Fun Holidays!

What are your favorite obscure holidays? For example, May 1st, the day I posted this is Save the Rhinos Day, National Chocolate Parfait Day, and Mother Goose Day. Post your favorite obscure holidays here and see what everyone else comes up with.

Being a math geek as well as a writing geek and a crochet geek, my favorite obscure holiday is March 14, or Pi Day. Think about writing it like 3/14 or 3.14 - how pi starts. Pi is awesome! And why on this sweet green earth is there a National Chocolate Parfait Day? That's weird.

October 10th is national metric day!

This is a werid state law (sorry, can't find the thread for that) : Texas. The Safe Cupcake amendment making it okay for children to bring cupcakes to school.

Oh, yeah. I hate those dangerous cupcakes - the ones that explode on the teacher's desk or turn into toxic waste while you're swallowing them. Those are such a pain. I'm glad Texas has safe cupcakes. :P

Also, my birthday is National Inane Answering Machine Message Day, where, instead of having your answering machine say "You have reached the so-and-so family at such-and such phone number. We are unavailable at the moment, but leave your name and number after the tone and we will be back to you shortly", you reprogram it to say, "I am on a top-secret spy mission today, but leave your name and number after the tone and I'll be back to you shortly." Fun!

Ooh, I love doing that! (I never actually have, but it's crossed my mind).

Hang on with the obscure holidays- I got a list somewhere. *digs through messy bedroom*

This magazine I get has a calendar for every two months. Some days don't have any entries, but one was really creepy. If you don't mind creepiness, read on below.

I like getting back issues, so I got the September/October 2001 issue because the theme topic was interesting. And on the September 2001 calendar, September 11, 2001 was NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS DAY!!! It creeped me out when I saw it. And the same magazine, an issue earlier, had the World Trade Centers on the cover. It was really creepy. Of course, they're not terrorists behind this magazine, but still.

Pi Day, which is on March 14 (3/14 and 3.14) is one of my favorites.  It's also my uncle's birthday...  Maybe that's why he's so smart!
