Chatterbox: Inkwell

Orange stood at

Orange stood at the edge of the cliff, looking down at the desolate landscape below.  Her medium-length amber hair blew in the dusty wind, making her squint.  She was looking for Green, who had disappeared after Red's gang had raided the camp.  Blue had decided that it was best to take care of the surviving members of the rebellion first, then count the casualties.  But Orange had noticed right away that Green was missing.  It was her best friends sense.  She'd been coming to the edge of the cliff for a week, and was starting to lose hope.

No, I can't, what if Green's still out there, she scolded herself mentally.  Then she snapped back to her senses as she spots a dot of dark red in the dead field.  It was Red, of course.  Orange watched as she pulled another person behind her, a short girl with her hair dyed green and hanging over one eye.

That was Green!  Orange knew Red had taken her.  Then she noticed a third person.  She wore a white lab coat and white-blonde hair.  Orange knew from studying the color files that she was White.  Red pulled something silver and shiny out of her pocket.  She watched Green's visible eye get wide.  Oh no.

Red tore the knife across Green's neck, and dropped her.

Orange burst into tears, and ra back to the camp, where Blue was talking to Gold about rebuilding the camp.

"Green is dead!" she shouted as she stumbled to a stop in front of Blue.

"How do you know?" Blue asked.

"I watched!  I saw Red, a-and White, they killed her!  In the field!" Orange cried breathlessly.  "What if they took Bronze too?  What if-What if --" she stopped and her knees buckled.

Is it good so far?  It's going to be a dystopian I'm writing.

Yes Lucy this is very good. I like the use of colors and how they tie into the appearances.

Meanwhile, Red needed to have a converation with Yellow.  She had been watching from afar as Red killed Green, still and unmoving.

Red stomped up to her and asked, "During the raid last week, you were in charge of the planning.  Who got Blue?  I haven't heard a word from any of you about where she's being kept."

"I gave that responsibility to Pink.  She said she would be willing to do it," Yellow said, crossing her arms.  "If anyone knows, it's her," She brushed a strand of yellow hair behind her ear.

"I'll keep that in mind," Red responded.  She turned around and walked away, White trailing after her.

"Red, are you sure this is a good idea?  If you kill Blue, Gold will take control, and you know how she is with military tactics," White asked her.

"Of course I'm sure.  And that's why, when I kill Blue, I'm putting Yellow in the military position to match Gold's strength.  She IS Gold's sister.  I'm sure the competition will get her to cooperate better." Red growled.  "Get me Pink.  I need to know where Blue is."

~**~

Pink was nervous -- more nervous than usual -- when White told her that Red wanted her.  Of course, anyone would be nervous if they needed to see their boss, but White sounded ANGRY.

Red exited the tent, slaring Pink in the eye.  If Red didn't get an answer out of her, she could be killed like that weird kid Green.  "Where is she?" Red growled.

"Where's wh-who?" Pink asked.

"Blue, you imbecile!  Yellow told me you had the task of finding and retrieving her.  So where is she?!" Red yelled.

"I-I didn't get her," Pink said, looking at the ground.

"Why the heck DIDN'T you?" Red scolded.

"Because you were going to kill her.  I wasn't about to let that happen," Pink said, almost laughing.  "If you wanted to check for traitors, you did a LOUSY job!"

Red pulled a pistol out of her pocket.  Where she got it, Pink didn't want to know.  She knew Teal had the biggest gun collection in the BaerLands.  "You have one choice.  Run, or die.  Choose wisely.  You have five seconds.  Five.  Four.  Three.  Two.  One," Red said angrily.

But Pink didn't hear her.  She was already running.

Gray walked over the small rope bridge that connnected her trading group's stash from the rest of the Baerlands and sifted through some of the boxes there.

She pulled out three flares and set them on the ground next to her.  SHe pulled out some electrical circuts and added them to the pile.  Then, she got up and picked up the small pile of things she would need.

She srarted toward the bridge again, but stopped short as a stabbing pain started in the center of her upper back.  she fell to the ground, limp as a ragdoll.  The person who stunned her picked her up, saying softly, "Sorry, sister.  Red will rule.  Even over tiny trading empires like you."

~**~

Gray woke up deep in the turf war between Red and Teal.  Except no fight was happening.  There was only Red, Silver, and White.  She blinked.

Silver couldn't be on Red's side!  She was Gray's twin.  Her glittering grey eyes had a new menacing gleam.  "I brought her here, just as you expected," Silver said to Red.

"SILVER!" Gray shouted.

"Great.  She's awake.  No what do we do?" Red asked sarcastically, snickering.  "I could just kill her now, but that wouldn't be much fun, right guys?"

"Oh definitely," Silver -- SILVER -- said.  "Might I ask Teal if she'd like to make an alliance with us?"

"Yes," Red said.  She turned to Gray.  "That was a wrong move.  You think you can work for both sides, don't you?  Your name really does match your place in the Baerlands.  You're a GREY pawn, in the middle between this enormous game of chess we have here.  You're the REFEREE, an outsider.  No wonder you came from the unknown.  You're so MYSTERIOUS, aren't you?"

If anything could make it worse, White laughed to Red's cruel jokes.

"I know you," Gray said, glaring at Red.  "I know where you come from.  You're from the unknown too, OUTSIDER."

This is amazing writing, Lucy! I love how each of the colors has a different part. I also really like the drawing of teal.

Silver walked quickly through the empty desert of the land fought over.  The name said everything, she thought as she walked, eyeing the grey building in the distance.  Teal and Red had been in a turf war over these lands for years.  It was unnatural for the area to be this desolate and empty as it was now.  Something was up.

~*(I DON'T WANT TO WRITE A SCENE ABOUT WALKING SO TIMESKIP)*~

Silver slowed to a stop in front of the black door of the gleaming grey building.  She knocked hard on the steel door.  Soon enough, it cracked open.  A sea gree eye glared at her.

"The heck do you want?" asked Teal.

"I'm about to kill someone.  I need a gun."  Silver muttered.  "And I'd like to keep it."

The door slammed shut, and for a moment, Silver thought that was a deny.  Then it opened again and a rifle was thrown at her feet.  Shee picked it up and walked back to Red, White, and Gray in the middle of the desert.

~*(AGAIN WALKING SCENE)*~

Red glanced up as Siver approached.  "Do you want to kill her, or shalt I?" she said jokingly.

"I'll kill her.  She is the weaker of us," Silver shot back.

"Shots fired," Gray growled, snarling at Silver.  "You may be stronger, but I'm older."

"Someone gag her," Red said, crossing her arms angrily.  "So I don't have to hear any more of her garbage."

White tied a rope arouond Gray's mouth.  As she writhed in an attempt to get out,  Silver leveled the rifle and shot her.  The gunshot echoed like a cannon.  White clapped slowly, almost sarcastically.  Silver had spent enough tie with her that she knew that was her way of showing flattery.  She didn't talk much.
