Okay, so I’m entering a creativity contest at my local library, and I’m going to submit a collection of poems I’ve written with illustrations. So, the question is, should I print out the poems or hand write them? Either way I’ll be able to illustrate them, because if I print them out I’ll do it on art paper. I will list the pros and cons of each option below, and you can vote in the comments. (I do have neat handwriting, so legibility is not affected by whether or not I write it out.)
Printing
Pros
- Very neat, straight lines
- Uniform size across all pages
- Letters take up less space
Cons
- Doesn’t look as cool
- Some restrictions on letter style
Handwriting
Pros
- Looks cooler than just printed
- I can do more with the way the letters look
Cons
- Not necessarily uniform size across pages
- Takes up more space that could be used for illustrations
Sorry if you have trouble understanding what I mean by “letter style” or “the way the letters look,” there’s a specific part of one of my poems I have in mind where I want to change the direction the italics are leaning to differentiate it from the other parts of the poem that are in italics, and I can’t do that if I print it out. It’s not a big problem, it just bugs me.

Do you have Photoshop? You might could type your poem out there, and edit the text to slant the other way.
Otherwise, I say hand write! If it's a creativity contest, hand writing seems a lot more creative, to me at least.

I'd say hand write it

I might try doing one poem both handwritten and typed and seeing which version looks better? Otherwise, I think handwritten might be better because of your greater options with how it looks.

I'd go with handwriting. As long as you start with light pencil and go over it later, I think you'll have more control over style and space?

hmm, pretty difficult decision. have you tried asking the people running the contest or a librarian what they think would be better? That might work!
Otherwise, I'd say handwritten, as long as your handwriting is good!

Here is the picture of handwritten. I’m thinking handwriting might be good too.
I haven’t tried uploading pics before, so I’m not sure how it will turn out.
