Winter's Scavengers S

Winter's Scavengers Solo Write

Holly~ I look around carefully for any flashes of dragon scales before
climbing the ladder to go out of the small village where me and Harper
live. I pull out my bow, scanning for squirrels or other little animals.
My brother's head pops out a moment later, and I quickly pull him up.
"Stay close," I tell him. "I've seen a white spiked dragon lurking
around here recently, and I think maybe it has a home nearby." Harper
doesn't seem to hear me. He clambers quickly up a tree and starts
picking apples. Stupid, reckless Harper. Harper didn't
understand what dragons can do- he didn't see what happened when Forest
tried to steal treasure from one. I shake my head, trying to focus on
the task at hand. I don't hear or see any other small animals nearby,
and I don't want to leave Harper while I'm looking for food, so I take a
basket and start gathering nuts. A sound in the bracken makes me jump,
but when I look around, nothing's there. Still, something's worrying me.
Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I tell Harper, "Finish up and let's go in,
okay?" He hears the worry in my voice and jumps down. I pick a last few
berries and turn to head in- but then a net appears out of thin air and
entangles me in its folds. "Harper!" I yell. He shoots an arrow at the
pink and purple dragon, and the dragon yells in outrage. The white
dragon from eariler flies down from wherever they were hiding and picks
up the net that's trapping me. Harper can't even fight one dragon- they'll die if they have to fight two. "Go!'
I tell him. "Run!" Harper stands there for a second, then runs into the
village. The white dragon hooks his claws around the net and takes off,
carrying me away from my home. Like I said, I know what dragons can do
to small humans like us. And it's not good.

Winter~ "You did it!" I say happily.

"Yes, I know, I'm amazing," Kinkajou said. "What are you going to do now?"

"Get them settled in the sanctuary, then check for news of Moon." I answer.

"And Qibli," Kinkajou adds dryly.

"Well, yeah." I can't believe this project is actually going to work!
Well, hopefully it'll work, anyways. I dip my wings to land in the
large, walled off area, then put the scavenger down and settle on the
wall to see what they do. Kinkajou watches for a bit, then turns to head
into Santuary.

Alright, so this is a solo write I'm making about Winter's scavenger
project! If you haven't read the Wings of Fire series, well, you should,
but Winter is a dragon who's really interested in scavengers (i.e.
humans.) After a failed attempt at keeping one as a pet, he decides to
build a santuary for them to live in where no dragons will attack them
and he can watch them as much as he wants. This solo write has places
for 9 humans/scavengers including Holly, and 2 dragons(not mains) as I
will mostly be using real characters from the books for dragon
characters.

Here's the charrie sheet~

Human or Dragon:

Name:

Personality:

Appearance:

Tribe(hybrids are ok but not too many, humans just write which part of Pyrria you lived in):

Other:

And here's Holly's sheet:

Human or Dragon: Human

Name: Holly

Personality: Independent, fiercely protective of her little brother Harper, actually rather nervous and shy but she tries not to show it.

Appearance: Long dark curly hair, darkish skin, hazel eyes.

Tribe: Not a dragon, lives in a forest near the Diamond Spray River.

Other: Her dad is fine but her mom is currently in the Kingdom of Sand
because weird dragon reasons (look in The Hidden Kingdom where they're
at Blaze's hideout...).

This is my first solo write, and I hope people will fill out some characters soon!

Holly~

The orange-sherbet colored dragon has seen something, and the IceWing follows their gaze. I've decided to call the IceWing Thaw, and the one that changes colors(Saphira says she thinks they're a RainWing, although they've never seen one before) I'm calling Bright. I squint, trying to see where the dragons are looking, but dragon eyes are much stronger than ours. I can see Thea out of the corner of my eye. She just got here, and she's busy exploring every inch of the enclousure, as far as I can tell. A hour ago, the tall, grey eyed girl tumbled onto the soft grass and extended her hand, grinning. "Hi, I'm Thea, who are you guys, do you know what in the world these dragons are doing?"

I shrugged, and Saphira just said, "It's complicated."

"Alright, then, I'm just going to explore and build a treehouse hopefully nice to meet you oh wait you never told me your names."

Saphira and I  laughed. "I'm Holly, and she's Saphira," I told Thea.

"Nice to meet you, Holly and Saphira!" and then she skipped off.

Now I can see a blob in the distance, coming closer. It's a desert dragon, with a person sitting on their shoulder. As they get closer, I see long brown hair, dark skin, deep hazel eyes. Rose.

As they get closer, I can't decide what to feel. My insides feel like a blender, only with excitement, anxiety, and anger instead of strawberries, banana, and blueberries. Rose steps off the dragon's shoulder into the enclousure with a look of wonder. I don't know what to do. Ask her what happened to her, what it's like to live with a dragon?

I punch her instead, and I can see her shock. "Do you know who I am?" I demand.

"You're... another person?"

"Wrong!" I yell. "I'm a kid that had to flee their burning home, and go to a tiny village in the River Forest. I'm a kid who's best friend died, and their uncle too. Because of three people's idea of treasure. Grandeur. Glory."

"I- I-" Rose stammers.

"And you didn't even know what happened, because you were hanging out with some dragon that probably killed your whole family!"

"Coal's not like that!" Rose protests.

"Oh, you call them Coal?" I ask, trying not to think about the fact I call the IceWing and Rainwing Thaw and Bright. "I guess you like being friendly with murderers, then."

I hear dragon wings flapping in to seperate us, but Thea gets there first, literally holding us back from each other. "Guys, stop arguing already!" she tells us. "I don't know what the heck you did to each other a bunch of years ago, but that is not okay for you to be hurting each other now!"

