The Writing Thing!!!!

The Writing Thing!!!!

So I had an idea about: what if we had a writing cluby thing. So we will each have our places (explained below) and we will make a whole book (or series!)!

We can have a max of 10 points.

One point jobs

Charrier: Designs the Charrie 1-2 people

Charrie Sculpter: will sculpt the charries in 3D 1-2 people

Two point jobs:

Animater (drawer): draws on computer 1-2 people

object designer: designs what original objects look like 1-3 people

food/clothes/everyday thing designer: designs food, clothes, etc. 1-4 people

Three point jobs:

hand drawer: draws stuff by hand 1-2 people

Drafter/lister: lays everything out 1-2 people

Nature designer: designs the landscape of the world 2-4 people

Four point jobs:

Spelling Police: checks final story's  spelling 1-2 people

Grammar Police: checks final story's grammar 1-2 people

Five point jobs:

Final Writer: writes the final book/story

So there we go. I pick

Charrie Designer (1)

Object designer (3)

Lister (6)

Nature designer (9)

Oh also we have to agree on pretty much everything so yeah. I will bring up a main charrie later bye!

I'm here!!! :D :D :D :D :D

I invented a few common artifacts and things. When I was making them, I guess I was expecting the story to be a typical fantasy. Oh, well. I'll just type them up anyway, and you can decide whether or not to use them.

Some of these objects were designed for a Common Class, and some for an Upper Class.

REGULAR ARTIFACTS:

Fare-board: A simple, often thick-hewn board of wood, used by the Common Folk in place of Upper-Class tables. Every Commoner has his or her own Fare-board.

A Fare-board is typically laid upon the floor or across the knees, and food is laid upon and eaten off of it.

Most Fare-boards are hollowed out inside and packed with True-faith. This makes it a secure place for food and personal belongings. Because of this, Fare-boards are fiercely guarded by their possessors.

Fare-boards are often personalized by their owners-- original carvings and, sometimes, simple paint is applied.

PLANTS AND VICTUALS:

Beefnut: A large, commonly-found nut, with a soft shell and a meaty inside. Beefnuts contain a thick juice, which is extracted when the nut is placed over heat.  Extracted Beefnut-juice forms a rich, flavorful, nourishing sauce-like-substance which is called "Dripping".

Forage-and-dripping: A common meal in which a communal bowl of Dripping is placed on the floor or ground, and each family member dips his or her own findings of that day, called "Foragings" (meat, fish, vegetables, mushrooms, fruit etc.) into the dripping.  Commoners stow their Foragings within a satchel or Fare-board, and guard them jealously. The amount of Foragings consumed by a Commoner per day depends on the season, the climate, and most importantly, that Commoner's own skill at 'foraging'.

True-faith: A common herb that grows most anywhere, True-faith is known for its supposed ability to determine the loyalty of one's friends.  When crushed, this remarkable herb gives off a sweet fragrence if your friends have kept your secrets and acted faithfully. If your comrades are disloyal, a stench of sickness and decay comes forth.

On the practical side, True-faith has extraordinary preserving properties, and is used to preserve food and valuable or perishable possessions. When packed about an object, that object will remain whole and good for long stretches of time.

This, it is said, goes to show True-faith's own loyalty in guarding those things entrusted to it, and its adeptness and reliability in determining the 'true faith' of one's friends.

First-Night-Out: This small, bright flowers, shaped like a cross between a lily and a carnation, grow in tiny clusters of pink and gold and are scattered freely about the land. Their cheerful blossoms open only in the evening and are shut again before dawn.

Lesser Obel-lith: More commonly known as "Love-is-Fleeting", Lesser Obel-lith is a flower to be found only in the private gardens of the Upper Class.  Possessed of a strong, slender stem and broad, shapely leaves, Lesser Obel-lith blooms only in the late spring-tide, and never regrows.  The flowers, when in bloom, can be any variety of colors. Indeed, no Lesser Obel-lith seed has ever produced an array of tints and hues identical to another.

But most remarkable of all is the shape of the blooms. No two Lesser Obel-liths are alike in form-- the petals of each individual flower curl, interweave, and entwine in a highly intricate and beautiful pattern-- and each pattern is perfectly and completely unique.

