What kind of names? Do you want more modern 'normal' human names, like Jack or Elizabeth, or more fantasy names, like Conchur or Mairin? Or more animal-ish names like Silver or Snickers?
I have been collecting names from the last two categories, and now have lists like two pages long :D

The fantasy and animal category would be most welcome!

Oh yes, the terrible situation of "I have no idea what to name this awesome character." No worries! I actually use websites that were designed for parents choosing names for their babies to come up with names for my characters all the time. I'd recommend just googling something like "girl names" (or whatever kind of gender you're looking for) and clicking on a website- a lot of them organize them so you can see if you're looking at "classic names" or "uncommon names" so you can find what you're looking for easily. Also, remember that there's not any pressure! Sometimes when I create a character, I'll do something like this:
Characters for my story:
(Name TBD, female)- the fun-loving best friend of Millie.
So that I remember the gender I want for a character before giving them a name. Or I'll give the character a simple, temporary name so I can still write the story while I wait for some good names to come to mind like this:
Janet (real name TBD)- the fun-loving best friend of Millie.
Hope this helps, good luck!

Kiana, Isfahel, Mitross, Mongind, Larith, Moira, Cree, Kayden, Brid, Atrix, Ophiar, Ahsamal, Iharad, Krashan, Vitior, Iradriss, Irnas, Jutaz
Summer, Doodle, Dragonfly, Dryad, Keeper, Anchor, Amigo, August, Dove, Duchess, Falcon, Pepper, Shrapnel, Sphinx, Lullaby, Everroar, Cobra, Volcano, Supernova, Pinewing, Owlshine, Darkfrost
And yeah, like Periwinkle said, I recommend looking online. Playing around with the letters of words, names, or terms in books can also result in good things. One of my favorite tricks is replacing an i with a y because it makes it sound more mysterious and fantasyish. Like making dragon dragyn, or worm wyrm. Or adding an e at the end. Hope this helps!

...just realised dragon doesn't have an i...duh... or worm...*facepalms* I guess you can replace any vowel with a y

I agree with MoonKitten, playing around with the spelling of names is a great idea to get something unique. I also suggest taking inspiration from people you know. For example, if your character reminds you of someone you know, say, Ruby, then take the name and change it to what it makes you think of. So since a ruby is a jewel, you might make your characters name Jules. Another idea is to think of a first letter you really want to use, say E, and brainstorm what E word make you think of your character. So if your character made you think of an evergreen tree, then you might make the name Even, so on so forth. I hope this comes in handy!
