CB Training Academy Finals I

"Ladies and gentlemen! Come one, come all to the most spectacular display of talent that anyone has ever seen since Clouded Leopards Spirit Solo Write! Please come right through this gate - go ahead and fill up the stands - that's the way! Allow me to introduce myself. I am St.Owl, the principal of this training academy, along with my tutors Devil Owl - "

"SHOOT THOSE BLASTERS!"
"Feather - "

"Welcome and good luck to all!"
"
And Cú Chulainn."
"Dia dhuit, everyone!"

"Allow me to give you some context. These contestants are recent graduates from our Jedi Training Academy. They've gone through a great many milestones to get to this point, and now you get to see with your very own eyes their Final Test.

"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the Maze."

HOW IT WORKS.

1. Congratulations! You're about to be a graduate of the Jedi Training Academy. All you have to do is get through the Maze. Want to give it a try? Sign up below! AEs and CAPTCHAEs/AECHAs are welcome too, but no CAPTCHAs, please.

2. Your prowess will be determined almost entirely by a randomizer.

3. This will update daily with each student's standing. I will accept FIFTEEN STUDENTS, maybe a few more because I am soft-hearted, who will attempt to complete the Maze. If not enough join, I'll start in two days, on the 11th.

4. This is a game. Not everyone will complete the Maze - in fact, in the end, there will be one singular winner.

5. During your time in the Maze, you will encounter other students. If this happens, you are required to take part in a Lightsaber Fencing Match (inspired by the Jedi Academy books). Nobody dies during this match; if the lightsaber touches you, you are OUT and disqualified from the Maze. The winner of these tournaments are randomized.

6. There are many ways to get OUT, including by Tutor Devil Owl's die rolls. Every three days, Dev will roll his dice to find out what the students must face. This challenges what they have learned in the Academy. The final results of these die rolls will be determined by a randomizer. A maximum of five people can be put OUT during one of Dev's die rolls.

7. During the Finals, you are allowed to write diary entries about what is happening in the Maze as you go along. Minor plot points can be developed in these entries, such as friendships or enemities. If the Tutors are particularly impressed by an entry, the randomizer may be strangely in your favor.

8. At the beginning of the Maze, you only have a lightsaber to help you. However, every day, two random people will recieve some sort of weapon to assist them, which will factor into anything they come across. These weapons include stun blasters, Force concentrators, and small starships.

9. You don't need to know anything about Star Wars to participate! However, if you want to join, but really are not interested in this fandom, good news - this will be a monthly thing, each time a different theme!

10. On the first day, a number of students' paths will cross and lead to an epic lightsaber fencing battle. I'll use a randomizer to determine how many and who will take part in this. A maximum of thirteen people will join in, and a maximum of nine will get OUT.

11. The winner of the Finals gets a personalized graphic made by me celebrating their victory!

"Well? What are you waiting for? Students, line up!

"Are you ready for the journey of a lifetime?"

(@Admins: I hope this fits my original idea while being more CB-appropriate!)

Yes, indeed! Thank you.

Unfortunately, there isn't. I'm sorry, Esqu. I already started the randomizing, so it's too late to add you in. Feel free to join next month, though!

Oh, and all participants: I'm going to make a slight change to the organization of how I'm doing this tomorrow. Don't worry, every update won't be this boring! ;>   (behold, an owl's awful emoticon skills.)

Diary Entry No. 2

Today, I watched an EPIC lightsaber battle between a bunch of Cbers and AEs! So cool! No idea how to use mine though. Right now, I am looking for the activation button, it there is one. I took the left path, then I turned right. I heard that Grey took the same path. I'm gonna have to learn how to work the lightsaber. I like the looks of that Somebody. Maybe we can team up. It just sounds right. Somebody and a Random Person. XD

Entry:

I gotta admit, holding a very dangerous weapon is harder than I first thought.

The large fencing match went quite well, though Somebody definitely tired me out. At least I had some skill with a lightsaber... A skill which I didn't know I had.

Ugh... Why does it have to be a maze? I suck at mazes! Though, I do remember reading somewhere that if you stick to the right the entire time you can get out. Perhaps I could use this strategy?

Wish I could just use the force or something to climb over the walls... Also, I'm hungry.

Do they have food in this maze?

St.Owl lounged back in her chair a bit, grabbing the microphone from its spot on the table while spinning around the room giddily.

