Round Robin!

Round Robin!

Hey guys! So I have a really great idea for a story, but just the beginning. So I thought, well, why not a round robin? For those of you who do not know what a round robin is, it is where someone starts a story, and then other people add on to it and create new characters and basically just write a story together. Okay, so here goes:

"Darwin? Come here you fat slug!" Callie called. Darwin was her young domesticated hedgehog, who was also slightly overweight. It took him a while, but he eventually waddled out of the rasperry bushes, looking defeated. Callie jogged over to him and scooped him up. He was only about a month old, so he wasn't very heavy and he was only about the size of her palm. "Have you been eating raspberries again? We won't get any berries this year if you don't stop eating!" She teased him while tickling his belly. He grunted in response. She let him wander around a bit while she tended to her small patch of garden in the backyard, yanking out the weeds that were choking her carrots. Out of the corner of her eye, she suddenly saw a college-age boy stumbling around noisily who hadn't been there before. "Nice try, Tom. Next time I would try to be a little more coordinted and not make so much noise, though," she said, not even looking up. He walked over to her, grinning. "Aw, come on Cal, lighten up and have some fun once in a while," Tom said. Callie looked up at him, glaring. He started to laugh. The thing about her brother was, that even if you didn't want to be in a good mood, his laugh was so contagious that you were forced to. Callie tried to keep her mouth in a frown, but it disobeyed and curved upwards into a wide grin.

"Cal, I think you know more about teleporting than I do, even though I've had my liscense for a year!" Tom said as they walked back to the house, Darwin waddling behind them. Callie laughed as she scooped the panting hedgehog into her arms and stroked his back gently. Little did she know that that was the last lime she would laugh and joke for a long, long time.

Skirch.....

Skirch.....

Skirch.....

Callie woke with a start, hearing the strange skratching coming from the corner of her room. She gave an involuntairy gasp, and looked around for a means of self-defence.

Skirch... Skirch... Skirch... The sound came again. Was it just Callie's imagination or was it getting closer? In a panic Callie grabbed her bedside lamp and held it above her head like a club. She crept over to the source of the noise and saw Darwin looking reprochfully back at her as the fat hedgehog scratched at the corner of her desk. Callie picked up Darwin and put him back in his cage, surprised to see she had left it unlocked. She could have sworn she had latched it before going to bed. Yawning, Callie went back to sleep.

Skirch... Skirch... Skirch... Several hours later, Callie woke up, hearing a noise. Grumbling, she rolled over and went back to sleep, deciding that whatever was making the noise could wait until morning.
