In the chatterbox, anything you find will seem normal, from dragonwolves to flying chipmunks. That is why you were not very surprised when a cat walked up to your door and knocked, Its tail surprisingly strong for such a small creature. You came to the door. "Hi!" you said to the cat, assuming it was of the AE or CAPTCHA variety, "Whatcha got there?" The cat, of course, said nothing, for it was only an ordinary cat, but it did drop a letter onto the ground and then disappeared down the road. Now you were surprised. You stared after it a moment, then picked up the letter and walked inside, muttering, "Catwhisperers again."
You opened up the letter, (after checking for booby traps, of course. -it wouldn't be the first time you had been hit by a truckload of confetti or sticky notes after opening a letter-) and removed the letter, which read:
Dearest CBer
It is my dearest regret to inform you that two months two days ago, at around 24:30 in the evening, Sir Willoughby Tolkien Rothenberg III died. It was a perfectly natural death, and he died peacefully. Or that's what we thought. Today, new evidence has been discovered that shows that it was not, as we previously thought, a natural death.
He was murdered.

If you couldn't tell, this is something similar to a ski lodge, with one exception, which is that after every installment you each get one turn, where you can come forward and say you're going to do something, such as hack a computer. Here's how that could go.
Dean L.: I'm gonna try and hack the computer.
Mantis: All right... okay, here goes!
They looked at each other, all of them knowing that there was no way out, until Dean said, "i'm gonna try and hack the computer." this gave them hope, and Dean began to type, determined. Numbers scrolled across the screen, and he was doing well. They heard a click, and they turned around. Several vents had opened. Out of them poured a greenish gas, and within minutes they had fallen unconscious.
However, if you had chosen a relevant skill, it could've gone like this:
Abby grinned and started to code, her fingers flying over the keyboard. Within minutes, the door was open. In a cave, the murderer growled in anger.

How about an old character of mine that only has one post of story on this entire website...
Name: Model V.A.S-531. Or Vas.
Age: ???
Gender: Male by design
Appearance: Pale white "Skin", blonde "Hair", green eyes. wears blue sweatpants, black A-shirt and a blue cap with a white front that says "Vas" on it.
Personality: shy, but friendly, does get nervous and "freeze" but would fight if need be, mostly wants to avoid problems. quite literal.
Previous experience in this work of field: Scout bot built for infiltration and combat. Assault Model.
Role: Infiltrator
Skills: Hacking, lockpicking, Military training.
Weaknesses: Requires Energy to function. Can do up to 25 actions. He can take an action to charge up five actions. If he runs out of actions before he can charge. He powers down and is useless. Someone needs to charge him to make him functional again. The reason being is hos main power sourse is fussion cells. Which can't be found in this manor and are the size of car batteries. He has a built in back up battery but do to decrease weight it's small. More of a temporary fix. Doesn't have Conner's dna analysis ability
Powers: His left index finger can become a keycard hacker and. He's a walking battery. To charge something it'll cost three actions. Great for a power outage.
Other: Cares a energy pistol called the EM-7. I don't know how one can fall in love with a robot. But hey it's not like I can stop you guys so ship away.

Appearance: Long and wavy dark brown hair with blue streaks that goes down her back and a matching pair of cat ears and tail. One dark brown eye and one dark green one. Fairly tall for her age. She wears a pair of jeans with a black hoodie and leather boots. When using her powers, she wears a lacy black dress, combat boots and a black choker.
Personality: To other people she can be snarky, cold and smug, however really she is easily hurt and can get very emotional. Upon first meetings, she will put on a kind and cheery demeanor. To her friends, she is upbeat and chatty. Also very phillisophical and poetic. Often ponders the meaning of things and doesn’t like to censor the truth.
Previous experience in this field of work: No real experience, but knows an awful lot about this stuff

Skills: Smart, creative, able to do the wrong thing for the right purpose. Natural leader.

