Thoughts, story excerpts,

Thoughts, story excerpts, poems, art, photography, ideas, complaints and so many other things. They come to our minds daily, shining stars falling down from the vast skies of imagination. So, we create new threads to share them. However, while individual threads are good for sharing a story, or creating a contest it would be good to just place all these bits and pieces in one place. So, this thread is for you to share those random things that you've made or thought of. No rules or limitations for what you can put (other than the basic CB rules of course), just enjoy!

Trying to conceive a new fantasy world;

"Even with all the advancement of science, there is still a place no one can understand. This continent is populated by a mysterious group of people called the kovalat otyou, or the Dragon People. They are a tribe of people strange and ruthless, with hearts of fire and eyes of magic. And wings- these people can fly, Their wings are feathered, but on a construct of leather- a bit like dinosaurs, or the magestic Dragons from fairy tales. No anthropologist has gotten close enough to confirm it, but the tribe seems more bird than human. The scientists are too set in their ways of saying dragons are fairy tales, but I'll tell you a secret. These people are not humans or birds. They are true dragons, like the dragons from the beginning of time, and there is a reason why dragons are always so old. They start out looking human, but they don't have a primate bone in their body. The kovalat otyou are dragons evolved, and if you don't believe me go and see for yourself, hear the beasts roar. Dragons are still dragons when they are young, and there is a reason no one lives in South America anymore."

An opening sentance from a story that I am writing:

"The wedding was a success... Exept for the fact that everyone who wasn't dead was horribly, awfully drunk."

I'm going to be posting a story in progress that I am also writing here... Sometime. XP

Here’s a story I wrote for another thread. I got my inspiration when I said I was going to write a story on the fly (off the top of my head). You’l see what I mean.

My Life On The Fly

Lots of people think flies are gross and annoying. Now, I can’t exactly disagree, but what most people don’t know is that they are surprisingly good hosts. One night I was sitting there on the moon looking down at Earth when I spotted the beginnings of a hurricane swirling over the cobalt ocean. Storms are always a fascinating thing to watch from space, especially if the Sith from the Dark Side of the moon aren’t trying to attack Naboo, so I leaned closer to watch it. Probably at least a category 3, I thought. But leaning over like that must not have been such a good idea, because I lost my balance and tumbled through the dark matter towards Earth. It was quite a while before I neared Earth’s atmosphere, and I must say, that nap was good. But as I began re-entry (well, I guess it was just entry), I started to worry about how I would get back to the moon. After all, the Winged Whales of Prophetic Song that brought me to the moon in the first place are nearly extinct.

The heat was intensifying as I sped through the troposphere. All of a sudden torrential rains poured around me and I was swept in circles by hurricane winds. (I think I saw Dorothy and Toto.) I knew I must have fallen into the tropical storm. I was pretty sure I was stuck in that storm until it either dissipated or dropped me somewhere. But a black dot was nearing me and getting bigger the closer it was. Soon I could make out a pair of iridescent wings beating furiously and two oversized compound eyes. In no time it was right next to me, flying along as the winds swirled me around. Now I could see clearly that it was a fly, although it was much larger than I. Wow, I must have burned up a lot during re-entry if I’m this small. Then the fly said, “I’m the Rescue Fly! I save people from odd situations with no clear solution. I was patrolling the area when I saw that you seemed to be stuck in this hurricane. I must say, we usually don’t see Coruscant locals around these parts, but that doesn’t matter. How might I be of asistance?”

“I need someone to help me out of this hurricane so I can search for a Winged Whale of Prophetic Song. They’re the only creatures that can take me back to my home on the moon,” I replied.

The Rescue Fly nodded knowingly. “They are quite rare, but if a Winged Whale of Prophetic Song is what you seek, then that you will have. Grab a hold of my back and we shall begin our quest.” I obliged, and, grasping two black hairs situated between the fly’s wings, we took off. In no time we were out of the hurricane, and bright blue water stretching to the horizon sparkled all around us. I lay back and watched puffy clouds drift by, and was lulled to sleep by the constant thrum of the fly’s beating wings.

That’s all for now!

