 Lewisville, the smallest town in Massachusetts. 2017. This is a town where everyone knows everyone else. But it's also a town with a secret that only a select few people know: the mysterious island off the coast contains more magic than there is in the rest of America- possibly the whole earth. 
You are a kid in Lewisville, learning to sail. You are dared to sail out to the island...and what you find there turns your world upside down.

Okay. We all knew that I would eventually need to make an RP about sailing. So, I made this RP to get ideas for my NaNo novel.

Appearance: Mid height. Has thin, straight, shoulder length white-blond hair and brown eyes. Wears fashionable clothes and usually makeup.
Personality: A bit stuck up and, forgive me for saying, 'girly', but, since moving to Massachusetts, has started to change and become more kind and understanding.
Crushes/Ships: Ethan (IRITHAN)
Strengths: Good at getting people to do what she wants them to, a leader.
Weaknesses: Insecure, bossy, cares far too much about beauty.
Secrets: Wants to be popular here, like she was in Arizona.
Backstory: Lived in Phoenix, Arizona her whole life. Just moved to Lewisville a few days ago and is not at all happy about it.

Appearance: Tall and thin, with a frizzy black ponytail and a sunburnt complexion with lots of freckles. Wears tortoiseshell glasses over deep gray eyes.
Personality: Intelligent, friendly, stubborn. Usually quiet, but can be loud and talkative when you get to know her. A bit of a dorky social outcast, but  feels right at home on the sailing team.
Crushes/Ships: None
Strengths: Kind, loyal, intelligent, athletic.
Weaknesses: Stubborn, quick to anger and holds grudges.
Secrets: Her dad left her family when she was eight, and she hasn't heard from him since.
Backstory: Grew up in Lewisville and has only left New England- on vacation, even- once.

Name: Ethan Bannister

Gender/Preferred Pronouns: male- he/him

Appearance: Medium height, with straight brown hair and brown eyes with  gold rings around the pupils. Has a face that a lot of girls think is handsome.
Personality: Quiet, sweet, generous, innocent. Doesn't stand up for himself and often lets others walk all over him.
Crushes/Ships: Iris, although he would never admit it. (IRITHAN)
Strengths: Kind, courageous, generous, responsible.
Weaknesses: Too quiet, doesn't stand up for himself, not very perseverant.
Secrets: His crush on Iris

RULES:
1: Only one charrie per person, please, unless you are meeting the requirements of Rule 2. The only reason I have three is because they are the protagonists of my novel.
2: I need one or two charries to be snooty, stuck up popular girls with no sail number. If you make one of these, you may also make another charrie.
3: No magical powers or over dramatic diseases, etc., please. They should be fairly normal people -- just the island is magic.
4: Please, please, PLEASE try not to make Mary Sue or Gary Sue charries.
5: We will start RPing promptly on August 5th. An unlimited number of people can join until then, but that is the deadline. 
6: You must give consent for me to use your charrie as a background charrie in my novel. Until you specify Yes or No, I won't allow you to RP. If you reply No, you can RP, but will not be used in the novel. If you reply Yes, I'll give you full credit for the character in the novel.

Name: Ocean Kelly

Age: 14

Gender: Female

Sail Number: 31617

Appearance: Shoulder length loosely curly brown hair with blonde streaks in it. She is has a light tan and a small mouth and nose but big turquoise eyes and flecks of gold. She thin but athletic and average height. Has freckles.

Personality: Funny, easy to get along with. She's really smart and won't hesitate to correct grammar. Otherwise, she's has OCD and is unique, but a lot of people like her. She's very adventurous, brave, and downright curious about the world.

Crushes: She gave up on that a long time ago. But it'd be cute if she was shipped with someone or if someone had a crush on her, OR if she had a crush on someone else.

Strengths: Smart, brave, observant

Weaknesses: Hates fire, doesn't tend to show her true emotion.

Secrets: She has high spectrum autism.

Name: Assan Burke 

Age: 13

Gender: Male

Sail number: Ummm... I hope I get this right... 17002? Would that work?

Appearance: Straight dull red-brown hair, a few freckles, dark brown eyes, a little short and scrawny. 