Appearance: Long, wavy black hair and clear blue eyes, tall. She has cat ears and a cat tail, and can turn into a fluffy black kitten at will. Wears nice clothes, but doesn’t exactly stand out. Often has headphones on.
Personality: Formal and antisocial, only enjoys the company of a few people. Isn’t afraid to state her views and respects those who understand.
Previous experience in this field of work: None
Role: (anthropologist, computer expert, journalist, etc.) Music producer and coder/hacker.
Skills: Logical and observant. Good at coming up with ideas.
Weaknesses: Not a people person. Untrustworthy.

Well, okay, so... to your first question, pretty much, but you can only do one thing. So this:
I'm going to try to climb the wall and then i'm gonna try to hack the computer to get the door open and shut off the lasers. is wrong, and
I'm gonna try and climb the wall. is right. And then i will decide whether you succeed, but if you have a relevent skill, (Such as rock climbing) you have a higher chance of success. Get it now?

Appearence: usually seen in soiled gardening clothes, with a bright bandanna keeping her long braided black hair out of her face. She wears a diffrent color bandanna every day.
Personality: Friendly, loves her plants, love her friends, loves the sunshine, hates pollution.
Previous experience in this field of work: She's not a detective of any sort(I hope this is ok) but due to her expertised, she does notice small details that may have been previously overlooked.
Role: (anthropologist, computer expert, journalist, etc.) actually, Rothenburg's gardener. She's tended to his estate's ladscape for quite some time and is devestated that Rothenburg is gone.
Skills: Gardening(duh) and drawing. She's also a great listener and will be receptive when you throw ideas around.
Weaknesses: HATEs blood. Can't stand it. It makes her nauseous.
Powers: (optional) I guess she has a little power over plants, but not much.

Appearence: standard nerd glasses, piercing brown eyes, immaculately groomed black hair. Wears standard CSI black uniform and always has equipment for sampling(gloves, baggies, casting powder, etc.).
Personality: Stiff, level minded, doesn't take off the proffessional facade unless he's with someone he trusts 100%
Previous experience in this field of work: has worked on other cases before this, such as the infiltration of the Sticky Note Palace, the death threats hidden in BaB stacks, and the thread theif in DtE.
Role: (anthropologist, computer expert, journalist, etc.) CSI agent
Skills: He's a perfectionest, and makes sure that everything he does is just so.
Weaknesses: He's a perfectionest, and makes sure everyting is just so. Also can loose his patience rather quickly, especially when he's being interrupted.
Powers: (optional) Has heightened sensed of smell, sight, and hearing, like those of an animal.
Other: One reason he applied for the case was to be with his cousin, Spring Flower, who he knows is quite shaken by the murder. Open to light shipping with girls.

Age: Classified. I look like I'm about fourteen (though I'm not in real life.)
Gender: Female
Appearance: I'm tall, about 5'6", with short, wavy electric blue hair that's usually a mess and icy blue eyes. I'm usually wearing a black Imagine Dragons t-shirt, cutoffs, and black combat boots.
Personality: I'm reckless, kind of impulsive, witty, and I tend to not follow rules. I try to help people when I can, but usually my "helping" turns kind of chaotic. You know what, I'm kind of like Anakin Skywalker. Or Atton Rand, if there are any Knights of the Old Republic players reading this. (I'm a total Star Wars geek.)
Previous experience in this field of work: Oh, gosh, I've probably had experience with this sometime or another. I don't know that much about this kind of thing, but I'll probably catch on once I've watched people doing it for long enough.
Role: Whatever people need me to do, though I'd really enjoy anything that involves fighting.
Skills: Writing, self-defense (I know tae-kwon-do, jiu-jitsu, and fencing), skateboarding, and kind of singing, though I'm not entirely sure if that would ever come in handy. I care a lot about my friends, and I'll do pretty much anything to help them. I'm also really stubborn, which I guess could also be a weakness.
Weaknesses: I'm not the best at planning things out, and my plans often go the opposite of the way they're supposed to. Also, I'm really stubborn and I have a temper, which means that I tend to lose my patience quickly.
Powers: I can control snow and make teleports out of snow.
