Names are so

Names are so interesting, we should talk about them. Ok, so maby a little to blunt, but anyway I love mine! (No nitehawlk is not my real name) I will reveal my real name in good time, but no, I do not think now is the time. (:

The maximum number of squares a knight can possibly visit is 24, because it cannot move in a straight line.

I like it too!

That depends. If you mean a closed tour on a 4x4 board, well, it's impossible, since the smallest square board with a closed tour is 6x6.

Assuming you mean an open tour, and the knight can't touch any square more than once... hm... *runs to digital chessboard* lessee... despite numerous (like, thirty) attempts, I can't even complete an open tour, I always have one square left.

So. The maximum number of squares one can visit with a knight on a 4x4 chessboard is 15 (assuming we're counting the starting space. If we're not counting the starting space, it's 14). Why? I haven't the slightest idea.

Correct, TNÖ. I'm impressed. :D

Next puzzle:

Why did Gauss become a famous mathematician? Why did what he did to make him a mathematician become so important in his subject? What else does what he did prove, along with what he did?

Is it Micky, Mo, or Malley?

For story names, flip through baby name books, because those are usually uncommon and also include meanings. If you use saint name books, you can get a short biography of a saint with that name, too.

Anyone that can guess my real  name will be pronounced queen (or king) of *something*. It starts with an "A" and is really, really unusual. Let the guessing begin! (though I doubt that you will get it right)

Ooooo...

We should think of wierd names, that someone we know has. (You don't have to know them, but someone has to have that name, they could get too wierd if people just made them up). Ill start, my cousin's name is Race, I forgot her name, but my friend's aunt's name is the name of a really old brand of hairspray with a few letters added to the end. Ill figure it out and post it soon.

  Hmm, let me guess... Alastaire??

I have an inordinately unusual name.  Everyone thinks is is Sophia, and I have to say it sometimes 3 times before they get it.

My brother was almost named Nicholas, but my parents decided against it.
