Random RR!

We haven't had an RR in a really long time, so I'm making another!

Kyle stepped outside, breathing in the cool autumn air. Quietly closing the door behind him, he snuck outside.

The leaves went crunch, crunch under his feet as Kyle made his way off of the yard and to the woods. He couldn't stay in the stuffy house with his yelling, arguing parents one minute longer. But in the woods, Kyle felt like he could breathe.

The sunshine gradually faded, reduced to little bits of light filtering through the tree branches.

Much better, he thought to himself. Much quieter.

Kyle walked on and on for some time. He loved the serene peace of the forest, the quiet nature. He loved it much more than hearing parents argue.

Suddenly, he spotted something. It was glowing,l swirling, and circular.

Could it be a portal?

RR is short for Round Robin. One CBer starts the story and additional CBers continue it.

Kyle turned his head slightly. Whatever it was, it gave off so much blue light that he had to sheild his eyes. He took a step towards it, not noticing the sudden darkening of the sky above his head. Clouds covered the pale sun, and ominous thunder seemed to rumble off in the distance as the wind picked up. Miniature whirlwinds of autumn leaves sprang up from the ground like saplings, scraping the pale tree trunks. As the quickest sunset in history turned into to an uncertain twilight, Kyle finally reached the object, which, to his disappointment, turned out to be no larger than a medium-sized dog. That said, it was impressive. A circle of dark twigs with leaves of a shining yellow metal surrounded the mass of cerulean light, which was pulsing almost like a living thing.

"Kyle!"

His mother's voice was a long way off, and he could barely hear it over the wind. Besides, after what his parents had just said, why would he want to pay any attention to her anyway?

"KYLE!"

There was urgency in her voice this time, but this only served to make Kyle angrier.

Somewhere a laborador retriever barked. The howling wind was now circling around the lone boy and the object, like some wirlpool of air and leaves. Kyle was mesmerized. He wondered what would happen if he stuck his hand into it--
