Good idea! We haven't had a thread like this in a while. Here's the first chapter of my book, if anyone wants to read it! 

The Archer, Chapter One 

I stalk through the forest, my elven longbow close at hand. Snow has started to fall, but I don't even notice it. My hand is hovering above the quiver of arrows on my hip-- I just heard movement in the trees. A deer, perhaps.

And it’s almost time for dinner.

Suddenly, my pointed ears detect a sound behind me.

I whirl around to see a woman in a black dress. Her auburn hair is pulled into a bun, and she wears a pleasant smile.

“What do you want,” I ask suspiciously.

She smiles. “You look tired, traveler,” she says. “I wondered if perhaps you would like a place to rest.”

“I am Ashryn, the caretaker of these woods,” she explains. “I run an inn nearby, and I offer shelter to those passing through the woods. It is nearly nighttime, and the dangers of the woods could easily overcome a lone traveler. Even one with a weapon like yours. And the snow has started, as well.”

It is snowing, I realize, and it’s almost night. I hadn’t thought about shelter --  I'd hoped to reach the village by now.

So, reluctantly, I tell Ashryn, “I accept your offer of shelter, caretaker. Your kindness is appreciated.”

Ashryn smiles. “This way, traveler.”

She leads me to a two-story stone building with a carved oak door. I see light coming from behind the curtained window, and I can faintly hear a chorus of song from inside. Ashryn opens the door.

Inside, there appears to be a tavern of sorts. In the corner, a dwarf leads a drinking song while playing a mandola. Elves, dwarves, and humans alike are heartily joining in from all over the room.

“Have a seat,” says Ashryn, gesturing towards a long wooden table. I nod, obliging.

“I just made some shepherd’s pie this morning. I’ll go get you some, traveler,” she says, smiling. She hurries off through an open doorway, which leads to a kitchen.

After a minute or so, the door opens. Snow blows in, and a dark-haired man in a fur cloak enters. A few of the inn’s customers wave enthusiastically in his direction. He waves back, but he looks preoccupied.

“Hello,” I greet him, smiling despite my wariness.

“Hello, elf,” he says. He sits down across from me, brushing snow from his long hair. “Tell me, why are you passing through these woods?”

I narrow my eyes. Why is he so interested in me? I'm simply a traveler. “I was searching for shelter in the nearby village. I'm not currently busy," I tell him cautiously. 

He nods. "Perfect." 

"What do you want from me, anyway?" I ask him. 

He smiles. "I need an archer." 

Here's one that I'm working on:

Chapter One:

"Why, repeat, why are we even flying to Egypt? I mean the pyramids are awesome, but there are snakes and..." Em droned on and on about the bad things in Egypt. I rolled my eyes and I looked at Mandy, my friend and at Em again. Wait, hold on! Where are my manners? My name is Bradley. Like I said, Mandy is my friend and Em is my other friend. Em... Well... she's kinda like a toddler--Make that a baby T-Rex-- On steroids. I looked at the ocean below us. Since the three of us were flying on a private jet, I took a quick nap. But then I was woken up by Em shouting about something. "SNAKE!!! AAAHHHHHHHH!!!" She screamed, shaking me hard. "Relax, it's rubber!" Mandy said, picking up the rubber snake. "Oh. Mr. Snakey, I was wondering where you were! How dare you get out of my bag and scare me half to death!" Em said, holding the snake and talking to it. She has a wild imagination. A half hour later, we finally landed, and we saw two people standing by the plane. "Greetings! I am Mila and this is my brother, Miles." The woman said, pointing to the guy next to her. We shook thier hands, but Em, being the way she is, started interviewing them. Since Egypt was about 86 degrees sometimes, we were all wearing T-shirts and shorts. And Em added some "Fashion Flair" and added a light shawl with some tassels on the ends and a hair barette. "Oh, Bradley. Your hat is kinda leaning to the side." Mandy said, pointing to my hat. I fixed it and climed into the Land Rover. it was a long trip but soon we were in a small city near the Nile. "This.Is.AMAZING!!! Look at the cute camels!! And the goats! Ooooooooh! Jewelery!! I have some money so I'll be right back. In about an hour! Bye!!" Em said, hopping out of the van and heading to get some jewerly. Mandy and I headed into our hotel room and set our bags down on the floor. I pulled out a map of Egypt. The main reason why we were there is because the Sunset Valley Museum was losing money and our only chance to save it was to get the Lost Collar of Cleocatra, Cleopatra's cat. Legend has it that Cleopatra got the Collar but her cat was jealous that it wasn't handed to a cat. She attempted to steal it but Cleopatras puppy barked at the cat, and Cleopatra made dogs man's best friend. I assumed that it was just a legend, but my dad insisted that I had to go. My dad is the museum director. So I took Mandy and Em with me. "I'm ba-a-a-a-a-a-a-ack!!!!" Em sang as she entered the room. "Ok, how much jewerly did you buy?" I said, putting ym hands on ym hips. "I don't know." Em said looking and anything in the room avoiding my eye contact.

Eh, I would post my story here, but I already have a thread for it that I've posted the first two chapters on... By the way, AW and Emekittycon, interesting stories! I can't wait to hear more.