"I knew it was the wrong idea to give her a swivel chair," Feather groaned to her companions, holding the microphone away from her mouth so the comment wouldn't be broadcasted.

"Naah, she's having fun!" replied Cú Chulainn, grinning at her principal's antics. There was nothing better than a friendly principal.

St.Owl put the microphone up to her mouth. "Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to Day Two of the CB Jedi Training Academy finals! Can I hear you make some noise?"

Down below, a bit muffled by the glass surrounding their perch, came the roar of a million voices. Minus one, thought Cú, identifying a very grumpy-looking Shifting surrounded by the joys of the crowd.

Devil Owl snatched his microphone off the desk, grinning like a maniac. Never a good sign, thought Feather, who quickly ducked under the table.

"HEY HEY HEY! EVERYONE'S FAVORITE OWL HERE!" he bellowed into the mike, standing on the table so everyone could see him. "TODAY'S OUR VERY FIRST CONFRONTATION! THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME!"

He stepped off the table for a moment and muttered to St.Owl, "Who're the people?"

She glanced down at her tablet and whispered something back.

"VOLCANO AND DOUBLOCK! DANGIT, DOUBLOCK'S GOT THE UPPER HAND!"
"Dev, we are non-opinionated judges!" Feather shouted from under the table.

"OH! RIGHT! VOLCANO AND DOUBLOCK, VERY EVENLY-MATCHED OPPONENTS, OF WHOM I AM TOTALLY NOT CHEERING FOR ONE - "

"Well, at least the phrase was SLIGHTLY grammatically correct - "

"HAVE COME ACROSS ONE ANOTHER!"

St.Owl cut him off, speaking into her own microphone and looking down into the Maze. "Well, ladies and gentlemen, I guess we were all mistaken. With Mirax trailing behind and Nebula way ahead, Volcano's wandering has somehow gotten her onto the same path as everyone else! And here I was thinking she might have been a little out of the box."

"NOW I'M GONNA ROLL MY DIE TO DECIDE WHAT HAPPENS TO THEM."
"You didn't need to tell them that."

"WAITWAITWAIT. NO, THIS ISN'T FAIR. I'M GONNA ROLL AGAIN!"

Cú Chulainn (who everyone had forgot existed) whacked his hand with her hurley. "Oh no you don't. Results?"

Dev, however, seemed to be overtaken with grief and could only shriek "DOUBLOCK CHEATED! DOUBLOCK CHEATED! NOFAIRNOFAIRNOFAIR!"
"It's perfectly fair," St.Owl sighed, picking up her own mike. "Ladies and gentlemen, if you'll look towards the Maze . . . "

Doublock and Volcano were engaged in a good battle, but unfortunately the latter was obviously losing. Without her fire powers, Volcano wasn't nearly so intimidating, and Doublock had a Force concentrator to help him. With an impressive turning off of Volcano's lightsaber, Doublock was able to tap Volcano with his own weapon and get her OUT.

"Look on the bright side," said Cú, patting Dev on the back. "He'll only be able to use the concentrator one more time."
"THAT'S NOT THE POINT!"
"Hey Deeeeev," said St.Owl, rattling his dice around in her palm. "You can still distribute some weeeapons."

He grimaced. "WELL, AS A TUTOR, I HAVE RESPONSIBILITIES I SUPPOSE." But anyone could tell he was looking forward to it.

His die clattered and landed on 2. "HEY!" cried Dev, grinning. "THAT'S YOU, SOMEBODY! GO GET REVENGE ON DOUBLOCK. SHOW HIM WHAT YOUR FORCE CONCENTRATOR CAN DO!"
"Don't you hate Somebody?" asked St.Owl. "She's a CBer."
"WHO CARES?!"
He rolled his die again, and it landed on 13. "DIOVALD. WHO THE HECK'S THIS PERSON?"
"Who cares?"
asked Cú Chulainn. "Anyway . . .

"Diovald walks down his fork, looking around for Booksy or Niccolai. Because he's so concentrated on what's in front of him, he doesn't even notice the blaster by his foot until he steps on it. Yikes, I hope that doesn't impact the controls!"
She grinned, putting the microphone down. "That's how you narrate a competition."

"Mhm. Of course," St.Owl replied, picking up her own mike. "Ladies and gentlemen, we still have one more thing to do today. Feather, would you like to do the honors?"
She crawled up from under the table. "That's kind of my job."