I'm doing Camp NaNo (YWP)- does anyone know the classroom code? @Admins, is there a CB classroom code like regular NaNo had? I'll post bits on here once I get into it. My username's OnceInABlueMoon- my "first name" is my real name, Sureika. Any help? (I can make a new thread about this, but I didn' think it was needed.

I don't know any code for YWP NaNo. Someone else will have to tell you. Sorry.

The warlord sat upon his throne, his mask covering his face. The man stood in the doors and watched him. Their eyes met.

"Master," the man began, drawing his sword, "You have imprisoned the empress and you attack her people,"

The warlord nodded, resting his masked chin on his hand.

"That I do," he said.

The man extended his sword, challenging.

"I AM NOT YOUR SOLDIER!" he bellowed, "I AM A SOLDIER OF THE EMPRESS, AND FOR HER I SHALL FIGHT!"

"How quaint. You thought I couldn't tell that?" the warlord almost whispered, "Come at me. Take my life. See what becomes of you,"

"You are brave," the man said calmly, "You seem unaware that I have been trained by the finest swordsmen in the kingdom. You seem unaware that by now, I am the finest swordsman in the kingdom. One would think you would at least ask for a fair fight,"

"I have no wishes for such. Take my life. If you truly are such a strong swordsman," the warlord replied, "You deserve the honor of slaying me,"

The warlord stood and walked forward, placing his arms at the side.

"You see I have no weapons. I offer my complete surrender," he said.

The man raised his sword and broke into a run.

"You'll regret everything," the warlord whispered, raising his hand to his mask.

The man prepared to swing his sword, and then let it fly through the air, whistling.

And the mask dropped to the floor. The warlord fell backwards, appearing to be dead. The helmet flew through the air, letting locks of wavy white hair free. And the man dropped his sword, gazing into the face...

Of the empress.

Violet eyes stared into his, the traces of a smile on her porcelain face. Her white hair lay around her, like the petals of a lily.

"Empress..." the man stammered, dropping to his knees.

"I have betrayed you...?"

Excerpt from the book Smells Like Pirates: It is common knowledge that in order to be a serious villain, you must have a lair. It should be a really cool, state-of-the-art, storybook kind of lair. Only with that sort of lair can a villain expect to become feared and famous.

Now, I'm not suggesting that you become a vilain. Au contraire-villainy is an expensive, time-consuming, and lonely lifestlye. It is not for the tenderhearted or sweet-tempered. If your goal is to be popular and get invited to lots of parties, do not become a villain. If you like to go out in public without people booing you, throwing rotten fruit at your head, or fleeing from you in terror, do not become a villain. However, if you relish the thought of being alone and you have a single goal in mind and are willing to do anyting to reach that goal, whether it be ruling the universe or becoming the richest kid in the world, then villainy might be an option.

 how to be a villain - introduction.

Trust nobody, because everybody is out to get you. Don't trust innocent-looking children, don't trust random animals, don't trust your henchmen, don't trust the papparazzi, don't trust the heroes, don't trust anybody. Except for perhaps yourself - and this book. Everybody, as I said, is out to get you. However, you have one thing going for you (Other than your astonishing good looks and intellect)

This book.

A handbook for villains - a must for any aspiring evildoer, especially if you don't want to repeat the mistakes of the greatest villains of all time. Not really that good - they were all eventually defeated.

But you don't want that, do you?

So let's get started.

~~~~~~
BLURGH me and John FQ were working on it together - it was his idea originally. Also, have you ever noticed that villains usually aren;t trustworhty and betray everyone who helps them? Personally, I think that in reality, NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD DO THAT. You have to be trustworthy - to a certain extent - if you want people to be your allies.
~~~~~~~~

I opened my eyes, but it did me little good. It was nearly pitch-black on the dank, gloomy street. I knew I was there for an inportant reason, but I was struggling to remember. Think, Isaac, think, I told myself. Then it all came flooding back to me. Her determined face walking fearlessly away, blazing red ponytail glowing in the dark.

Maggie. My best friend was in huge trouble.

And with that, I got up and sprinted.

