Well, I won third place in the fantasy creatures contest, but I've never been published in Cricket. What did you get published? What issue was it in?

I've won an honorable mention in a story contest, but that's it for Cricket--even though I enter every contest!:):):) So, did one of your stories or poems get published? That would be SO cool!:):):) Was it long ago? What issue was it, and what is it about? Cricket, if I were to send you some of my many short stories or poems, would you publish them in your magazine of they were good enough? I would LOVE that!:):):)

Kimberly, the only student work we publish is in Cricket League, so keep entering those contests! There are other publications that publish student work, including Stone Soup. Look for information about it on the Internet or at a library. Our sister magazine Cicada accepts work by students age 14 and up. Go to www.cicadamag.com and look for information on submitting stories, poems, photos, and artwork. You should always check out the writer's guidelines before you submit anything.

Best wishes,

Old Cricket

Thank you so much, Old Cricket!:):):) I'll have to check those things out.:):):) I'm always entering Cricket League!:):):) It's so great!:):):) I was just wondering, I entered the Mutt story contest, and when should I get the relpy telling me if I won or not? I'm so nervous, that I run to the mailbox every day to see if I got anything!:):):) Thanks again!:):):)

It may be a while before we notify the dog story winners. I'm sorry it always takes so long. We do read and judge all the story right after the deadline, but we always wait till the pages in which the winning stories will appear are finalized so we can tell the winners whether their story or just their name will appear. We have a small staff. Many of them work on more than one of our magazines.

We do promise to send out the prizes and certificates just as soon as we can! Thanks for your patience and for understanding.

I do, too, especially when the character is happy.  It adds to the effect, but it might be hard to read aloud.......  :):):):):):):):)

Okay, back to the thread. I got 3rd place in Cricket League once. I just looked bac, and it was the September 2006 writing contest. (Sheesh, that was a long time ago.) Does anyone remember that issue? It was the awesome one with the map on the cover. Anyway I was SO EXCITED!!!

I remember that issue! It was really cool! It was the one with the story about the king's live map, wasn't it? (I actually can't find my copy of that issue right now.)

It's just the face you have to make. Once upon a time   ~.~   a princess was playing with her golden ball by the well. =) Then, her ball, fell down the well. :o Then a frog hopped out of the well. To her surprise,  0.0  it spoke! and so on.
