Little Lost Library
Chatterbox: Inkwell
Little Lost Library
Little Lost Library
Hello Everybuggy! This is sort of a role play type of story. It's inspired by "Daydreams Cafe" by Miss Plum, which I absolutely loved, and the CBers' response to the "Daydreams Cafe." Enjoy!
You look around at the mysterious mist surrounding you. You have no idea where you are, and you're sure you were in the Chatterbox just a moment ago. You decide the best option would be to walk forward and hopefully find something or someone you recognize.
After walking for what feels like forever, you see a figure in the mist. Racing forward in hopes this person can tell you where in the world you are, you smile. Finally, someone else. When you get close enough to the figure to see it, you are slightly disappointed that you don't recognize this person at all. Her hair is blond, and her eyes are blueish- purple. An owl flutters in ther air next to her. She smiles at you. "Hello," she says. "I'm Periwinkle." "Periwinkle?" You repeat. "That's a cool name." Her smile widens. "Thank you, my friend!" You remember your mission to find out where you are. "Can you please help me? I need to know where I am!" Periwinkle looks at you with a twinkle in her eyes. "You are standing outside of The Little Lost Library," she answers, pointing to the tall brick building next to you. "Oh." You say. For a moment of two, there is a silence between the two of you. "Well, aren't you going inside, then?" Periwinkle asks. You are curious about what is inside, but still hesitate. "Will you come with me?" You ask. Periwinkle smiles sadly. "I cannot, my friend. But you will recognize some people inside. Best of luck!" You walk inside before you can chicken out. Inside, you are surrounded by giant bookshelves filled with books. Each bookshelf has a bronze ladder leaned against it. You grab a book and sit down at a table, with a few friends you recognize...
So, Everybuggy, what is your book about and who are you sitting near? Have fun and thanks to Miss Plum for inspiring me.

"I'm MoonKitten," I say with a smile. "I'm also she/her. It's nice to meet you" I'm making myself a cup of peppermint tea when a cat and an owl come in. They quickly leave, and then a girl comes in with a flurry of words. Before I can say anything, she disappears, leaving me to sit down slowly on a cushy violet chair and look at Wreeboo. She seems just as bemused by the visitors. "So... this is an interesting place," I comment. "What do you think about it?"

I watch Periwinkle wak away, aurrounded by mist.
"Huh. Welp, I guess I'll just--OOF!! Ok, who in the whole wide stinkin' world would put a door there?!" I said, walkin' into a door.
I walk into the LARGEST LIBRARY I'VE EVER SEEN! I look at all of the books, and I slowly pump my fist into the air.
"I'm gonna be SOOOOO busy!" I said, as I walked towards a book shelf.
I saw a book, that glowed. I picked it up, and saw it was labeled "The Big Book of Minecraft Mods, Including Mob Mods, Food Mods, and Every Single Minecraft Mod There Is".
I started flipping the pages, and I sat down next to another CBer. Magestic Mary, I think.
"Hey." I said to her.
"Oh, hi. What's that?" She asked me.
"Oh, this? It's a book about all of the Minecraft Mods EVER! I'm REALLY into mods, and I'm still tryin' to get my own laptop, so I can get some. I think The Twilight Forest, Biomes'O Plenty, and others would be GREAT for me!" I said, readin' the food mod section.

A fire is crackling in a dark room. A woman is sitting a desk. Her face is out of view because her desk is piled high with books, but it's obvious she's there for unexplainable reasons. She's not talking, she's not sitting up to make herself taller than the books, she's not doing anything to make herself noticeable, but she is most definitely there, writing away in The Endless Notebook. There is a bookshelf built into the wall across from her and two armchairs in from of the fire. There aren't any windows in this room. It's honestly kind of creepy how dark it is in here, especially considering the woman sitting in it is a warm, bright, intelligent young woman and is so very different from the room she is in. Perhaps she is thinking about this, as after a moment she gets up, before sitting down again and quickly jotting something down in The Endless Notebook, then getting up again. It is still too dark to see her face. All that can be made out is that she has a bun in her hair. "Maybe," she says aloud to herself, her light, sweet voice soaring, "I should take a visit to my library." She turns across the room. "Want to come?" A brown barn owl flutters over and rests on her shoulder. "Okay, then," she says, slowly walking to the portal. "Let's go."

