Superpower RP
The age of superheroes ended 20 years ago. Since that time, all new powers have been minimal, allowing the police to easily deal with villains even in the absence of heroes. But then, one day, 48 teenagers across the world receive a letter, which reads:
Greetings and Salutations!
My name is Daniel Storm. You may know me as CEO of Void Corp., the premier superpower research firm. If you didn’t know me, now you do! Introductions are not the reason for this letter, though. I am pleased to offer you a spot in my new private high school. Located in the eastern United State “dead zone” (an area not covered by any satellite), it boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including its own movie theater, water park, and other amenities in addition to top-notch dorms, meals, and classrooms. I don’t neglect the actual teaching, either. I have pulled some of the greatest teachers I could find to staff this high school. Now you may be thinking “so this sounds like a really good school, but I can’t afford anything like that.” Well, it may be expensive, but I’m paying. Yes, you read that right. Void Corp. will pay all expenses, including a private jet to the school, room and board, and meals. Now I bet you’re thinking “Wow! How do I join?” That’s simple. One week after receiving this letter, a Void Corp. private jet will land at the nearest airport to your home. To enroll, just get on that plane! No parents or siblings allowed, though (even I don’t have that much money). I hope to see you all there!
Sincerely,
Daniel Storm

The people receiving this mysterious letter are from all backgrounds, nationalities, and ages. However, all of them have one thing in common: they all have superpowers, powers of a level not seen for 20 years. And their powers will be needed.
Hello! This is my first time creating an RP, so hopefully that introduction made sense. All our characters join Daniel’s school and learn about their powers in the process. Other than that, this can go in any direction. Again, I’m new at this, so please feel free to correct anything I mess up.

My character:
Name: Damion
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Appearance: Damion is about 6’ 1’’, with red eyes and short black hair. His skin is very pale, and glows slightly in the dark. He generally wears casual clothing, but often wears a black cloak to hide his unnatural skin. He also usually carries a small, hand-carved wooden flute with him.
Personality: Damion is a loner, preferring to be by himself. He is indifferent to many things, and tends to be curt and to the point when he does interact with people. However, he is always observing other people and the environment, and knows much more than he lets on. He loves to compose music and play it on his flute, but only does it in private.
Background: Damion does not remember his parents, except that he ran away from them some time ago and that he carved his flue with them. He has lived on his own, drifting across the country and taking odd-jobs for money. When Daniel’s letter (somehow) reached him, he joined the school more for the free dorm and meals provided than for the education. However, he also saw it as an opportunity to learn and increase his chances of finding stable work. He knows he has a superpower, but doesn’t know his true potential.
Power: Damion can control and create light. Basic uses of this power include making directed beams or flashes of light. However, Damion is also able to “harden” light he is in contact with (which he can turn back into normal light). Hardened light acts like a solid material, essentially allowing him to create things like walls and beams out of thin air. In addition, Damion can turn his own body and some other things (such as clothing he’s wearing) into light. While transformed into light, Damion still retains complete control of his body and powers, allowing him to move extremely quickly. In case people think Damion is OP, his power has three main weaknesses: darkness limits the amount of light he can create, any light he creates or controls has to move in a straight line, and normal light must move at light-speed, while hardened light acts like a normal material (e.g. Damion can not create flashes of hardened light, he must continually move while turned into light).

hi Tafinx!
Vanessa~
_______________________________________________________
She scrambled backwards on all fours as Damion light-hardened his hand, her other two hands palms up, as if she could push him away.
"No, no, no! I'm not a villain!" She cried. "I'm Vess- Vanesssssa." Her words slurred akwardly between her fangs, and she squirmed in embarrassment. "Turn off the light-hand, i'm trying to calm down! I got lost in the woods, heard a commotion, and followed it here. I'm just trying to get away from the policemen." Damion lowered his fist, but it remained light.
"Why are the police after you?"
"Apparently I blew up a truck."
"Apparently?" Damion's brow was furrowed in confusion.
"Apparently." She answered. "I've had the police after me six times, and every time they tell me i went insane and attacked something. I don't remember any of my attacks except negative feelings, my mind goes blank, and the next thing i know, i wake up in chaos. Its usually a mix of police cars, ambulances, and screaming people. There's been twenty people in the hospital that are my fault, and i don't rember any of them." She looked up to see what Damion's response would be.

I won't be able to post more for a couple days. Hopefully this is enough.
Damion~
I hesitated for a moment, then returned my hand to its normal state. "All right," I said to Vanessa. "I believe you. Once this attack is over, Principal Terra can figure out what we'll do with you. But right now, I need to get back to helping the students. You probably don't know, but the school is under attack by some villains. You need to get to safety." I pointed out the window to the dorms. "Head over to that building at go to Room 14. One of the other students, Adira, should be there. That's probably the safest place on the grounds right now. Just tell her that Damion sent you, and you should be fine. Just watch out for villains on the way."
Blinking out of the window again, I headed towards the history building. I still wasn't sure about this Vanessa person, but Adira, Alex, and Connor combined should be able to handle her if her story was false. As I headed towards building, I saw a couple students I recognized from orientation. I ran over to them, only to bang my head against an invisible barrier. "Ah, there's another one." Turning towards the voice, I saw a person surrounded by a crackling force field. "You're one of the villains," I said. "And why would you think that?" "You're wearing a skeleton costume. That's about as classic villain as you can get." "You've got me," the villain said, asssuming a fighting stance. "I guess I'll just have you knock you out with the others." I didn't even bother to reply. I just dashed towards the villain.