I sit down and look grumpily at Rose. No matter what Thea says, I'm not trusting you.

Finally! A new part! Very dramatic, very long... I've been reading a bunch of Wings of Fire fanfics, and one especially puts me to shame, so I'm trying to write better. Starseeker, what happened to your two scavenger characters?

I have a couple things I want to say. I was going to talk about them in the A/N (the little comments I do after I end a post) but I decided I could just make a comment about them.

1. This RP is supposed to add in characters as they are submitted- that’s how the whole scavenger sanctuary works. If you are scared to post your character because the solo write’s already started, please post it now- I need more characters.

2. Spots for dragons are FULL. Willow has a large role, and (a revised) Starseeker will be important too. Firefly will be more of a supporting character, though. I didn’t post the main/secondary/tertiary options like some people, and I hope you can trust me to find a good place for all of your characters, even though you might not have a main.

3. I need plot ideas! The main idea of this is humans/scavengers and dragons learning to understand each other, but I need obstacles and tricky things to make the storyline more interesting. Also some cool side things, like figuring out where Moon and Qibli are (and Qinter shipping...) If anyone has any ideas, can you tell me? I don’t really want a big antagonist, but I can provide a villan charrie sheet if necessary.

4. Alright, my iPad’s running out of battery and I don’t really have more to say, so bye! The next post should be soon- I’m working on a novel, doing track and field, playing guitar, and learning Norwegian currently, so it might be a while before the next post, but I’ll at least try not to disappear and not post a new part for weeks, at least.

Ooh! Norwegian! Cool! Ima gonna make my charries now. Sorry for the wait-- it's been a busy few weeks. :)

~~~
Human or Dragon: Human
Name: Sanza Enbard
Personality: Protective of her brother Lare. Capable of pretty much anything and quite brave and bold. Cunning and clever. Not afraid of the dragons-- they have not subdued her.
Appearance: smooth tan skin; raised scar across her cheekbone; dark brown hair pulled back into a messy ponytail; bandanna around her head and practical, sturdy clothing and boots. Dark brown eyes that flash like liquid fire when she's angry-- which is a lot.
Tribe(hybrids are ok but not too many, humans just write which part of Pyrria you lived in): Sandwing Kingdom
Other: Lare is her brother, actually, her twin. She's slightly older so she feels a responsibility to keep him safe. Also, she hates the dragons.
~~~

Human or Dragon: Human

Name: Lare Enbard

Personality: dreamy, quiet, and thoughtful. Isn't as bold as Sanza, but is just as clever and cunning, though he shows it in different ways. Will read anything he can get his hands on. Doesn't hate dragons like Sanza does-- instead, he finds them a curiosity and wants to srudy them. He is an artist and an inventor.

Appearance: tan skin; messy dark brown hair; wears the same type of clothing as Sabza (minus the bandanna). If Sanza's eyes are fire, then his are water-- cool, calm, and endless.

Tribe(hybrids are ok but not too many, humans just write which part of Pyrria you lived in): Sandwing Kingdom

Other: Is the younger twin to Sanza.

Starseeker~

I was running again, looking for a place that would take sulfur-tinged powers, prophecies of death and brimstone. Ever since leaving the Sand Kingdom, I had been looking for another place that had dragons of all kinds, even NightWings. Preferably somewhere more peaceful, less toxic than the Scorpion Den. I knew Thorn was a good queen, but I couldn't help sometimes being angry at her for abandoning the one place I could live after I ran away from the Night Kingdom.

Let me explain. You probably know the NightWing story, right? The NightWings were reputed for having powers of mind reading and prophecy, but when the volcano erupted about a year ago they lost all their powers (or they never had powers in the first place, depending on who you believe) until a young dragonet named Moonwatcher was born, in the rainforest under two full moons- no. Not that. The NightWings had no powers for centuries, because the moons were out of view on the toxic island, clouds of smoke making it so we could hardly breath. We. I still think of the NightWings as my tribe. They're not anymore. The NightWings had no powers. Until me.

I wasn't born in the rainforest. I was born under a sulfer sky. The clouds parted for a moment. It was sunset. The orange and black reflected in my egg. And then a gust of wind blew them back together, and I hatched.

I can only hear bad thoughts, see all the horrible futures. Living on the volcanic island, I had dreams almost every night, lava exploding out of the volcano, ash raining down on everyone I loved. I had to get out of there. When I was three, I was too scared to stay. I ran away, and finally felt free.

I didn't think of it as deserting. I thought of it as escaping. But Queen Battlewinner thought of it as deserting. And the queen does not like deserters.

I am not an optomistic dragon. But I thought the name of this new place sounded promising.

Sanctuary. Exactly what I need.

****

Awright, finally a new part! I had to retype this, but I think it's better now. This part is mainly introducing Starseeker, one of the main characters who's not already in the books. What part she'll play, I don't know yet. I need plot ideas before I can continue! I'll try to come up with some, but help would really be appreciated. Something the humans and dragons can face together, hopefully. When The Lost Continent comes out I'll probably have some ideas, but... that's in three months! I need some ideas before that, please. The next one will probably come out in a week or so.

I need more!!! I need more!!!!!

I LOVE IT!!!! IT'S GREAT!!!!!!

But I do know what you mean about plot ideas...hmm. If it was me I would have an animus enchant some jewlery so that dragons can understand scavengers and so that scavengers can understand dragons. That would take care of the language breach.

For the plot maybe Starseeker can have a prophacy about some strange new creatures that want to take over Phyria. Like, gryphons and hipagrphs! Or a new species of your own design! Just some ideas you don't have to take them of course.
