Chatterbox: Inkwell

Hello everyone, it has been a very long time since I have been on the Chatterbox. 2 or more years, I think. Anyways, I am back once again in need of suggestions for writing.

I am working on a new book which will most likely be called The End's War. The basic storyline for this book is based around a corrupt government in 2040. The US government is taking teens from ages 12-18 that they believe are intelligent, strong, and even mentally unstable. They then take these kids - half a million - and put them in the Academy. This academy puts the teens in separate Sectors depending on skills, and they are raised as an army. But, there is a catch that few people know of. Some teens are going missing. The reality why is because they are doing human experiments, trying to Soul Bind teens inanimate objects, creating an immortal army. When one kid figures the base of this out, he attempts "murder" of another sector member, to be put on trial. This way he can go against the government and Academy on what he has discovered. A friend of this student defends him during the trial, and is discovered missing the next day - to be tested on for the Soul Binding practices.

This is the basis of the story, but I am stuck. I have 4 main characters, and I am only on chapter 2 so far. But for later on I want more characters with deeper personalities, some hardened by the Academy's ways, some still new. Does anyone have good names and personalities? So far there is for names: William (Will), Cassandra (Cass), Lee, and Peter.

Thanks everyone!

Okay, here is the picture for Maddie. I will make Annalisa's next. As for Maddie, how does it look? I also remember you saying she had braces, a striped t-shirt usually, and lots of freckles, but I could not add those much. This helps give me a visual for the story.

Sorry, Admins, I did not attach the picture by mistake. This is for Maddie, and Annalisa will be next.

Here is Annalisa, how is she? If anyone adds more character suggestions, I will add the visuals for them like for Lisa and Maddie.

This story sounds creepily familiar...

"The world is ending, Cass." Isn't that...? Did you post this like last year or something? I can't even remember. I will make a character for you, though.

Okay, here is one of my main characters, Lee. She is the youngest of the four, being 12 years old. Also, if anyone has character suggestions, you are more than welcome to add them here.

Here, Ashlee!

Character name: Rosalyn

Appearance: Long, wavy light brown hair, tallish, brown eyes with flecks of hazel, wears a fishtail bracelet.

Personality: Cheerful, (but this will change at the Academy) makes friends easily, likes sketching/drawing, also she has a strong will.

Nickname(s): Rosa

Age: 14

Goals for life: Rosa wants to be an artist and make money to help her family of two sisters and a brother, all younger, because her father doesn't make very much money.

So there you are, you can use her if you want!

Thank you, Leafpool! I love the character you suggested, and I will definitely add her in.

As for the story and phrase, The world is ending, Cass. I don't think I ever used it. Also, I only made one post last year, which was about a different series (The Hero's Prophecy), which I lost interest in. Amazing series, but things get in the way of wriitng. Life and such.

But it is strange for I do recognize the phrase from somewhere. The only thing I can think of is from the Fifth Wave. The main character went by the name Cassie. That book has sort of the same dark feeling, the end of humanity, things like that. But again, she never went by Cass... So we have a mystery now.

First, please can you top this?

Also, I was wondering if anyone has male characters. I am usually really good at making male characters for books. This is actually the first book I did with a female main character, so it is really different. But I want some new perspectives for them, really unique people. I love the characters suggested so far, but does anyone have male charries?

Thank you so much, Annabeth! I love the personalities of Emma and Leo, they will work perfectly, and will be used for sure. So you mentioned Leo doesn't like people close to the enemy. Well, for The End's War, the main enemy is actually the government. To be precise, particularly President Roseheart and Vice President Reinstin, both who created the Academy. Again, thank you! Once I get some time, I will make their pictures.

Hey so this is actually a Q. How do you get so many people to read your thread (you know besides haveing it awesome like this)?

You know, I don't really know how I do it. I guess one way is to give it a title. Although, this post I forgot to do that. (It just says ...)

I noticed on your posts you often do have a title. One tip is to make titles more specific. Also, it helps if you are actively involved in other people's threads, which I know you are. The only other thing I can think of is placing threads in the most appropriate section. The Inkwell is the most active. While this is good, it is very easy for new threads to be lost in less than a day. Also, people really only click Inkwell posts if it has the word RP in it, being that this is what it is for.

Now, I just got really lucky with this post after messing up the title. But the key to that was topping it. Always top your posts, 3 times or more a day. If not, then BOOM it is gone in the nowhere lands.

I don't really know how I get so many comments, but those are some of the things I do that might help. Really, it just takes time. I have noticed that if someone knows another CBer better than someone else, they are more likely to click that thread. I don't know how long you've been a CBer for, but I've been on here for 4 years now? Something like that, just off and on. So it is like seeing an old friend for some of the CBers here. Just give it time, you will get more comments and views as people get to know you better.
