Okay, i'm back!!!!!!!!! After, um sorry, 3 months!!!!!! I was slowly being buried and trapped in my room from the writing awards iIve won in the past couple of months!!!!!! Anyone want to hear my Nazi story that won an award????? It's from the point of view of a former Nazi as he is sitting in his trial and thinking back to seventy years ago, the holocast. It's called "Remembering." Anybody want to hear it??????????

None of us really know what their options were.

Yeah, I dunno--"I didn't have a choice" seems a bit flaky. But he's really nice . . . *frown* Most people don't like him simply because of that. It's a hard thing. *sigh* Well, at least I'm not related to him: my real great-grandfather died a REALLY long time ago, but I don't remember him at all . . . *trails off, thinking about the family soap opera*

How are you not related? If you don't want to answer that's okay, but it's intriguing!

Well, my REAL great-grandfather died a long time ago, and I don't remember him at all, and he (the Nazi dude) is my great-grandmother's third husband. It was funny going to her wedding two years ago when she was ninety (yeah, ninety . . .). The first wedding I went to was the wedding of a ninety-year-old woman: sounds pretty silly, doesn't it? ;) But now, sadly, she's losing her memory and she's in the hospital. Sometimes she doesn't recognize us anymore. :(

A book that you'll like: The Devil's Arithmetic by Jane Yolen. My grandma's uncle came from Russia. And on my dad's dad's side I am the fifth generation from Russia. My mom, I have no idea.

Yay!!!!! People remember me!!! ok, here's part 1 of my story "Remembering"
"Please stand." The judge's voice is hard, unforgiving. I stand, my knees shaking. As the prosecutor rattles off his list of complaints, I think back. Seventy years ago. I got away with i. Only now was I caught. Seventy years ago...the time of the Nazis and Hitler. And I was with them.
I can still remember the feel of my polished boots, how i stood taller in them as I marched down the the streets of our Fatherland. The Jews bowed to me, fear of punishment lingering in their minds. I spat at their feet. They should not roam freely in great Germany. I remember how i reached for my gun as I saw them, but I decided to wait. Wait for the trains...
OK, there's part one! Ready for part two, o circle of wide-eyed listeners?

Definitely! You're a great writer; keep it up. Coincidentally, my Hebrew School class is studying the Holocaust this year.

Go on! I really want to know about this nasty Nazi dude! :)

Part 2:
...And the trains came, I remember ow I sealed the door to the cars, how the Jews inside screamed and kicked. And I remember how it felt as the train pulled out. It felt wonderful.
Another train came for me, lush velvet seats and fine food. I remember how it trailed the Jewish trains, over towering mountains, through the towns of the Fatherland. I remember finally seeing the death camp before us; we called it Buchenwald. I watched the Jews climb out, dazed and thin. I knew they were soon to be no more; disappearing into the smoke that poured into the sky. I remember watching them herded into an airtight building. Never to come out.
And I remember throwing my head back and gleefully laughing, surrounded by the smoke, fire, and ashes. I laughed in Buchenwald...
Story time will continue tomorrow, children :)