~Chapter two~

"Why, hello again! Did you hear the whispers?" Liza asked me as I walked towards her booth. "Yeah, I did. Where are they coming from?" I asked her, as I kept an eye on Rascal. "Come with me. I'll tell you." Liza said, walking towards the hotel. I was confused why we were going there. 'Hmmmm... Wait, this is where Mandy, Em and I are staying!' I thought to myself. Liza actually walked towards a fountain near the hotel and pressed a secret button. Then, a secret passage opened up. Liza walked into it, so I followed her. It was dark. And damp. Super damp. "Do you have a heater in here along with water? Because there is too moisture in the air right now." I said, adjusting my hat. "Don't worry. It's perfectly normal here. Did you that snakes actually LIKE this kind of habitat. Well, at least the ones in Egypt." Liza said. "Ok, not the kind of vacation I planned. This went south real quickly." i said, avoiding a spider web. Then, the spider leaped in front of my face. I screamed and Liza picked it off from my face. "Thanks! I am terrified of spiders!" I said, as Liza lead me to a small room. I gasped as I saw millions of snakes that were cobras, king snakes, rattlers, and diamond back snakes. "This is the Snake Room. I experiment with snakes and see if I can create an anti-venom for people who get bit. But, with Rascal, it went south and his bite actually turns people into snakes within 24 hours. Well, half snakes. People with snake tails and fangs. That's it. So what time did he bite you?" Liza said, pulling out a small notepad. "About... Hmmm... Oh! 2:31 yesterday afternoon!" I said. Two snakes coiled around my feet and two more coiled around my arms. "Hey, what are they doing? Liza, call off your snake pals will you?" I said, as a few more snakes wrapped around my legs and arms. One even arapped around my neck! "Liza! A little help here please!" I shouted. "Sorry, Bradley, but it's all according to plan. My snakes will keep you here until Mandy and Em figure out that you're missing. Then when they com looking for you, they'll walk in here and then I'll hold the three of you captive!" Liza said as her snakes pulled me towards a wall with cnains on it. Piza put me in the chains and then a small dungeon door closed in front of me. I held my head down as the sun came up. "Here they come!" Liza said, hiding in a tiny room with the other snakes. "Mandy! Em! Help!!" i yelled as they came in the room. "Bradley!! Where in the WORLD were you?!?!" Em whisper-yelled. "Never mind that, just get me out of here!! Liza's going to trap us in here soon if I don't get out of here!!" I said. "Ok, lemme just pick the lock real quick...Ok, ok, almost there, and...I did it!" Em said, picking the lock with a hair pin. "Let's get out of here!" I said. We all an towards the exit and escaped into fresh air. "Ahh, fresh air! I forgot how good it was."I said, falling onto the ground. Then, everything went black. For a few hours at least. I woke up at 2:29 and remembered what Liza said. "Guys, there's somethign I need to tell you. "Too late,Bradley, I'm too busy listening to this awesome song I recorded at home!" Em said, dancing to her new song that she realeased called "Love is all I Need". She was a famous singer back home.

~Chapter Two Part Two~

"Ok, Em, focus! Go get Mandy and get her here." I said, grabbing Em by the shoulders and looking into her eyes. "Copy that!" Em said, saluting me playfully, then punching me in the shoulder. "Ow!" I said, punching her back. She left the room and the second she did, I looked at my watch and it said 2:30. I sighed and then picked up my notepad and wrote a note and then left the hotel room. I ran towards the fountain and went into the Snake Room. I stood in the middle of it and Liza showed up. "Well, Bradley, you're just in time. Stand here and I'll chain you back up. You're not going to be yourself anymore. Not until I figure out an anti-venom. There we go." Liza said, chaining me back to the wall again. She started to head towards a small chamber and pulled out a necklace that had a cat's eye in the center of it. "The lost collar of Cleocatra!! You're Liza the grave robber, aren't you?" i said, looking at the necklace. "Yes, I am. And you'll never get me in jail!!" Liza said, running towards the exit. All of her snakes followed her. I smiled, but it was cut short by a cold sensation in my legs. Then it turned to pins and needles. I gasped as I saw my legs form into one. "Oh, great!! Just perfect! Dad's gonna be so mad, he'll have me locked up as long as I live!" I said, as my legs faded away. "What else, Bradley? What else did Liza say would happen?" I said to myself as I felt something else. My canine teeth turned into fangs! "BRADLEY!! Where in the whole wide world did he go to?" I heard Em say. She always says that. "I don't know, Em, but I'm sure that we'll find him." I heard Mandy say. "Wait... HOLY COW WHAT IS THAT??!?!?!?" Em screamed as they come into the room."Bradley? What...What happened?" Mandy said, coming closer. "When that snake bit me,Liza said that this would happen. Please don't tell Dad!" I said, trying to get out of the chains. "Ok, ok, chill, Bradley! Lemme pick the lock again... And... I GOT IT!!!" Em said, picking the lock again. I tried to work my new tail, but I fell on my face again. "Ow! Man, that hurt! Sorry. I'm still trying to get used to this... Thing that I have instead of legs." I said, blushing. "Guys, I think I just discovered a secret passage way back to our hotel room!" Em said, climbing a ladder. "Be right there! Is there an elevator around here somewhere? There's no way I'm climbing a ladder with this!" I said, pointing to my tail. I accidentaly wacked myself in the face with it! "Ok, lemme just...Ok, left is right and rught is left. I think. Ow! Nope, it's the other way around." I said. Eventually I got the hang of it and I started climbing up the ladder. When all of us were in our hotel room, Em looked up how to reverse the snake bite. "Hmmm... No, I don't want dancing cats, but I'll check that out later. Hmmm... A DIY video? Nope, not for me at this moment. Maybe later. Oh! Here it is!" She said, showing us the list. "Let's see, finding the snake...No, I can't go out in public like this! Oh, wildly raising my heart rate!" I said, looking at the list. "How can a person wildly raise thier heart rate? Maybe a kiss or a really stong hug or holding thier head underwater for 10 minutes." Em said, looking at me with a look on her face that said 'Let's do the underwater thing!'. I tkinda freaked me out for a bit. "Uhhh, yeah, let's not drown Bradley or squeeze him to death!" Mandy said, also looking at Em. "What?" Em said, with an innocent look on her face. I rolled my eyes and sighed.
