Sanvri. It may

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Sanvri. It may

Sanvri. It may seem a strange world to you, with many known things being flipped upside down as it would seem. Nevertheless, you live here. Mayhaps you are a human, an elf, a dwarf, a gnome, perhaps a halfling, or one of the dragon-kin. No matter who you are, or where you have come from—you will shape the world.

So. Who are you? Are you an elf? The elves are a horse people, and can speak to their horses. The horses live as long as they do—about 300 years. High elves live in cities, raising powerful lines to be the horses of heroes; viri horses. Wood elves live in the wilds as nomads, raising the fleetest, most sturdy horses to walk this earth. However, some high elves speak of splitting: they want to live in mountain halls, as if they were dwarves. They want to breed what they call ‘draft’ horses and smaller, stronger horses. All grown (45 years or older) elves have their own horse, a true friend and partner to them. Chosen from their parents herd, this is how they will start their own line of horses. They tend to live in western wooded Dekita, Tamren, and Hanye.

For each of these, they move to a new island, and take part in a new ceremony. The Ka Moku Moku are always on the move, with most of their livelihood in their canoes. You people of this "inkwell" could call this a 'solo write' crossed with a 'simulator'. I will tell you what happens to your people. At times, you will be required to answer a question in order for me to tell more. Otherwise, that person will be stuck in a time loop. And that’s not fair to them.

I will need the following information to be able to find this person you speak of to track them. Please give me as much information as possible. Some of your answers may end up needing to be adjusted in order to find the person, if you have been accidentally misinformed of a piece of culture, etc, etc.

What is their name?

Race?

Age?

Male or Female?

Where are they from?

Where do they live now?

Who were their parents? (Please, do not be afraid to tell me of half-race heritage.)

What did their parents do for a living?

What relatives of theirs are alive, and which are they in contact with?

What does this person do for a living? (If applicable.)

Do they enjoy their work?

What does this person look like?

Are they married?

Do they have children? (If applicable.)

What is the one thing they want most?

How would you describe their personality? (A trifling detail, if you do not answer, their personality may change and you may not recognize the person, even if I do.)

What skills do they have?

What do they think about magic?

Additional information would be appreciated, but I do not think necessary.

Once this message appears, I will give you the map of the world, so that you might have a better idea of where everything is located. Please, excuse me for giving almost too much detail. I will begin telling you of the history as soon as the first person fully appears. Additional people will be added until I say that’s enough. The tale, too, ends when it ends.

Oh! You were fine, Aquamarine, I was just going to write what you had written into the story as it was so short. I am so sorry about the misunderstanding, I had really liked what you had originally written for Mele. Thank you for the compliment, and I am very sorry that I did not make things clear.

What is their name? Jakren Roshike
Race? Wood elf
Age? 46
Male or Female? Male

Where are they from? Tamren, where he still has the accent from

Where do they live now? Dekita, where he’s lived for 5 years after being forced to relocate

Who were their parents? Kiari and Opkalan Roshike. He had some Akaribon heritage somewhere in his ancestry, unusual do to their history of isolation.

What did their parents do for a living? His mother was a warrior and his father was an artist, but after his mother was killed in battle his father was forced to work in a job that he hated (that I haven’t actually come up with) in order to support them.

What relatives of theirs are alive, and which are they in contact with? He’s only in contact with the distant, high ranking uncle, Vhinyor, and cousin, Rafen, that he was sent to live with - this, unfortunately, did not make him high ranking as well. His uncle is a merchant, and his older cousin is a well-liked warrior who enjoys boasting and is very proud.

What does this person do for a living? After his apprenticeship he became a craftsman

Do they enjoy their work? For the most part, yes

What does this person look like? Dark brown hair and olive skin, with grey eyes. He’s medium height and relatively thin, not particularly good or bad looking.
Are they married? Nope
Do they have children? (If applicable.) Also nope

What is the one thing they want most? His independence, and to gather enough money to return to Tamren and reunite with his father and the others that he had to leave behind.
How would you describe their personality? Mainly quiet, but fierce and prone to random bursts of impulsiveness. Otherwise, likes to think things through before making a decision. Very humble and hates it when people take advantage of him like they sometimes do, but sometimes can’t bring himself to say no. He is somewhat sarcastic but bad at picking up on other people’s sarcasm.

What skills do they have? He’s a good swordsman and a quick thinker, and knows how to survive on his own.
What do they think about magic? He is secretly fascinated by it, though it’s looked down upon by Vhinyor and Rafen.

Accepted. I am assuming that because of his separation from his father he does not have a horse even though he is an adult.

