the ground. The branches cast shadows in strange shapes on the path before them. A nobbin bird called, its singsong, slightly eerie cry making the companions shiver.

These are all from the first draft of my story which I scrapped for the second time in favor of a better plot