I close my book, finished. How long have I been in here? I wonder. I stand up from my bean bag and stretch, then bend down to pet an orange shorthair cat who is rubbing their head against my leg.
"Hello?" I call out into the endless depths of the library. A moment later, I hear a voice saying something, but I can't make out the words. Quickly, I scramble down the ladder and run back across the shelf. "Hello?" I call again. I look around, waiting for a reply.

This is short. oops. @periwinkle, I love this thread and the whole idea of it! :D To get it to attract more attention, I might suggest that you ask the admins to change the title of the thread to "The Little Lost Library," or something of the like, because a thread with a name may draw more people. Obviously it's up to you, but that's just a suggestion. In the meantime, I'll be enjoying the silence of the little lost library.

Thank you, Majestic Mary! I would like to ask them, but I do not know how since I am still fairly new to the CB. Do you know how?
Thanks again for the suggestion and I'm happy you like this idea :)
I gave the thread the suggested title when I saw this message. I hope you're OK with it.

A tentative 'hello' echoes from the depths of the library. I walk quietly to the door, and step out. There's a gray cat there. It looks like he was waiting for me. He pads up to me and rubs up around my ankles. I bend down to scratch his neck, but he ducks and goes a couple of feet away. The cat looks back at me and meows. I tilt my head. "If you say so..." I say, and start to follow him. He leads me confidently through the maze of shelves. It's only then that I remember the 'hello' that brought me out of the secret room. I call back and wait for a response, still following the cat. I hear footsteps coming towards me. Wait - they seem to be coming from... above? Interesting. Busy thinking about that, I forget to keep an eye on my guide. When I look up, the cat is gone, but at the end of the aisle I'm in is a portal - well, what I always imagine a portal looking like - swirling with blue and purple colors. As I watch, a tall woman with an owl sitting on her shoulder steps out of it.

Hope this is okay...
Periwinkle/Admins, thanks so much for changing the title!
Twiga says <zgend>... Legend? Zebra legend? Hmm...

The woman looks at you. She has chestnut hair in a bun, golden brown skin, round golden glasses, blue eyes with flecks of gold, reddish pink lips, and rosy cheeks. She is wearing a navy dress and reddish maroon heels. She smiles. "Hello! You must be MoonKitten. I'm The Librarian. Please forgive the cat for leading you here... he can be a little, uh, pushy sometimes." She chuckles. "He has a good heart, though. Much like River... very talkative, but a kind soul with potential to be an author someday." She smiles again. "I apologize. Here I am, blabbing on, not even asking you if you've been enjoying your visit here! Have you?"
(February 19, 2021 - 4:58 pm)
"H-hello," I stammer, tripping over the words. "Yes, I love it here! How did it start? It's nice to meet you. I don't mind the cat. I met River earlier. I think. It was kinda hard to understand her. Um. Does your owl have a name?"
(February 20, 2021 - 2:23 pm)
"I'm so happy you like it here! But I don't really know how it started... this library is older than me! According to the Endless Notebook, The Orginal Librarian and his group of Dreamers, who used to be called Dream Builders, built this library and slowly started adding books to it. Eventually, a little bit of magic managed to make its way in here. Now, generations of Dreamers and Librarians have built it up to what it is now, though it would simply be a pile of bricks if it weren't for our wonderful Readers. Oh, and if you couldn't understand her enough to be sure if her name was River, it was very likely to have been River." She looks at her owl. "I guess I've never really named him. I should probably mention he is, uh, immortal. Remember how I was talking about magic in the library? Well he just wandered in with it one day, and he's been here ever since." She looks back at you. "Why don't you name him?"
(February 20, 2021 - 2:46 pm)
"Wow, that's amazing!" I exclaim. "Wait - me? Really? Let's see... How about Firewing?"
