Chatterbox: Inkwell

ERIN

ERIN

Chapters 1-5

begin

light

it is all around me

swirling

drifting

surrounding

it is

all I see

all I feel

all I know

how long have I been here?

how long

will I be here?

I wait

the waiting is longer than anything

I know

and then

something.

color

what is this

new thing?

beautiful

it fills me with energy

and yet

it is so

soft

I want

to touch it

to hold it tightly

in my hand

where it will never

ever

leave

what is this

new thing?

it is

color.

something

the light

and color

have distracted me

I did not notice

there is something

waiting

waiting

for what?

I wonder

if the something

is waiting

for me.

questions

I have

so many questions

they ache

and long

and cry

for answers

I tell myself

No more questions

but every day

there are more

and more

and more

where are the answers?

are they hiding

tucked away

out of reach?

are they drifting

in the air

waiting for me to find them?

or are they right here

and I just

can't see them?

something ii

the something

is still waiting

I watch it

it looks like me

but not like me

it is not color

or light

but it is filled with those things

another question

comes

How is something

the same

but different

all at once?

maybe

it is like how color

had energy

and gentleness

at the same time

maybe

it is like how I push away the questions

but I am drawn to them

even though my mind says no

maybe

just maybe

I will find the answer.

Wow, this is really cool! It kind of reminds me of a book I read last year: May B by Caroline Starr Rose. The topics are totally different, but it's written in verse like your story. I hope you post the next chunk soon because this is amazing. :)

Thanks! I've read May B too. I also read another poetry book in free verse called audacity. I'll post more of the story soon Smile
