Chapter one: A Note

Sixteen year old Kent, climbed out of bed that morning at the sound of crashing, it was coming from the kitchen. He yawned and while he walked drowsily down the stairs of the King Mansion, where he and his father Dr. King lived, ran a comb through his, blond hair. He stepped into the kitchen, and immediately saw what had caused the crashing sound, his cat Vince stood, arching his back in surprised fright. Next to him was the smashed remains of what had used to be a beautiful ink bottle, for his farther’s ink pens, Kent sighed, picking up the startled cat and petting him, soon Vince began to purr, and Kent set him down, on the floor next to the ruined counter, stained with scarlet ink, his farther’s favorite. Kent began to study the damage, trying to decide how bad it was, and wether to get his farther, her decided not to get his farther just yet. As he studied the mess, closer he found a folded peace of paper, stained by the scarlet ink. It was labeled

In long loopy letters, in a hand writing he didn’t recognize.

Kent King

He studied it curiously, and then opened, it was written in the same loopy handwriting.

Dear, Kent.

Do not worry, about yours farther, he will be fine. You should be worrying about you’re own safety if any thing. I will give you simple instructions and I advise you follow them. First, you must pack. Not everything you own dear boy. Just the essentials, such as a tooth brush, a change of clothes and night clothes. Then you will go to the mall, to meet you’re sister there, do not question me Kent. You have a sister and you will meet her there. Right outside the doors.

Sincerely,

Someone Who Wishes You Well

Kent felt his heart soar, he had a sister? How could that be? But then the dread of what must have happened soaked in. “What do they mean? ‘Don’t worry  about your father.’!!!” He demanded of a startled Vince. “Is he?...he can’t be...can he? Gone! No! He’s up in his study being a genius. Of course he is!!! Isn’t he?” Vince looked up at him, and then strutted up the stairs, tail and nose up in a fashion he did when he was very annoyed with Kent. Kent followed him, dread making his stomach do summersaults. He ran, scared out of his wits, to the door of his farther’s study, he opened it and launched himself in, tripping on a mess that shouldn’t have been there. His heart filled with fear, he looked around, all of his farther’s color coded drawings of inventions, lay across the floor, and the window was open, blowing papers willy-nilly. Dr. Kings study was a mess, and Dr. King, Kent’s farther, wasn’t there. Kent fell on to his knees in the mess, and sobbed. “DAD!!! DAD!!!” He sobbed. Vince sat in the doorway looking unimpressed. Kent sent him a scared fearful look. And Vince strutted away.

                                                ~~~
Kent was packing a suit case in his room. The terror of his father being gone had sunk in, and he had recognized it as a truth, not matter how horribly terrible that truth was it was a truth none the less. Now he was trying to focus on the excitement of meeting his sister who he had never know existed. He had chosen to  trust whoever had written the note and followed there instructions. He lay a carefully folded light blue dress shirt and nice tan pants, then he placed on top of that night clothes, in the color of his eyes, sky blue, on top. He put a small ziplock bag with his tooth brush and tooth paste inside it, on top of his night clothes and closed the suit case. The he pushed the struggling Vince into his carrier, and locked it before the cat could shoot out. Vince meowed, upset at being dragged off of Kent’s warm bed, and shoved into his cold carrier. Kent smiled at him, and promised it would be a short ride. Then added under his breath, hopefully. Kent had already given the Cook the week of. He sad he’d call if there was a change in plans, which Kent hoped there would be, preferable his farther coming back and saying he was just on a business trip, and that the note was his idea of a joke. But in the mean time, Kent hoped into his farther’s limousine and told the driver to take him to the mall. The driver looked startled, Kent had never been the type to want to go to the mall. He asked “where did you say again sir?” And Kent blew up at him. “THE MALL!!! I SAID THE MALL!!!” He didn’t explain the note, or his farther being gone, for he was in a very foal mood. The driver looked even more startled and began his way toward the mall..the mall where he would meet his sister, his long lost sister....
