NaNoWriMo!
That's right. We're eight days or so from NaNoWriMo! I created this thread for the following purposes:
1. So people can give and get advice. If it's your first year on NaNo, this is the place to be. Also, I seriously need help... I'm a planner, and I'm pantsing my novel this year. HELP.
2. So you can share excerpts of your novel. I love hearing about novel ideas, and I love actually reading those novels even more! If you have a little piece of NaNo writing (or even just your novel synopsis) that you're comfortable with sharing, please post it here!
3. So you can share NaNo memories. Ah, remember those novels you had in the past? (Or, in my case, hot messes you had in the past?) If you have a memorable memory from a NaNo of past, remember some touching encouragement you received, or recall what made you start NaNo, you can share it here!
4. So you can encourage others. If your inspiration disappears, your hope runs out, you're on your seventh macchiato and still feel tired, or you just feel sad, this is the place to be. You can make it through NaNo. I know you can. And if you, through some type of dark magic, don't succeed? It's just NaNo. We all make mistakes, and we all can try again.
You got this, guys!

That's really interesting and, well, outlandish :P
I like it!

We're two days away!
Today's tip is kindness! I can turn into a monster because I'm so tired every NaNo. I've yelled at a lot of people during NaNo and regretted it so much afterward. I'm very anger-prone though, so I don't think a lot of other people on the CB are like this.
If you are, just remember it's natural to be cranky when you're tired! You're not a horrible person. If you think you've hurt a person, apologize to them. Before you ever even yell at someone, make sure to let other people know how much you appreciate them. Go out of your way to be a little kind this November. Give someone a compliment!
It'll also make your parents more likely to let you participate again in the future (Well, hey, they don't 'let' me participate, but they have threatened to make me stop in the past). Also, I'm one of those narcissistic selfishly selfless people that feels great about themselves after they make people happy, so...that's a plus? :P
Be kind.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I’m officially stressing guys.
It’s in two days. Which would be okay except that I just realized last night that I’m gonna be getting assignments for my creative writing class every week. So I’m gonna have to balance those AND my novel *deep breath* and I’m already busy and I always feel like I constantly have more to do and I need to catch up on Inktober and I’m gonna be out of town two weeks or so and on top of all that my fifteen-year-old dog passed away yesterday and I’m still kind of in shock and don’t know what to feel so I’m kind of having a mental breakdown about everything and I’m reallyreally overwhelmed on SO many different levels, and I’m sorry to dump all this on you guys but I needed to vent. *long exhale* So yeah. Sorry. If you made it through that whole thing and understand any of it, I congratulate you. Thanks for listening to my pathetic rant.

Agreed.
I'm so sorry about your dog, Leeli. Losing a beloved pet is very sad, but after a while you'll be able to remember the good times you had together and smile about them.

I had my first ever MUN conference on the 20th, which meant most of my free time in October went to research and then writing my position paper and then buying formal clothing and then writing my speech and then actually going to conference and then being tired.
I haven't been doing super well lately so I'm not sure how this is going to go, and I don't know how I feel about going for 50k, but I'm probably going to do it on the adult site and I don't think you can go lower than 50k?
I like my Nanowrimo ideas, though. I came up with a lot of ideas and then weeded them down to about six which I think are interesting, three of which I'm willing to try to write with for Nanowrimo. I don't think any of them are big enough for a full 50k thing, but we'll see. I know I'd definitely like to write with all three at some point, and despite not sharing characters or explicitly being set in the same world, I definitely feel like they go together. If anyone wants to hear about them I'd love to share, btw.
I've done Nanowrimo... a lot of times. I didn't do it November 2017, but I did do Camp twice or maybe three times, and I did November Nano '14, '15, and 16. It feels kind of different this time though... I'm not as excited, which could just because of how tired I am, I don't know...
Anyway! Feel free to PM me on Nano, my username is lucy_blue.

Day one! I did 4 pages of rough today. This is what I wrote in my ‘Prep Note’. It’s for pacing. Rough is like layout, pencil, stick figures... I don’t trace it when I do finished, and it’s mostly for the plot so I don’t have to redraw the whole novel because of a plot hole.
Goal: 60/done novel rough, 20 finished. Week: Thursday-Thursday
Week 1: 30 pages of rough
Week 2: Finish 7 pages
Week 3: 30 pages of rough
Week 4: Finish 7 pages
Week 5: Finish 6 pages, scan.

My synopsissssssss
Avi is not your typical heroine. She’s a traitor, a part of the evil government that hunts down shapeshifters. But the government gives her bribes. And there’s this girl she likes. And its not just black and white, after all.