Faolan straightened as his nephew Finnegan came running into the workshop. Faolan smiled, setting down the sword which he had been testing the balance of. “‘Ullo, Uncle!” Finnegan said with a grin. “And what are you up to, you rascal?” Faolan asked, his eyes twinkling at his nephew.
“Coming to see you, of course!” Finnegan laughed. “I finished all of my chores, so I thought I’d come down to watch you work!” Finnegan said. Faolan nodded. “Good lad.” He said. “What are you doing now, Uncle?” Finnegan asked. “Just testing the balance on this sword to finish it up.” Faolan. “Who’s it for?” Finnegan asked, his face becoming serious, but his eyes alight with excitement. He was so very interested in Faolan’s work around the shop, and Faolan had small hopes that perhaps Finnegan would be able to take over later, as Faolan had no interest in ‘settling down’, as his parents hoped. Faolan had taught the boy a decent bit, and would let him do small things with supervision.
“It’s for a Lord Dragon.” Faolan said, gesturing to the sword. “See the fancy hilt? It’s a special request, he’s going to give me one hundred gold pieces for it, twice the price I would normally get for a greatsword like this one.” Finnegan raised his eyebrows in surprise. “Just for a bit of extra work on the hilt?” He asked.
Faolan nodded. “Yes, he said that he needed something special. Silly reason for needing a new sword if you ask me. He should be coming by soon to pick it up.” Faolan said. Finnegan flashed a quick smile at his uncle. “I think he’s one of the advisors to the king,” Faolan said, going back over to the sword. “He’s nothing but a dandy from what I can tell. Just enjoying his life, and never lifted a finger to do an honest day’s work in his life. He didn’t work to get where he is. He inherited it from men who did.” Faolan said bitterly. A well-dressed man on an elf-horse rode up, and calmly dismounted, saying to his horse, “Stay there a moment.” The horse’s ears twitched. Faolan nodded to the man. The man’s dark eyebrows rose, as if confused that this man was not paying him extra respect. Finnegan was bowing, but Faolan ignored the boy. He had to obey his parents.
“Your sword, sir.” Faolan said curtly. The man looked it over, picked it up, and slashed at the air, with a bit of footwork to test its balance. He nodded, setting the sword down on the work table and handing over a pouch of gold to Faolan. The weight was much lighter than it should have been for a hundred gold pieces. “Fifty gold pieces are in that pouch.” The man said.

Faolan shifted his weight a bit.

"Sir," he said with a bit of pressure. "That sword is 100 gold pieces."

The man looked sternly at Faolon. Faolon sternly looked back at him.

"Fifty extra for the engraved hilt. This was the agreed price."

The recipient raised his eyebrows and pulled out a few more coins.

"Make it twenty," he said.

"Im not bartering, sir," Faolon said gritting his teeth. "Fifty is my price."

"Fine then. Thirty more. Im not going any higher."

Faolon regretfully took the coins while the royal smuggly smiled. He took the sword and rode away on his high horse. Finnegan looked surprised at his uncle.

"Yeah, not how I usually conduct buisness. I was this close to giving him a shot..." he sighed, "but we need the money." He shrugged his shoulders and ruffled Finnegans hair.

"Dont learn from me how to conduct business," He chuckled.

Jakren carefully molded the clay with his fingers, applying pressure in the right places, adding bits and pieces of clay, smoothing it out, adding a bit of water—the process was soothing to him, reminding him of his father. The letters were growing fewer, and Jakren felt that he would have to continue living among his high elf cousins until he struck out on his own. He could do it. He was old enough, had a job which was useful, but he kept holding onto the hope that father would come back, and then Jakren would be able to go back to him. Jakren knew the family herd was failing. He hadn’t even picked his own horse, as Uncle Vhinyor said that it should be claimed from his father’s herd, not an uncle’s.
Jakren’s lips tightened at this, and as Rafen came in. “Still playing with mud pots, cousin?” Rafen asked with a rather nasty grin. Rafen appeared to be in a bad temper—and Jakren thought he could guess at the reason. There had been rumors of the Dominion people infringing on elven territory. Some wanted to go to war, but High King Naarven had said that until the Grand Council met again. And the next meeting wouldn’t be for some months yet. Jakren had heard Rafen and his friends talking—they wanted war, and soon.
“Yes, I am.” Jakren said, trying to summon up patience. Rafen sat down in a chair opposite and leaned back. “You know, if you were like poor Cousin Kiari, you might have been more fun. Sadly, you turned out like that Opkalan.” Jakren shoved his thoughts that he deemed unworthy deep down. “And mother was a good woman.” He said, trying to ignore the slight towards his father.
“A good fighter, you mean.” Rafen amended. “Yes, that too.” Jakren agreed. When it came to his mother, it was the only time they could agree. “If only you had a fighting spirit like hers than I could count on—but never mind that.” But Jakren was curious. He set aside his pot. “Never mind what?” He asked. “Well, now that you ask …” Rafen said. He seemed to want to talk.
And Jakren was willing to listen for once. “Listen here.” Rafen began. “The boys and I were wanting to take action against these Dominions. We weren’t sure what exactly we wanted to do, and they wanted me to turn to you. You’re supposed to be brainy or something. And I don’t like it, but we don’t have a better idea.” He spoke fast, as if he found it demeaning to speak to Jakren.

Jakren laughed drily. “You’re asking me for help? You must be really desperate.”

Rafen glared. “Well if you aren’t going to help then nev-“

”Wait, wait no I can help.” Truth be told, Jakren wasn’t too concerned about the Dominions, but he did know that Uncle Vhinyor and Rafen were, and when Vhinyor and Rafen were worried, they got angry, and that never boded well for Jakren. Jakren sighed. High King Naarven would not approve of anyone moving against the Dominions until he had come to a decision, but Jakren hoped that if he held out long enough he would be able to return to Tamren before long.

“If you want to make a real difference, you’ll want to target food sources and make quick attacks before they realize what’s going on, then retreat and attack somewhere else.”

Rafen grinned. “Excellent. Now you’re going come with us.”

Sorry that was kind of long.
