...

Cho and I finished the Pokémon Sapphire game with the Blazieken as our chosen Pokémon. He was super powerful, Torchy. So we started anew after some of our Pokémon (Torchy included, of course) made it to the hall of fame. Now our first Pokémon is a... I forget what it's called. It's the starting water type one, Thunder Wave doesn't work on him, we named him Sloth and his type starts with Mud.

I'm making a Pokemon RP on thisthread, but now I have to leave.

That's a good question, Hacker ...
Would you be happy if I said: NOW?
Why can't we post a story addition to the AE and CAPTCHA RP?
'Cause this is my RP and I have to tend to it. Now GET OFF OF THE THREAD!!!!
Fine, fine. There's really no need to yell.
Right now I don't have a plot, please give your input. I'll really just be leaving home. Same for everyone else for now, 'kay? And I'll be putting Mirial's power up to 4.
Kristen~
I'm so excited. I just turned 13, and my birthday gift? An Eevee! I am now able to strike out, and that's just what I'm doing, much to my delight. Mirial still needs some work, but that's fine. I wonder if I'll catch a Pikachu? I'd have to go to those natural habitat places. Although I don't know where in all of Hoenn they are! I'll be happy with an Eevee in the meantime, though. Probably happy always. I spot Kasai, my new neighbor. She recently moved from the Johto reigon, Goldenrod city, to be precise. (these places actully exsist in Pokémon) "Kasai!" I call happily. She looks up from- whatever she's doing. "What?" She calls back. She's usually sorta grumpy-like, but today she seems happy as well. I run over. She's jabbing her finger towards a Torchic experimentially, then pulling it back quickly before the Torchic can bit her. "Kasai, I got an Eevee for my birthday! Is that Torchic yours?"
"Yeah. Isn't Amai cute?" I look down at Amai. She is awfully cute. "Yes, she is! Hey, Amai. Aren't you pretty?" Amai chirrups in reply. "Look! This is Mirial, Miri or Mira for short." I hold her up.
"Cute."
"Yeah, but... What were you doing with Amai, before I came?"
"Testing her reflexes, to see if she could catch Pokéblocks in the air." Kasai says. "Oh." I nod, even though I think Kasai was just playing with Amai. "Well, I'm going to leave. Bye, Kasai! Bye, Amai!" I call over my shoulder.

Yay! Time to start!

Ginger

~~

Before my mother even knocks on my door to enter my room, I have my running shoes on and am completely dressed. "Oh!" she says, surprised. "Ginger, you're up already!" I nod, grinning. I feel so full of energy I doubt I'd be able to sleep in at all. "Well," she says, smiling slyly. "I thought, since you're starting out on your grand journey today, I'd get you a little someone." My heart leaps with joy. A little someone?! That could only be my own Pokémon! I can't resist a little dance of excitement. My mom smiles at me. "Well, come down when you're ready. Your father is waiting with him." With that, she left the room.

I can't hold back my joy anymore. Jumping into the air, I cheer, ablaze with happiness. This is it! The day I really, truly, honestly start my journey to become a Pokémon master! And, by Mew, I'm going to be the best, strongest, fiercest trainer there ever was! Pumping my fist in the air, I pushed opened my door and went downstairs. My mother and father were sitting at the table, backs to me. I hovered at the top of the stairs, listening.

"... Violet, we can't keep her here forever. She has a right to go on her journey." My mom sighed.

"I know, Clove, but... what if she gets hurt?" I stifle a gasp. True, I hadn't thought of that, but I'll have my Pokémon to protect me. And they will! My dad smiled.

"Violet, we can't always be there to protect her. Besides, she's a strong young girl. She can protect herself. We won't have to worry about her." My mom wiped her eyes.

"You're right, Clove. Alright, I'll go get her." Hastily, I skittered down the stairs and landed heavily in front of her. "Ginger!" she exclaimed, then softened. "Would you like to meet your new friend?" I nodded enthusiastically. She stepped aside and revealed something that was standing behind her. I almost fainted from delight.