It was her turn to stand up with a pose. "Dev, I need your party horn."

He blew it halfheartedly.

"Congratulations, Danie! For bringing up two very good points in your diary entry, you get a reward!

"One, during the randomizing, you will always automatically turn right.

"Two, you get an unlimited supply of food! I don't know where you're going to put all of it, but hey, if it helps you do your best! Though if you don't eat a good breakfast before going into the Maze, that's your fault."

St.Owl smiled, and pulled her mike closer to her mouth. "Today's review!
"First, our confrontation was between Volcano and Doublock. While using up one of his Force Concentrator rounds, Doublock managed to get the best of our Ignited friend, and Volcano is OUT of the Maze.

"Perhaps in revenge, Somebody gets her own Force concentrator! I hope she and Doublock meet up at some point, that would be pretty great. Anyway, Diovald (I know who you are, don't worry) recieves the other weapon, a blaster.

"And, lastly, Danie recieves not one, but TWO rewards for her diary entry! (I don't know what they're supposed to do to help her, though.) She's received an unlimited supply of food and an automatic Turn Right. . . . though I think we cut that bit. Did we cut where the students go, Feather?"
"It was pretty boring."

"Maybe we'll bring it up when there are fewer people. But, speaking of which, here's our NEW AND IMPROVED reference table of the remaining students!"

Day 2 Diary:

Oh no, Wordsy's out, and so soon! Leave me all alone here... I always knew her victory dances were up to no good. Tut, tut. Well, I suppose I must go on. Onwards and upwards, through the maze! I do hope I shan't get lost. I should mark these walls, perhaps that will help me. Good luck to all the CBers and AEs, I hope they do well.

YES YES YES! While I'm not entirely sure how an unlimited amount of food or automatically turning right will help me in any way against a randomizer, you never know! Perhaps I could give someone a cookie in exchange for survival.

Diary Entry No. 3

I am dead meat. I still have no idea how to work a lightsaber and, I only need a ship to beat someone. I read Artemis Fowl which means I have learned a lot about ships. I hear Danie's got free food. LUCKY! I woner if I'll find a snowcone stand on May 4. May the Fourth and Frost be with you! XD. Um, have I kept my earrings? If so, they're the only things I have a chance of winning with currently. I hope I don't meet anyone.

Sorry for the late update! I had a busy day.

DAY 3

As St.Owl picked up the mike again, she couldn't help but notice the strange way her AEs were acting - though they always acted strangely. "Um, guys? What's going on?"

Feather shuddered. "Why don't you ask Dev?"

She did so, but all he could do was grin and jump up and down. "Well, I guess we should proceed as normal . . . who runs into each other today?"

St. snatched the dice from Dev, clattering them against the countertop. All four of them leaned over, staring into the Maze to see how it played out. St.Owl snatched the microphone up as an afterthought. "As you can see, Danie and Grey have come across each other today. Danie's been a very lucky girl in this Maze so far - or perhaps it's skill that has assisted her? In any case, I'm certain we're all wondering whether this streak will continue, or if the underdog will come up and seize the day."

"Carpe diem!" Feather interrupted.

"Wrong seize the day," St.Owl said, putting her microphone to the side so she could watch the battle play out. Danie had been doing pretty well, but that came at a price; she was probably terribly tired. It showed, too, as Grey almost got her OUT multiple times. The whole audience seemed to be waiting with bated breath as the two battled it out, until -

St.Owl snatched up the mike. "Clever girl! Danie's putting her unlimited supply of food to good use. Looks like Grey's getting assulted by a variety of melons - oof, a pineapple to the face, that's gotta hurt. While he's suffering from this onslaught, Danie's sneaking up behind, and - yes, that's clearly going to send Grey OUT of this game. Good job getting through three days, though!"

She smiled, putting the mike down. "So, guess all we have left to do today is the distribution of items, right?"

"No," Cú Chulainn sighed, crossing her arms. "Pardon me while I seek refuge in a corner."

Feather was already hiding under the table.

"Okay, what did I forget?" sighed St.Owl.

"MY VERY SPECIAL DUTIES!" shouted Dev, leaping onto the counter. St. got a strange sense of deja vu. "IT'S TIME FOR DEV'S DISASTERS!"

