ROUND ROBIN! I'm
ROUND ROBIN! I'm putting this up again because the title Hi, does anyone... doesn't really get a thread noticed.
Darcy and Julie trudged through the snow. The streetlamps cast a dim yellow light on the snow at their bases, but other than that only the moon and stars penetrated the darkness. Julie panted; it was hard work breaking a path. Then she glanced at Darcy. Snowflakes pelted down onto her red knit cap, and dark strands of hair sprang out from under the cap, framing her ruddy cheeks.
"I'm cold," Julie whined "Let's stop somewhere."
Darcy's eyebrows furrowed determinedly.
"No. We need to get home."
"I need a rest. We can just stop until the storm lets up a little."
"Mother and Father will be worried."
Julie squinted against the hard snow pelting her face. "It won't help if we get lost and NEVER come home! She exclaimed dramatically.
Darcy rolled her eyes. "We're not going to get lost."
"How do you know?" Julie questioned her sister darkly.
Knowing that her Julie wouldn't stop until she got her way, Darcy gave in. "Fine."
Julie shot Darcy a small smile. A bright, warm light came from directly ahead, far too strong to be a streetlamp. She pointed at it. "We can stop there."
Darcy rolled her eyes once again. Lately, it had become her signature move. "Julie. We don't even know what that is, let alone whos there."
"Well we have to stop somewhere." As they tramped through the fast-falling snow, they got closer and closer to the light until they were directly in front of a door with a dark wood frame and clear glass taking up the rest of the door. The twin sisters pressed their faces to the glass, peering in. Julie raised her hand to knock...

...but before she had even touched the door, a small window at the top slammed open. Two pale eyes glared out.
"Eh? Who's there? Speak up now!" the owner of the eyes croaked in a creaky, old-sounding voice.
Julie and Darcy looked at each other in alarm.
"Well? I haven't got all day to watch you two stair into each other's eyes," the pale-eyed person impatiently growled.
Julie silently pleaded her sister to speak. This stranger frightened her. Darcy just raised an eyebrow, mouthing, This was your idea, Julie.
The stranger sighed and started to slide the window shut.
"Wait!" Julie shrieked. No way was she going to stay out here all night trying to get home in the freezing cold, weird stranger or not.
The window stopped, with just a crack left before it would close. "Yes?" the now unseen stranger asked.
"Um. Well. My sister and I... we're cold... and there's such a long way to get home, and we didn't think it would get dark so soon, and-" Julie stammered nerviously. The stranger cut her off, saying,
"What do you want, girl?"
"We... can we stay with you? Just for a little while? Please?" she anxiously scrunched her toes up inside her soaking wet boots. She could hardly feel them moving, they were so cold. The person glowered a moment longer, then suddenly swung the door open.
"Come in. Take your boots and socks off."
Julie looked at Darcy one last time for reasurance. Darcy stepped through the door, undaunted. Julie raised her chin stubbornly and followed. If Darcy wasn't afraid, then neither was she!
Darcy's jaw dropped as she entered the warm, firelight room. It was nothing like she had expected.

Flying around the study where hundrids of baby dragons!
"Yes, those are real." the man growls.
The girls could only stare at the amazing sight of hundreds of baby dragons flying around.

Sorry it's so short, it's almost bedtime.
"Brox!" Holly says. Maybe the old man should be called Brox?
(December 4, 2016 - 9:12 pm)
"What?!" Julie gawked.
The man sighed; a long, raspy noise. "I guess I'd better explain myself. Please sit." The man gestured to two worn armchairs, where the girls plopped down. "My name is Mr. Brox and-
Darcy cut in, "I don't understand. What is this?"
The man glared at her and grimaced. "I was getting to that!" He snapped. "This is a hatchery-a place for abandoned dragon eggs to hatch and a place for the dragonets to grown into juveniles and be released into my world, Tarshling."
Julie broke her shocked silence. "Wait-there are other worlds too?"
Mr. Brox's voice became more gentle, although still gruff. "Yes. You two are taking this very well, aren't you?" He muttered under his breath, "So like them... It's amazing."
"What was that last thing?" Darcy and Julie spoke at the same time.
Mr. Brox spoke too quickly. "Nothing."
The girls exchanged another look. Both of them were thinking the same thing. So like who?
The girls contemplated what they had been told, still bursting with questions.