~

After two hours of searching, I found her dead in an allyway. Her hazel eyes, glossy and distant, shimmered beautifully, reflecting on the girl who was once alive, who was all I had left. I couldn't any more. I knew that place was bad, but that was it. I was done. I would rather have been dead.

And that was when I got pulled into the Trials.

I enjoyed that throgoughly shocking conclusion!

I just like shocking conclusions. I like how you delivered it quickly and effectively, not beating 'round da bush.

Thanks. The Trials... are not what you think. It's a very long story, including a third book in a series, travel through dimensions, and an evil lady wanting people to forget their pasts.

Past 100 comments! Anyways, I’m doing a rewrite of one of my earliest books, and I’ll probably post it on here! (There’s an excerpt on the 1st page) Some scenes might need to be edited, what’s the policy on romance Admins?

Wait CHINCHILLA I must see more of this villain handbook! I found that excerpt very amusing, entertaining, funny and whimsical. :):):)

Here is a random snippet I came up with that would go to a book idea I had. Please tell me how it is. I need critique.

He reached out and grabbed her wrist. "Iesha- please..." She looked back at him sadly. "You shouldn't-" she began, but Colin interrupted her.

"I know you lied, and- I'm disappointed, but I want to forgive you. I do forgive you. I want you to forgive yourself. This shouldn't be the end. You have to stay." "Oh, Colin..."

Both at a loss for words, they could not hold it together. It was not certain who leaned in first, but they clung to each other and stayed there for what seemed like a long time after.

Two bits of expostition for a story I'm writing:

At the beginning there were two entities, two forces: good and evil. One could not exist without the other, and for the world to exist, they too must both exist. However, there are very few things that are pure good or pure evil. And if there is, it always has a counterpart of the other party. From the beginning of time, they have been locked in an endless struggle against each other. But one day, evil began to get a bit stronger. The same thing happened the next day. Each day it grew a little, forcing good backward. Evil got larger, bit by bit, until one day it devoured all good and surrounded it. It seemed evil would finally overcome good. But in its darkest hour, good constructed a beautiful shield, inlaid with jewels of the the seven elements of the universe. It threw the last of it's energy into this task, scouring the earth and working day and night to construct it. Evil found that it could not defeat good when it had this shield, and as evil struggled, good flew up and grew strong once again. In the aftermath of the struggle, the beings mixed and settled into two worlds; all the evil that was not destroyed formed into beings, smaller versions of the once-great veil, called pollution spirits. The great shield was destroyed. The seven gems flew to Earth, and the shield itself landed in Not Quite Earth. Both worlds were comprised of both good and evil, as one could not exist without the other, but Earth was mostly evil, and Not Quite Earth was mostly good. They were not pure good or pure evil, however. There was some of the other in both worlds. Good's power over life flowed into Not Quite Earth, allowing every being there to shapeshift into one other form of life. Evil's power over death flowed into Earth, allowing the people there to produce and create pollution spirits.

~~~
We do not belong to your world. We live in between the realms of life and death. We are not human. We are not animal. We are not time, space, or thought. We are a combination of all of these. Some may call us monsters, freaks, aliens, shapeshifters, or any other sort of “mythical” creature you can think of. But none are our name. Our true name is impossible to put into any human language. It is in our ancient tongue, of which none but the ancient beings we are descended from speak. The closest we have gotten to translating it into any human language is Not Quite Human. At first glance, we may appear to be normal humans, but if you look closer, you will see what gives us our name. We have two forms, human and animal. Both forms are equally us. We can switch back and forth between forms at will, and most can even have some aspects of both forms at the same time. This is why we are not human, animal, or any normal being. We are Not Quite Humans.
~~~~~~

I know they don't really fit together, my friend wrote the second one, and I wrote the first one. It's to help introduce the world that the story takes place in. Constructive criticsm would be much appreaciated. Which one do you like more?

Have you noticed that there are basically no redheads in any of the Star Wars movies?

Huh. That's weird. I like Star Wars, but I've never noticed that before.

Think about this logically: if you put bread in a toaster and you get toast, then why don't you put pizza in an oven and get an oven or put chicken nuggets in the microwave and get a microwave?

Boo says nymv. Are you moving to New York???!!!!