Personality: Tries to be cheerful and energetic, but typically looked upon as immature, he's the type who tries to fit in with others his age but then gives up and goes and plays jump rope with the little ones. However, he has a lot of determination to stay positive. He loves poetry, another thing that makes him a bit of an outcast, and will sometimes repeat a few of his favorite line to himself when things are looking down. Contrary to his optimisim, he gets hurt and discouraged easily, although he hides his feelings, and sometimes holds grudges against others. Assan was also a gymnast for years before recently moving to Lewisville, and he still retains his abilities, although he's often teased for that too. Still getting settled to the tiny town that he's not used to, he dropped gymnastics and his mom encouraged him to learn how to sail, thinking he would get to know some other kids. 

Crushes: None.

Strengths: Like I said, gymnastics, and he's a self-made optimist through pure determination.

Weaknesses: Fitting in with his age group, holding grudges, keeping all real feelings to himself.

Secrets: His little sister died of pnemionia when she was just a baby, and now he's very fearful of illnesses.

I don't know a lot about sailing. Yes, I've been sailing, and yes, my dad has tried to teach me, but I get confused about the difference between the jenny, the sheet and the jib. My point in all this rambling is, is it okay for me to join anyway? If so, I reserve a spot.

The only thing you hypothetically have to worry about on this kind of boat is the sheet, so I wouldn't worry.

Appearance: On the shorter side of height. Auburn hair that falls just past shoulder blade, but it's usually pulled back in either a messy bun or a pony tail. Clear, light blue eyes. Compact, muscular build.
Personality: Full of surprises, Well-liked, loves making others laugh, can be somehwhat sassy/ sarcastic, optimistic (most of the time), empathic. Good at listening, perceptive, observant. Sometimes a little bit too bubbly. Further developed in story.
Crushes/Ships: I don't know yet. Open to any and all suggestions! :)
Strengths: Hiding her darker emotions, triathlon, 
Weaknesses: Insecure (she only shows this around close, highly trusted friends), struggles with math
Secrets: She is adopted and has a twin brother, but she has no clue what happened to him because they were separated in the adoption process.
Other: Tends to be more comfortable with guys, therefore has more guy friends than girl friends.

Gender/Preferred Pronouns: Male~he/him

Appearance: Tall and lanky,still in the awkward growth spurt stage. Dark curly brown hair that is usually well-groomed. Light blue eyes, and a rather pale-ish face. Ears that stick out slightly, but not enough to be ridiculous.
Personality: Rather snooty and judgemental. He is angry that his family had to move from France to Lewisville, and is constantly telling everyone how much he hates it. He is usually ok to get along with on his good days, but on his bad days he is a real pain in the rear. Surprisingly empathetic, though he tries not to show it. He only sailed because his dad wanted him to.
Crushes/Ships: No one so far. He's still in the I-Hate-Everyone stage.
Strengths: He loves biking and was looking forward to competing in Tour De France. Is really good at memorizing useless facts.
Weaknesses: Snooty, lactose intolerant, and not good at reading others emotions. Also can be pretty impulsive.
Secrets: When he turns sixteen he plans to move back to France and live with his family. He is really embarassed about his accent, and tries to hide it as much as he can.

Just as a side note, I really don't know a lot about sailing. Can I still RP and just pick it up as I go along?

Gender/Preferred Pronouns: F, preferred pronouns being she/her
Sail Number (Between 14000 and 22000): 19185
Appearance: Choppy mouse brown hair that reaches the middle of her neck- it's more of a boy's hair style than a girls, though it is a bit longer than most boy's hair, dark brown eyes that flash when she's angry, stands about 5'5". Usually wears clothes that are more boyish. Hates so called 'girly things', and refuses to wear pink. Kind of a light build, but not scrawny. Stronger than she looks.
Personality: She is definetely a tomboy. No question about that. She's bold, confident and unafraid to stand out. Zora is fairly smart, and does best in math and science. ELA is not her favorite subject. Sometimes she can take jokes or arguments a bit too far.
Crushes/Ships: She's definetely shippable, but it would be the first time she's ever liked anyone.
Strengths: Winning arguments, suvival skills, math and science



Weaknesses: Cats (see 'Secrets'), writing essays, pink clothing, and sometimes being a bit mean
Secrets: She is terrified of cats, because a cat once attacked her while she was petting it- she had done nothing wrong. Just an awful cat. So, she's really more of a dog person. She's not great with spiders, but if you gave her 100 dollars, she'd pick one up.
Other: She has five younger brothers, so she's tough.
