CHAPTER 2
""""""""""""""
The school was huge. Not that Seriann hadn't thought it would be big, but it had to be twice the size of what she had expected.
"Looming, isn't it."
Seriann jerked her head around to see a tall girl with short black hair and golden eyes staring at her. She was holding a clipboard and wearing a big blue hoodie.
"I'm Talia Kensie, and I'll be showing you around today. Along with that, I have all of your schedules." Talia began to pass them out to all of the newcomers. Seriann noticed that the front lawn was now deserted, as everyone had gone to their classes.
A distant bell rang as Talia handed Seriann her schedule.
Class 1: Alchemy
Class 2: Math
Class 3: Power Control
Class 4: English
Class 5: Lunch
Class 6: Defense Agaist Dark Magic
Class 7: Astronomy
Class 8: Phy. Ed
Class 9: History
Class 10: Care of Creatures
"Now, since it's the first week of school, you guys will be going back and forth between school and home. Next week, you'll be sleeping here. You return home on weekends." Talia explained. "You'll be shown your room at the end of the week."
A student had raised their hand. She had light brown hair that cascaded down her back and green eyes that shone with confidence. Talia looked at her, and nodded.
"Why do we have to sleep here?" her voice was demanding. Talia looked her up and down, a slightly offended look on her face.
"Because it's a floating island; if you havn't noticed. And it moves. Every night." Talia briskly turned and beckond for the group to follow her.
"Geez. That girl sure is sassy." Seriann turned to see a chesnut haired boy grinning at her. She smiled back.
"Yeah. I'm Seriann, by the way." Seriann let him catch up to her. then they followed Talia through the front doors.
"Crest. Or Cres. I don't care which." they walked through the hallway, coninuting down towards the gym. "So, you got a power yet? I can tell you have wings, but diffrent DNA isn't exactly a power, cause you're born with it.."
"I wish I had a power. My entire family has manifested. I guess better seeing comes with the DNA, right?"
"Yeah, it's still amazing though! Maybe you having bird DNA will let you talk to animals, or have supersenses like your mom, or telekenisis..."
Seriann laughed, glad she finally had a friend.
**After School**
Seriann lay on her bed. It was beginning to get dark. She was exausted from running around the school all day, no matter how fun it had been. She watched the clock, thinking about what on earth her power could be.
Cres mentioned telekenisis. It would make sense if I could make things fly. The talk to anim--
"Whats up, little sis?" Elene had appeared out of nowhere, scaring Seriann.
She jumped back nearly hitting her head on the headboard.
"That's not why it's called a headboard Seriann."
"Well, I'm sorry, but you scared me!"
"The famous Seriann!? Scared!?" Elene exclaimed sarcasticly.
"Shouldn't you be in your room anyways? It's 10:30 already. Mom will never let you text your boyfriend again." Snapped Seriann.
"First of all; I do not have a boyfriend. Shiron is just my friend. Second of all; you're awake too. Mom will never let you go to school!"
"Ugh. Okay, so maybe I'm up wondering what my power is. I think it might be telekenisis, y'know? 'Cause I can fly, so why can't I make other things fly?"
"Wanna test it?" Alex stood at the door, arms crossed and a genuine smile on his face.
"Why is everyone scareing me tonight?" The 11 year old hopped out of her bed and focused her attention on a pencil that was lying on her desk. She concentrated har, willing the pencil to move, but with no luck.
Footsteps could suddenly be heard, coming up the stairs quickly.
"Oh no, it's mom..." Alex groaned. "C'mon Elene, let's go."
An invisible hand grabbed his arm and he closed his eyes. Alex was known for being a sleepwalker, so him walking around at night asleep was... as normal as it could be.
Seriann on the other hand, turned off her light quickly, and jumped into her bed, faking asleep. As soon as she heard the footsteps retreating downstairs, she relaxed.
A fail on the telekenisis, I guess.
Seriann reached over to turn off her lamp, but just as suddenly as her mom coming up the stairs, her vision went black. A swirl of blue began to form, slowly shaping into buildings, and two people sitting on top of one. The image began to fill with color, like a speedpaint.
Seriann recognized one of them: Crest, from school. The other looked about a year older. His face and hands were covered in scars, like the night sky and it's stars.
She slowly tuned into their conversation.
"...thought they said they'd found a cure."
"Cres, I don't think they even knew what it was before it was too late."
Seriann watched helplessly as tears began to fill Crest's eyes. He reached over and hugged the other. Seriann finally realized that she was flying, and if she was flying then that meant they could see her. She tried calling out, tried screaming, yelling, but it seemed to start to cut off her air.
"You better not die, Flay." was the last thing she heard Crest mumble before she was sucked backwards, the scene turning back into the blue mist from before. The blackness was back, and Seriann couldn't breath.
It seemed to be consuming her as she continued to scream, to cry out. But no one heard her. The pain was unbearable... and then the black turned to white so suddenly and Seriann felt light, almost weightless.
Note: I hope you guys liked the chapter! I would love advice, and critisism doesn't offend me, as long as it's not purposfully offending, i.e. anything that is just to harm, not to help. Thanks!:)

Not bad! I enjoyed it! One thing though: You don't have to make a new thread every time you want to make a new post. Just press the 'Add comment' button on the lower-right section of the main post.

Okay! Thanks for the advice, Rouge Wildling.

Ooh, I like it! The one problem I have, and this is probably my fault, not yours, is that I'm having a hard time keeping track of who's who and has which power.
(January 18, 2019 - 1:55 pm)
Wow, this is good! When's the next part coming out?
(January 19, 2019 - 1:52 pm)
Soon! Thanks for reading it! :)
(January 19, 2019 - 8:01 pm)
Here, these are some charecters I've mentioned and their powers:
Seriann ~ kinda a mystery, but this chapter hints it's visions and wings.
Elene ~ invisibility and wings.
Alex ~ reads surface thoughts and wings.
Talia ~ shapeshifting
Crest ~ hasn't been mentioned, but I'm thinking wall climbing and super agility.
Seriann's Mom ~ super senses and flight.
I hope this helps you navigate the story and such! Thanks for reading :)
(January 19, 2019 - 8:11 pm)
Okay, thanks! Are you also going to include the characters we submitted on your "I'm new" thread?
(January 20, 2019 - 5:53 pm)
Am I seeing echoes of Harry Potter here? I mean, with the school subjects. Pardon me if it's not. Whatever. Anyway, this is really good, Hunter! There's one thing that's sort of bugging me, and that's about the school and just the setting in general; you never really described what it lokks like, other than that the school is big. So yeah, you might consider adding on to that paragraph, just for super visual people like me. KEEP GOING HUNTER!!!!!! :) :) :) :)

Hey guys...
So I've decided that I won't be continuing this story. I usually have a lot of trouble sticking with story ideas. It's one of my weaknesses, unfortunatly. As much as I love writing, this story isn't going to continue. Thank you to everyone for feedback and charecter submissions! (I'm still on Kyngdom though! Yay!)
Bye!!!
(January 28, 2019 - 8:39 pm)
That happens to me SO OFTEN. I feel your pain. But still, that's sad!
