Riddle Me This

Since my thread and Rp died horrible and miserable deaths, I shall make a new thread that is more interesting. A thread that has riddles!

Starting with a riddle by young Albert Einstein

The Wolrds rarest fish has been stolen from the city aquarium. The police have folowed the scent to a street with five identical houses. But they can't search all five at once, and if they pick the wrong one, the theif will know they're on his trail.

Its up to You, the city's best detective to solve the case. When you arrive on the scene, the plice tell you what they know.

1.)each houses owner is of a different nationality, drinks a different beverage and smokes a different type of cigar.

2.) Each houses interior walls are painted a different color.

3.)Each house contains a different type of animal, one of which is the fish.

After a few hours of expert sleuthing you gather some clues.

  1. The brit lives in the house with red walls

  2. The swede has a dog

  3. The dane drinks tea

  4. The house with green walls is directly left to the house with white walls

  5. The owner of the house with green walls drinks coffee

  6. The person who smokes Pall Mall cigars owns a bird

  7. The owner of the house with yellow walls smokes Dunhill cigars

  8. The man living in the center house drinks milk

  9. The Norwegian live in the first house

  10. The man who smokes Blends lives next to the cat owner

  11. The horse’s owner lives next to the man that smokes Dunhill

  12. The man who smoke blue master drinks root beer

  13. The German smokes Prince

  14. The Norwegian lives next to the house with blue walls

  15. The man who smokes blends has a next-door neighbor who drinks water

I think I solved the fish riddle! I'd never heard of it before but thought it sounded fun, so I drew up a whole diagram (attached) and worked on it for a good hour. :P It was really fun! It's just logic— all the information you need to solve it is there.

A lot of it was figuring out when there were two-pronged statements like, "The man who smokes Blue Master drinks root beer," where it linked two categories. Then I had to see which houses had already filled at least one of those categories in order to rule them out.

For the Blue Master example, by then I had figured out which houses the Norwegian and the Brit inhabited, so I was picking between the German, Dane, and Swede. I knew the Dane's drink (tea) and the German's cigar (Prince) so the Swede had to be the one who smoked BM and drank root beer.

Anyway, sorry to bore y'all— just silently freaking out over the fact that I did that!!

Okay time for another riddle!

You've been chosen as a champion to represent your wizarding house in a deadly duel against two rival magic schools. Your opponents are fearsome.

From the Newt-Niz School, a powerful sorcerer weilds a wand that can turn people into fish, but his spell works only 70% of the time.

From the Leib-Ton School, an even more powerful enchantress weilds a wand that can turn people into statues, and works 90% of the time.

Lots are drawn, and you're chosen to cast the first spell in the duel, the Newt-Niz magician goes second, and the Leib-Ton enchantress third, after which you'll repeat casting in that order untill one of you is left.

The rules of magic duels are strict, and anyone who cast out of order immediately forfiets the duel. also to prevent standoffs, the rules stipulate that if everyone’s still standing by the end of the round, you will all be turned into cats.

Now, you must chose a wand. Your wizarding house presents you with three options.
1.) The Bannekar, which binds one's target with vines, and casts effectivly 60% of the time.
2.)The Gaussian, which turns one's target into a tree, and casts effectivly 80% of the time.
3.) The incredibly rare Noether 9000, which banishes one's target to a distant mountain top, and casts perfectly 100% of the time.
Your opponents are masters of strategy, as well as sorcery, and you know that they'll make the choices that will maximize their own chances of success.
Which wand should you chose, and what strategy should you employ to have the greatest chance of winning the duel?
I'll post the answer tomarrow! Good Luck, fellow wizards!