It was a little Shinx, black, yellow, and blue. His eyes were a bright, sparking yellow. His tail lashed back and forth. I liked him at first sight, because he seemed like me! Spirited, fierce, and ready to make friends! I fell to my knees and hugged him. A pleasant electric shock ran up my back. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my mom, tears in her eyes. "What will you name him?" asked my dad. I looked at him closely. There was this intelligent look in his eyes, like he was thinking about space.

"Voltaire," I said, not quite knowing where it came from. I'd heard it awhile ago, and liked the sound of it. Plus, you know, a volt! Voltaire wagged his tail to show he liked it. My mom handed me a bag after I had stood up. Peeking inside, I saw it contained a few Pokéballs, a potion or two, and a pair of fingerless gloves. I grabbed them and slipped them on, loving how they fit.

"By the way," my mom said out of the blue, "one of our neighbors came over last night when you were asleep. She had a daughter named Kristen, and I think you should go see her. It's good for you to bond with someone your own age." I nodded. Maybe she had her own Pokémon too! I turned to leave, but first gave my mom and dad a giant hug.

"I'll make sure to come back and see you before I really leave." My mom couldn't speak, but nodded to show she understood. I turned back to the door, waved goodbye, and ran out, Voltaire by my side.

Today is a good day. Actually, today is a GREAT DAY. It's... [drumroll] My birthday! Everyone I know has been receiving Pokèmon for their birthdays. I can only hope I'll be as lucky. Skidding down the stairs, I come to a halt at the living room coffee table. All I see is a battered Pokèball and a note. With a sigh, I pick up the Pokèball. Mom and Dad are on a business trip again. I toss the ball into the air. An amorphous blur shoots out, then coalesces into a spherical Pokèmon. A Gastly! I decide to call it Rin on the spot, and sprint out the door with my backpack. I see someone walking with an Eevee, but there's no time to stop.

•Kasai•

It's been a week since we first moved in, and let me tell you, it was hectic. And only because Mom didn't like the idea of mover Pokémon.

And because of that, I haven't had much time to look over the new Pokédex Mom and Dad gave me.

Still, I've managed to look over and compare the Fire types. I personally think that the ones from Johto are prettier. A couple of the neighbors have come over, but none of them have stayed for long.

"Kasai! Kasai, breakfast!" Mom calls. I say nothing, but plod downstairs to eat. "Kasai!" she calls out again and then laughs when she sees I'm right in front of her.

"Morning, sweetie! There's a … surprise at your spot." I raise an eyebrow. "What kind of surprise?" I ask. "You'll see," Mom says, a small smile on her face.

I walk over to my seat , glancing at the table. Three packages lie there, waiting for me to open them. "You've behaved so nicely while Dad's been transitioning to the new school, so we got you a little thank you presemt." She beams at me happily, then turns back to her coffee.

"Thanks," I mumble sarcastically. I tear the paper off of the flattish one. Then I open up the box, and there's a Pokédex, and a Hoenn one at that. What would I do with that?

The next one I pull closer to me is rectangular, but three dimensional. I pull the paper off. It's a shoebox, that much I can tell. I lift the lid off, and a pair of running shoes inside.

"Mom! I don't even like running!" I exclaim in dismay. She smiles that little secretive smile of hers. "I think you will in a  minute. Open up the last box."

Dad comes down the stairs at that very moment. "Morning, Kasai!" he exclaims. "Hey, Dad," I say with little emotion. I tear the paper off of the last box, a small cube. I lift the lid off, and there's … a Pokéball.

My eyes widen in excitement. Does this mean they're letting me run off into the wild to explore with a Pokémon? Or is this just meant to be a house pet?

I throw the ball up into the air, and out pops a Pokémon. It's a little red bird, with tiny orange wings, an orange beak, and a tuft of orange feathers at the top of its head.