The uniqueness and short blossoming time of these flowers has made the purchase of their seeds a most expensive enterprise. Lesser Obel-liths can not be preserved in any way, at any time in their cycle, and fresh blooms are exceedingly difficult to purchase.

The Common Folk know of Lesser Obel-lith only from story and hear-say, but they have embraced this flower into their own legends and folk-tales as though the enigmatic grew upon their own doorsteps. It was the Common Folk who gave Lesser Obel-lith it's now popular name, "Love-is Fleeting", referring to temporary bloom of the beautiful flower. The name eventually spread to the Upper Class, and that is all this extraordinary blossom has ever been called since.

CLOTHING:

Slash-shift: Worn by Common Folk of both genders, the Slash-shift is like a long, loose, straight shirt, often worn over leggings or breeches.

The Slash-shift gets its name from the way in which it is usually made. In the absence of such luxuries as sewing-scissors, Common Folk cut the shift out of rough material with a knife or sharp stone, 'slashing' the garment into shape.  This article is usually stitched together with tough reeds and grasses, and worn loose or fastened with a belt or cord.  Women's Slash-shifts are often longer than men's.

This garment is a muddled brown in color, and is seldom dyed by any except the rare wealthier branch of Common Folk. The Slash-shift is often personalized with a characteristic belt fastened in as artistic and original a manner as can be contrived.

Asthron: A long, loose garment, rather like a shapeless skirt. When worn, its top hem reaches halfway up the torso and falls to the knee (when worn by men) or to the floor (when worn by women). It is among the most standard garments a Higher-Class person wears.

Nikrej: This garment, which resembles a long, leather tunic, is worn over an Asthron by the  Higher Class. It has capped sleeves and is often finely embroidered. When worn, it falls to the thigh for males, and to the knee for females. Nikrejs are seldom dyed, for style's sake, and are accompanied by enormous, colorful, highly-embroidered sashes, wound all about and around the form in whatever way indicated by present style. For the current fashion, it can take up to 15 minutes to wrap one's sash.

Note: You may have noticed that all of these garments are naturally loose, and may be fitted to the form with a belt or sash. I imagined this as the style for this fantasy-world-- both practical and artistic.

That's all for now! Please tell me if you can make use of all this :)

This is awesome, Esthelle!  This can work with the following:

Cho's plot, Bumblebuddy plot 1, Vikki plot 2, and Scylla plot.

Thanks, Cho!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D I hope it works out! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I don't think I'll design anything else until I know what the plot will be.

So both you and Scylla are Final Writers! That's wonderful! I'm looking forward to it.

If it's not irritating and in-the-way, could I do some Final Writing, too?

I like describing things, so I was thinking that I could possibly do a few passages in between your and Scylla's character-POV chapters?  I mean those passages that take up in a place a long ways away from all the characters and describes a character or country yet to be encountered.

It's fine if I can't. :) Is there something I can do, besides object designing?

Just a warning-

There are some plots and genres I won't write in.

If an agreeable plot is elected, you can write the prologue and epilogue, Esthelle.

And you guys know I'm just going to turn my plot into a book anyway, with or without interference.

Hmmm … Could you get a YWP NaNo account? If you can, then you could probably help with the final writing.

I'm wondering if I can draw the things that Esthelle creates, because she has a lot more creative ideas than I do! (: I can still help create things, but I might just draw them instead? Is that okay?

Also- if this is okay with everyone and I can draw other people's ideas, please tell me if I drew your idea wrong, because I would be happy to redo it.

Here's a more detailed description of my animals:

Leafs: Look like dik-diks with small, shimmery antlers. Their colors range from light blue to sunet pink and all the shades in between (including deeper hues).

N'gaeras: Basically giant Komodo Dragons. Even more giant than they are now. They can breathe Myst which I will explain later if my plot is elected.

Ferrins: Hyrax-like critters with fur ranging from russet red to storm gray, ash gray, and brown. Very loyal, cheerful, and helpful. They live in small scurries (a group of Ferrins is called a scurry) under the roots of trees in burrow networks.
