Just a couple questions: do you have a preferance for gender or age?  And: what world is this story set in (a modern world, sci-fi world, middle ages world, etc.), could you elaborate?  This will help evryone make a character more specified for your story.

Name: Dusti Emberheart

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Personality: Kind, courageous and thinks the best of others, but brave and clever. Can be very sarcastic. Her parents and aunts and uncles are all thieves, and are feared, so she has hardly and friends. She loves animals, especially birds. She wants to be a writer, but is constantly told to just follow in her family's footsteps.

Appearance: Long dark brown braid, dark brown eyes that sparkle in the sun, suspicious smile. Wears patched up grey short-sleeved dress, baggy black pants, big boots and red scarf. She's thin from not having enough food. 

Quirks: I'm not sure.

Skills/abilities/powers: can control water, but she has to suppress her magic from her family. She can also read minds, but that's a harder ability for her. 

Backstory: She has little to no friends because of her family being feared thieves. Dusti wants to be a writer, but her family wants her to be like them. She suppresses her powers around them, but it's hard to do that so she practices when she's alone. When she was little, maybe three or four, her older brother was taken to jail for stealing, and she feels terrible when someone mentions it. She wants to get him back, but doesn't know how.

Pronouns: Female, she/her (would be open to shipping with a serious, stoic girl)

Personality: Outgoing, pushy, a chatterbox (haha, not exactly the good kind), loud, makes snap-judgements and is stubborn about... Well, everything; can be a bit of a hypocrite, isn't shy about sharing her opinions(even if they're controversial or offend someone), often refuses to change her opinion on people or first-impressions, seems less mature than others her age, tends to frame things in a black-and-white manner and has a hard time accepting the "grey" of morality, doesn't like actually giving information about herself and compulsively lies when she does, appears to have no sense of shame or embarrassment, a jokester/always trying to make people laugh, easy to annoy, will be offended of you treat her differently because she's a girl, is secretly actually really scheming and sort of scary when she's serious, is essentially a completely different person when she's in business-mode, can be a tad jaded or existential with people she absolutely trusts, low-key hates herself but covers it up with humour and shifting the blame

Appearance: She's Chinese but can pass as European; Rounder ice blue eyes(sometimes wears dark contacts to make them look brown), long glossy strait black hair(often in ponytail), lighter tone of skin, small lips and nose, left ear has a set of four simple black earrings (starting from lobe, lining the inner helix), is short and delicate-looking although she's used to hard physical labour

Quirks: Compulsive lying, incredibly good at acting(like, it seems like she's flipped into a completely different person), is a bit of a tsundere (in the sense that she's too proud to admit that she doesn't hate someone as much as she used to/lets on), is good at telling if someone is trying to swindle someone else, believes in Chinese superiority(Um, medieval Europe was faring way worse than the Tang dynasty, to be fair)

Skills/abilities/powers: Aforementioned deception and deception-detection, intimidation, weaseling information out of people without them noticing, the uncanny ability to annoy people out of their minds, relating with but disliking a person at the same time, blending in with a crowd, thieving

Backstory: Although she'll never admit it, she was likely born to poor parents. Perhaps they fell into ruin or perhaps they were simply your everyday peasants, we'll never know. However, this gave her a burning hatred for the rich, and is one of the reasons why she became so good at acting, lying, negotiating, predicting an opponent's moves and gauging reactions. She's used to bargaining and having to defend herself on the streets, as well as working for whatever she needs. Although, if given the chance, there's no way she won't take the easy way out with some rediculously complex plot(that always seems to work out somehow). She honestly hates most people for some reason or another, and will constantly complain to mask her dissatisfaction with herself.

Personality: secretive and shy at first but great when you get to know her

Appearance: pale-ish skin, dark red hair that goes dowin to about the middle of her back, deep blue eyes