"Thanks Mom! And you too, Dad!" I exclaim. "But one thing … does this mean you're letting me go to explore the wild with … what the heck is this thing, anyway?"

"We're letting you go roam Hoenn. And it's called a Torchic. A friend at work gave it to me. It's a girl."

"I like her. I'll call her … Amai."

Mom smiles. "What a sweet name! But dear, before you leave, you should try talking to a couple of the kids in the neighborhood."

I sigh. "Okay, fine," I say. It's the least I can do, and it's still early. I glance at my watch. 7:30. Exactly my point.

I scoop up Amai and set out, calling over my shoulder, "I'll pop in before I leave! Bye!"

"Kasai, aren't you forgetting some things?" Mom asks, handing me a new backpack and my other presents. "Oh. Right." I tug on my running shoes, pop Amai and the Pokédex in my backpack, and run out of the house, slamming the door behind me.

I land in the grass, pulling the backpack off of my back. I toss Amai's Pokéball into the air, releasing her. I smile at her as she starts wobbling around in the grass. I hold a finger out, to see what she'll do. She sticks her neck out quickly and nips my finger.

It doesn't hurt, but it startles me. I jerk my finger back quickly. But it's soon dangling in front of her face again.  And now it's a game to us. "Kasai!" A voice calls out. I look up, startled.

It's Kristen, a girl from next door. "What?" I say, snapping a little. "Kasai, I got an Eevee for my birthday! Is that Torchic yours?" And sure enough, an Eevee is running around her in circles, bumping into her feet occasionally.

"Yeah. Isn't Amai cute?" I dunno why I said that. But she is cute. "Yes, she is! Hey, Amai! Aren't you pretty?" Amai chirps as she asks, scooping up her Eevee.

"Look! This is Mirial, Miri or Mira for short!"

"Cute." After all, I shouldn't need to pretend enthusiasm.  "Yeah, but … what were you doing with Amai, just before I came?"

"Testing her reflexes to she could catch a Pokéball in the air," I say smoothly.  "Oh," Kristen says, nodding.

"Well, I'm going to leave. Bye Kasai! Bye Amai!" she yells, running across the street.

*Kasai*

"Come on, Amai," I say, standing up. I'd best go and talk to the kids in the neighborhood. Or just one more. A girl runs out of a house next to Kristen's house right as Kristen closes the door to her house. Something is darting along beside her.

I know I should go over there and talk to her, but that's just not my style. She has flaming red hair, kinda like mine, and is wearing a dark blue shirt with a Pokéball on it, along with green shorts. She starts jogging over to Kristen's house, but stops when she sees me.

"Hey! You're new around here, right?" she asks, but it seems more like a challenge. "Yeah. What type of Pokémon do you have?" I ask. I want to see all of the Pokémon there are to see, and own as many as I can.

"A Shinx. You?" Again, it sounds like a challenge. "Torchic," I say. "Um, the Shinx isn't native to Hoenn, is it?" I ask. She laughs, shaking her head. "No, it's from Sinnoh."

"Where are you from? I can tell you aren't from Sinnoh, but still." I purse my lips, saying, "Johto,"

She nods. "Ah. You just moved in across from Kristen, right?"

"Yeah," I say. "Hey! I have an idea!" she says. "What?" I snap. "Have you done any battles with your Torchic?" I shake my head no. "Perfect! I haven't either! Do you want to?"

