Help?
So, I'm working on this dystopian novel, and I want a more futuristic name for one of my charries, but I can't figure it out! Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
He was origionally named Alex. He's pretty talkative, witty, and non-serious. He's short with light blonde hair and blue eyes. He isn't shipped because he's fallen for Liv, but Liv and Naomi were made for each other.
(NOTE: I am planning on publishing this one day, so you have to be okay with me borrowing your name suggestion. ANOTHER NOTE: this is dystopia, not fantasy world, so Dragonshadow and Lightrod aren't really gonna fly.) Thanks!

X names always sound exotic and futuristic. Xavion, Xcalibur, Xavier, Xenos, etc.

@Rogue thanks! Xavion and Xenos are my favorties. Top
Boo says iear. No, you are not an ear, though you do have two of them. ...I hope.

I agree with Rogue, X names are always cool, but I'm also a fan of short names, like Av or Bo or Vu. And names with apostrophes also sound interesting and sometimes futuristic, like An'ke or La'et. For your character, I'm just going to spout out names and we'll see if any of them sound good. Feel free to take one or ignore them all. :)
Av, Av'ne, Lux, Al, Sho, Sh'ne, Ne, Ande, Ok'le, Ok, Le, Romne, Om, He'hle, Mono, Lo, Po, Vu

I've read some futuristic/dystopian novels where they take common names and spell them oddly so that they seem different, like Alice into Alys. So you could do Alix, Alyx, maybe some variations of Alexander?
(CAPTCHA says coax, look at that! a real word.)

Hmm... Maybe Axil? Or Axle? Some variation of that?

I personally would name him Char. But that's just me.

Or Enver, on second thought.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! Xavion and Alyx are really standing out to me. They seem to fit with what I'm going for.

Names come back in vogue every hundred years. So if you know what year your book is set, than you can look up names that were popular a hundred years back. If it's too far ahead, let me know, and I can simulate a list with a few known name trends. (E.g, at the moment, certain name trends are unconventional spellings, culturally different, mixing names together, and overall rarer names.)
I hope this helps!

@Cho, it was originally set way too far in the future, so I'm thinking 120-150 years from now? Sorry, I just recently decided to make some major changes to this story and it's kind of taken the back seat to this other story that I'm submitting to be published (the due date got moved back, which is GOOD, because my first version SUCKED and I'm rewriting it).
(May 22, 2019 - 8:34 pm)
Yeah, I understand. Major changes are good! It shows that you've improved and understand what you can make better!
If you want me to round out this list, it would be awesome if you could give me some important events (culturally or historically) that take place in the in-between point, and I can come up with some extra names. :)
I would also suggest changing spelling if a name seems too 'normal', but I would also not advise going crazy with that. I've known a few people who have outlandish spellings for their names, and you pronounce those names very differently. but that's a personal preference. :)
I hope this helps!

Wow, thanks! It's so weird to look at this and see how many of these are names of my classmates...
As for events, there's the basic plot of the story: The USA decided that if they wanted to be succesful, they should focus on only a few cities and make them rich and prosperous while all other civilians are completely ignored. My charries are from a desolate area in Utah. Those mian cities got the benifits of crazy inventions- automaitc tranportation tube systems, crazy AI assistants, ect. Thanks again, this is amazing!

Some names that come to mind: Xander, Axel, Becket, Milo, Kayden, Calum, and Bodhi. You could also just spell "Alex" in a more unconventional way, like Aleks, Alix, or Alecz.
Hope this helps! Good luck with your novel!
