Chatterbox: Inkwell

Charlotte narrowed her eyes. She could see the soccer ball. Nothing else. She started running, and kicked the ball in her signature swerve, missing the legs of other players, and finally, bounding into the net.

"Shreeeee!" went the coach's whistle.

"Goal!" roared Charlotte's team.

"Kangaroos for the win!" the crowd cheered.

"Hey, Charlotte!"

Charlotte heard a voice and whirled around. It was Eliza. "Oh, what?" she said, grinning.

"The boy's soccer team scored a win too! Both of us made it to the finals! And since both of us made it to the finals, Coach just told me that our mascot's coming too!" Eliza said, all in one breath.

Charlotte shrieked with glee. She loved the mascot. Instead of a plain old costume, they had adopted a dog, and every time they needed the mascot, they put a kangaroo tail and ears on it. Recently, her older brother who was an engineering genius, had designed a pair of fitting bouncy shoes, so the dog would hop like a kangaroo too.

Also, she had a close bond with the dog, who's name was Kanga, since she was the one who trained it.

Charlotte finished tying her shoes in the locker room, grabbed her bag, and dashed out, barely able to contain her excitement at winning the tournament, and the prospect kof telling her parents.
