In the not too distant future, a fantasy many children and adults alike had only dreamed about has become a reality somewhere far off in the multiverse. Imagine a world almost identical to ours: The people there call it Zelkova. They speak the same language, eat the same food, do the same things as us Earthlings. We were almost identical. Were.
On the fateful day of April 16th, 2035: More than 50% of the human population on Zelkova seemingly developed some sort of strange superpower overnight. Old and young, men and women, overwhelmingly strong powers and completely pointless ones, all over the world.
To put a lid on the ensuing chaos, the governments of Zelkova put forth new laws regarding these powers, which began to be called "gifts" by people around the world. New institutions were put in place. New utilities. New organizations. The world had to adapt to the new gifts bestowed unto them by some supernatural force. And they did.
June, 2040: The world has become a supernatural society. A majority of the population has adapted to a strange "gift" they recieved one day, and a new generation will soon prove whether these gifts will pass on or not. Many are living their childhood dream. Not all is well in Zelkova, however. Much of the "giftless" population vehemently protest against the special treatment of the gifted. Many gifted individuals turned to the shadows rather than the light, using their gifts to make crime all the more dangerous. The goverments of the world can't keep the peace on their own. That's why a special few gifted individuals, heroes, have stepped up to defend against the worlds evil. Heroics have become a full-time government supported occupation. Heroic academies have sprouted up all over Zelkova, helping aspiring young teens to hone their gifts and learn what it means to be a hero.
You all will be first years at the massive and high-tech RGAZ (The Royal Gifted Academy of Zelkova), the most popular and well respected Hero Academy in all of Zelkova. All will have different reasons for attending, but all share a common goal: becoming a hero. With pressure high and evil lurking just around the corner, who will have what it takes?

Name: Charia Sunnersik
Gender: Female
Age: 14
Appearance: Straight brown hair dyed black, silver eyes, fair skin. Average height, very fit but not buff. Wears the clothes that identify her as a Gifted and a Student of the Academy. Can I draw them? :)
Personality: Introverted but not shy.
Gift: Manipulation of all things, but she can only manipulate one substance at a time.
Background: Was a total nobody before the Gifting. She was found by the RGAZ and taken off of the streets, and is now recieving an education and ROP, or Refinement of Powers, from RGAZ.
Other: Open to shipping, but only to guy.

Alright, I think I'm about ready to post my character.
Name: Reed Rickson
Gender: Male
Age: 14
Appearance: Reed is a moderately tall, moderately skinny kid (Built like a basketball player). He stands with posture that suggests how disinterested he is about his first semester at RGAZ, and his expression doesn't differ much from "I don't really care". On top of his uniform, he has long, curly black hair held back out of his face by a headband. He has sharp facial features, pale skin, freckles, (usually bags under his eyes) and purple eyes, which mysteriously appeared along with his gift.
Personality: As suggested before, Reed is unbelievably aloof and unphased by all things "gifted". On the other hand, he doesn't protest much, as it only took 1 stern talk from his mother to convince him to enroll. Reed is neither an introvert nor an extrovert, and talks when he wants to, as well as most other things. He has proved average in Junior High, and has yet to see how he'll do at the Academy.
Gift: Reed recieved the unique ability to emit powerful shockwaves everytime he cracked his knuckles. The more discomfort his hands are in (Ex: Writing an essay for an hour), the more powerful the shockwave. I can imagine you all know the weakness to this ability, as nobody could crack their knuckles forever (Maybe somebody in Zelkova can... that'd be a really annoying gift).
Background: Reed emerged from an average family. Both his parents recieved gifts, (His mother can blow bubbles spontaneously, his father can use his finger as lighters) but they were different from them in that they were totally pumped for Reed's enrollment, as well as huge fans of the big-time heroes. Reed couldn't tell you anything other than that in a conversation, so y'all with just have to find out the rest for yourself.
Other: Despite his first impression of total disinterest in everything, Reed sometimes develops intense passions for some game/sport. His change of personality while playing said game is scary to say the least.

Appearance: long blonde hair, with the bottom dyed blue, light brown caramel eyes, that glow golden in the sun, light pale skin, and dark blue framed glasses.
Personality: fun loving, but can be pessimistic. she's very loyal to everyone close to her, and will fight for the ones she loves, she's a huge activist for pretty much everything (gun control / feminism / lgbtq+rights / stopping racism)
Gift (Nothing OP or cliche please. The cleverer the better): she can control gravity, if she needs to get away from an enemy and for some reason she's on top of a building, she can control the gravity around her, and jump, and she'd float down like a feather.
Background: her parents are also gifted, but they used their powers for evil, she vowed to never mistreat such a gift like them, she rebeled early, never agreed to help her parents in their evil ways.

Ooh yass, this looks awesome! Also, welcome to the CB, Ferris! I noticed your first post was on Everild's thread. Oh ha and the RP was posted yesterday. It's kinda weird to see something that was posted on my birthday. xD