"Mind if I join you under the table?" St.Owl whispered to Feather, slipping into safety.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! MAY I DIRECT YOUR EYES TOWARDS NEBULA AND THE BOOKSY BAKER? THE TWO OF 'EM ARE TRAVELEN' IN THE SAME DIRECTION - AND RIGHT TOWARDS DISASTER NUMBER ONE!"

Everyone bent over in their seats to look into the field.

"THAT'S RIGHT - THEY'RE GOING STRAIGHT TOWARDS ONE OF THE GREEDIEST SPECIES IN THE GALAXY, A HUTT! THESE NO-GOODERS ARE PRETTY QUICK TO SEND YOU RIGHT INTO THE MOUTH OF A RANCOR, SO THEY'D BETTER BE CAREFUL.

"NEBULA! WEREN'T YOU LISTENING? I SAID BE CAREFUL!" Dev wasn't even trying to contain his giggles as Nebula stepped on the Hutt's hidden trapdoor and fell to the exit. "THAT'S IT FOR NEBULA! SHE'S OUT OF THE GAME!"

The Booksy Baker, cleverly, sprinted away as soon as they saw Nebula fall.

St.Owl and Feather crawled out from under the table as Dev started rolling his dice again.

"Firstly, congratulations Random Person!" said Feather into the mike. "For your incessant contribution and your clever remarks in your diary entry for Day 2, you get THREE EXTRA ENTRIES in the randomizer! This highly increases your likeliness to be selected for a weapon."

"OKAY, OKAY, WHATEVER," Dev interrupted, shaking the dice around in his hands. "THE FIRST PERSON ISN'T EVEN RANDOM. IT'S THE BOOKSY BAKER! . . . LUCKY DUCK. GETS IN EVERYTHING BUT DOESN'T GET HURT."

"The Booksy Baker is running from the Hutt when they look down to see - a Force concentrator! Now they have not one but two weapons up their sleeve . . . or, may I say, hanging from their belt."

"AND NUMBER TWO IS RANDOM PERSON," Dev sighed. "SHE CHEATED."
"Random Person, for your comment, you automatically get a starship as your weapon,"
said Cú Chulainn. "The starship grants you one more input in the randomizer in a confrontation, and also grants you one free run-away-from-Dev's-disasters! Wish I had one of those on a daily basis . . . "

"Well, it's time for today's summary!" said St.Owl, grabbing the mike before things could escalate. "First, Danie and Grey ran into each other. Danie continued her streak by successfully getting Grey OUT of the game. Meanwhile, The Booksy Baker and Nebula came across a Hutt, which swiftly sent Nebula OUT of the Maze. While running away, the Booksy Baker came across a Force concentrator. Meanwhile, Random Person got a reward for her comments in her entry, which paid off - she got a starship for her trouble!

"Let's take a look at the remaining students."

2- Somebody (Force concentrator)

4- Danie (unlimited food, Always Turn Right)

5- Booksy Owly

9- Doublock (Force concentrator, 1 use)

10- Niccolai

13- Diovald (blaster)

14- Random Person (starship)

15- Mirax

16- The Booksy Baker (hurley, Force concentrator)

"That's it! I'll see you tomorrow for Day Four."

Entry:

I had a pretty close run with Grey (Or is it Gray? I'm not quite sure what the difference is)!  Turns out my unlimited supply of food helped out. Though, I do feel sorry for throwing the pineapple. And that melon...

Hey, but these peanut butter cookies are pretty great!

Diary Entry, Day 3: Stay calm. Remember my training. Use the force. I have to remain alert. Keeping aware of my situation is the most important thing at this point. I haven't encountered anyone so far, but who knows what's lurking behind the next corner. I've got to sense everything. I've never been the most focused of persons, but maybe I can be better. You know "get attuned to my surroundings" "become one with the force". All that jizz. Speaking of Jizz, if I ever get outa here, I'm treating myself to tickets to that Modal Nodes concert at the Cantina on Tattoine. Good music, disgusting food, wretched hive of scum and villainy. You know. My kinda place. People there know how to use blasters. Lightsabers are great, don't get me wrong, but they aren't exactly long-range weapons. You know what they say. "Hokey religons and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster." Even if this particular hokey religon is completely and utterly real. Ah, the ramblings of a sleep deprived almost Jedi. Good times.