"Sure. As long as it's quick. I want to get on the road." She raises an eyebrow. "You're leaving too? What a coincidence. I am too! Just to let you know, the PC and PokéMart are just down the street."

~~~~~
Okay, I thought we could "Battle" with anyone we engaged with during or after a post.  As CL and I's Pokémon are the same levels, the one with the most numbers (add all the numbers together) will go first.
I have 310, you have 263. (I promise I am not cheating, I just saw all their numbers added up on the wiki, and I thought we could use that.)
If we're fighting with an NPC, we control both charries.
So Amai is "Pecking", which leaves Volataire at 5 health. END TURN! Your turn, CL!
submitted by Cho Chang
(May 18, 2016 - 1:57 pm)
I thought, at this level, Amai only had Scratch and Growl? By "Pecking" do you mean the move Peck or just an action?
Voltaire uses "Tackle", leaving you at 10 HP. Or should it be 9, since Voltaire has a higher attack stat and Amai's defense isn't much higher? Hm, though, looks like this won't end well for Voltaire, though.
submitted by Clouded Leopard
(May 18, 2016 - 5:49 pm)
"Scratch" is what I meant to use. Sorry about that. :P
Yeah, I think should be at 9. It makes more sense to me anyways. So Amai's is using "Peck", and defeats Voltaire.
SYSTEM FOR XP:
First, take however many moves you used, eg, 2, then multiply it by ten.
Then, add all of your stats together, eg, 310
And subtract it by your opponents stats, eg, 263 leaving me with 47,  then add the first and second numbers together! Leaving me with the final result of:
67 exp.
Amai is a Lvl 5, meaning that Amai had leveled up to Lvl 6! (To find out how much exp you need to level up, take your current level, and multiply it by ten.)
I'll post another story addition tomorrow!
Venice~
The sun shines through the bright red curtains hanging from the window, showering me in the otherwise invisible dust mites. I sit up, tossing back the red quilt. Everything in this house is red; my uncle is a Fire-Type trainer, and he says he wants to build a gym. He's really good, too; I bet he could do it.
I've been staying with my uncle for months, ever since my parents had to go away on a business trip to the Johto Region. But we live here in Hoenn, and I really didn't want to leave, so I came here instead. I don't know many people; I'm kind of an indoor person, and much prefer hanging out with my uncle's Pokémon. Some of them he's had for a really long time, like his Blaziken. I love that Blaziken. It's so big and powerful and magestic and in my opinion the best Pokémon ever. But I would never have a chance of getting that guy; he was one of my uncle's first Pokémon.
I pull on some clothes-- jeans and a long sleeved shirt (red, of course)-- and make my way downstairs. I can hear my uncle making breakfast already.
"Morning!" I call.
"Good morning!" he replies, not even looking up. He knows exactly where I'm going.
To the back of the house, open the door-- I love this room more than anything. It's got a whole wall full of Pokéballs, all my uncle's, all labelled according to Pokémon. I make my way to his Blaziken, but something catches my eye right next to it.
It's just another Pokéball, maybe a bit newer than the rest-- that just means my uncle's caught something else. I never touch the new ones because they aren't trained yet, but this is different.
I take the Pokéball of the shelf so I can better read the neon green post-it. To Venice, it says.
There must be a mistake! I run back to my uncle, and he laughs. "It's no mistake. I found someone for you yesterday. Go on, open it up."
Of course I'm going to! I toss the ball in the air, and out comes a Pokémon I instantly recognize: a Cyndaquil! My uncle's gotten me a starter fire Pokémon!
"What's this for?" I ask, looking at the little mousy creature. Its flames aren't going at the moment; in fact, it's all curled up. I don't blame it, it's definitely frightened.
"You've gotta find something better to do than drool over my Blaziken," he laughs. "So, what are you going to name him?"
I pause. I want our names to alliterate-- I'd decided that many times as I'd thought about Pokémon I'd want to own. But what should I call him?
"Vaal," I say. I don't know where the name comes from, but I like it, and he looks like a Vaal. The Cyndaquil peeks his head out.
"He already knows his name!" my uncle says. "Hold on, I've got one more thing for you--" and he hands me his old Pokédex. "I just got a new one, so I figured this should go to some good use."
I grin. "Thank you!"
Scooping up Vaal, whose flames still aren't flickering, I go outside. What makes a Cyndaquil show its flames? Doesn't it do it all the time?
I flip open the Pokédex and find Cydaquil. Cyndaquil,
the Fire Mouse Pokémon. Normally mild and even tempered, Cyndaquil will
shoot a scorching flame out of its back when upset
.
That doesn't help me!
Slowly, with a lot of stroking, talking, and many repititions of "Vaal," he slowly begins to socialize a bit more and soon is acting completely adorable. So, Vaal isn't showing his flames. He will eventually.
"I'm going for a walk!" I shout to my uncle. Maybe he'll warm up a bit then.
This is kind of strange. Everyone has the same birthday......
Moonstone~ I wake up to a Swablu nuzzling my face. Unconsciously, I reach up to stroke it, but then stop. Where did it come from? I sit bolt upright, sending the Swablu squawking into the air. Brushing a strand of hair out of my face, I get out of bed. After I dress, the Swablu settles resolutely on my head. Its cottony wings brush my face slightly as I walk out of my room to the kitchen. My mum is at the stove, making pancakes, and she smiles at me when I enter the room. I smile back, pointing at the Swablu."Like my new hat?" I joke. She grins."I hoped you'd like her, Moonstone! I found her alone in the Hondew Berry bushes last night. She was probably knocked out of her best by the storm. I figured you'd want to keep her so I put her in your room."
"Thanks, Mum! She's really cute." The Swablu croons softly, still nestled in my hair. "I think I'll call her Zia ."
~~~