After Damion blinked away, Vess headed towards the dorms. Once she got to Room 14, she noticed thankfully that she had calmed down enough for her skin and eyes to return to normal, and realized with a curse that she had left her cloak behind. Huffing, she knocked on the door.
A muffled voice came from inside. "Who is it?"
"My name is Vanessa, Damion sent me. I'm assuming you're Adira?"
There was a pause, and then the door clicked open. Vess entered slowly, looking from side to side.
"Who are you... Vanessa?" Adira emerged from behind the doors, a suspicious expression on her face. Vess cringed under her glare, painfully aware of her four arms and her tail. she held up her hands in a diplomatic gesture.
"like i said, Damion sent me."
Adira seemed to relax slightly. "Fine, i guess you can stay. For now. But, if you try to do anything out of the ordinary-"
"Yeah, yeah, i know."

~Connor
Damion flashes away leaving us alone. I sigh. I can't do this. I'm no hero. Damion is strong, Adira is strong, Alex is strong, and I'm i'm nothing.
"I-" Adira starts but I never hear the end of that statement because another bright purple flash blinds me and I teleport to the dark and empty training room.
"Poor Connor" a female voice says "You are without your friends! you're deffencless."
"Who are you?" I yell into the darkness.
"Oh that doesn't matter. What does matter is you. You can't be a hero! You've said it before. You arn't srong enough, you arn't brave enough. In fact Terra said you have a villanous capacity for chaos! You could be one of us."
I shake my head trying to get rid of the memories that pop up. "No" I whisper "I can't"
"Oh but you can. No one has ever loved you. In fact they won't care to lose you!"
"No they care Damion and Alex and Adira, they all care!" I yell. vines slowley wrap around my feet but I don't notice. I'm too angry.
"No they don't Damion is out of pity, Adira because Damion does and Alex because of Adira. No one cares. Not even your own family"
I freeze. That comment hit my heart. The vines are around my waist and start climbing up my arm. I shout in alarm and try to light my hands up but the vines smother the flames. I try to shout again but vines wrap around my mouth.
Help me! Anyone help! please!
I fall over trying to escape. The vines crawl over my vision and over my face.

Hey Nyx! I'd like to point out one thing that you may have not noticed: only the student characters (and yours, Vanessa, who isn't technically a student) are actually individual peoples' characters. The teachers and the villians are all shared characters, so when we write about them, we aren't godmodding, as you called it. That's all!
-- Alex --
I lean against the wall in Adira's room, a pen ready in my hand. I hop to my feet quickly as a knock sounds on the door. Some weird person with four arms and a tail is there. I'd guess that she isn't a villain, but I'm not sure if we should trust her. Sure, Damion does, but Damion isn't me, and he might have made a mistake. So I keep a safe distance from her and watch carefully to be sure she won't turn on us.
But my attention is grabbed by Connor disappearing suddenly. All the rest of us in the room gasp and start talking at once.
"Where did he go?"
"Do you think the villians got him?"
"Should we go looking for him?"
"Are we gonna be taken too?"
I raise my voice above them all. "Guys, there's no point in asking any of these questions. No one else in this room knows anything more than you do. But what I know is that I'm going to look for him."

Tafinx, do you want Damion to meet up with Alex?
(June 5, 2019 - 11:05 pm)

She listened quietly until Alex had finished. "I agree." She murmered, not sure anyone had heard her, but needing to say something.

And, five days later, I'm back.
@Kitten That would be fine. Its your choice.
Damion~
Dashing towards the villain, I hit his shield with a light-fist, which does ... nothing. The villain smiled, pushing me away somehow. I should have known that wouldn't work. He was able to knock out three other students without much effort. I got ready to chrage again, but had to blink away when the villain's shield suddenly expanded, vaporizing some nearby rocks. "You should have just let me take you down," the villain said mockingly. "There's no way you're going to break my Shield. You're lucky you didn't burn your hand off with that last attack." "I don't care how strong your power is," I replied. "I'm not going to stop until I save those students!" Blinking again, I strike his shield multiple times, but don't deal any damage. The villain tried to attack back, but his only attack his expanding his energy shield, and I'm faster than him. But, at this rate, I'll tire much sooner than he will. There's got to be a way to break his shield. My light-fists are able to strike his shield, but can't hit with enough force. There has to be a way to get more force ... Then, the villain lands a hit. It was with a solid shield, not an energy one, but he created it on the fly, catching me off guard. I flew though the air, the air knocked out of me, and landed hard on the ground. I tried to get up, but could barely sit up. The villain walked over, mocking me. " I told you that you couldn't beat me. All I need to do is shrink my Shield, and I get enough force to hit you off your feet. You kindly stay where you are. My master will be interested in you..." I cut him off with a (strained) laugh. "The smaller the object, the stronger the force, right?" I said, smiling, and point my finger at the villain. "My light-fists are strong, but too big. But tell me, how small is a beam of light?" The villain, apparently realizing my plan, created multiple shields around himself, but it was no use. I sent a tiny ray of light from my finger towards him and, at the last moment, harden it. A large explosion blew me back again, shattering all of the villain's shields. I managed to stay conscious long enough to see the villain collapse and the shield around the students disappear before I blacked out.