After eating breakfast, I head outside. Mum suggested that I interact with some of the other kids in the neighborhood. Zia rests in a Pokèball at my side. I can't wait to start training her!

Coco says that everybody gets to start out with a thousand money.

*Kasai*

I've beaten my first trainer. And I have absolutely no experiance. This is a little weird for me. "Good game." the girl says, but she seems a little let down. "Oh, by the way, what's your name?" she asks.

"Kasai Hana. You?" she nods, saying, "Ginger." she says. "Here's your money." she says quietly, pressing some into my hand. I look at it. 100. She scoops up the fainted Shinx, pops him into his Pokéball, and speeds away. "Amai. Come back." I command, and she goes back into the Pokéball.

I follow Ginger to the PC, and stand in line, waiting for her. Thank goodness that it doesn't take long. I hand Amai over to the lady at the counter, who takes her away for a moment.

She hands her back, saying, "Thank you, and please come again." I take the Pokéball, tucking it away into my bag.

I walk out of the PC, going straight over to the PokéMart. I look through the store, and then a thought occurs to me. I wonder if Mom or Dad gave me any money. I look in the bag, and sure enough, there's a thousand.

I grab a couple of things and go up to the counter. A potion, and three PokéBalls. Costs me 350.

I turn around, accidentally bumping into a girl who looks just a little younger than me. "Sorry." I mumble. "Ah, it's okay." She says with a smile. She has red hair too. Do all the girls in Littleroot have red hair except for Kristen?!

Ginger

~~

I sit on the grass outside my house, the wind of cool breeze on my neck. Voltaire is beside me, curled into a ball. I think back to the battle against Kasai, a tinge of sadness returning with it. Voltaire had fought so hard, but in the end the little Torchic had gotten the better of him. I glanced down at Voltaire, who is turned away. "Aww, Voltaire," I said, smiling sadly. "You don't think it was your fault, do you?" No reply. "Well, it's not. And don't worry, next time, we'll be sure to win!" Voltaire finally looks up, and this time he looks happy. I jump to my feet, full of new energy. Voltaire purrs and stands up beside me.

"Now, come on!" I shouted, running off towards Route 101. "Let's go train!"

~~

So, for training, I thought that we could go by levels every training session. For instance, level 5-10 range increases by five levels. So if Ginger trained Voltaire now, he'd be about level 9. The more levels you go up, the harder it gets until you only go one or two levels for a much higher level session. If that makes sense.
