NEW Gravity Falls

NEW Gravity Falls rp!

No more than five people. I REPEAT: NO. MORE. THAN. FIVE.

Name: Mari (short for Marina) Eldritch

Age: 12

Gender: F

Personality: Bold, swift, very smart, perceptive, clever, and sly. A bit irritable.

Secrets (yes, no, and if so, what): She's the last monster huntress in a long line, and she wants to rid Gravity Falls of darkness... especially of a certain triangle.

Nickname: Bill Cipher calls her Fishy (she's slippery, hard to trace, and swims well), and of course people call her Mari.

Appearance: Light blonde hair with shocks of bright blue, sea green eyes, pale but never tans or burns.

Other: Has dream/mind-scapey powers like telekinesis and telepathy and can enter some people's minds. Bill likes her and wants to train her ("If you'd just stop trying to kill me!").

No! Top!

Illustri~

Finally the bus pulls in. It says SPEEDY BEAVER on the side and GRAVITY FALLS, OR. on the destination LED board. It's empty. I jump down off the terminal and step onto the bus, wearing my backpack.

"Is that it?" the bus driver, a man with a bulky physique and a large beard, asks me.

"Yes," I say stiffly. "Just myself, my backpack, and no questions asked."

He nods. "Ten bucks. It'll be a long ride from Reno to Gravity Falls," he tells me. "Bathroom's in the back." I nod. "Thank you." I hand him ten dollars from my wallet, which has a pentagram on it, and choose a seat in the back of the bus, my backpack in my lap. The bus roars like some great monster and barrels off down the road.

Jesse~

I look out the window, shuffling the one piece of Gravity Falls I have. A page. One single page.

It shows... I can't quite tell. Rips and scribbles everywhere, and when there is letters, they are cryptograph.

But a few words and pictures stand out.

DON'T TRUST BILL.

That's all the words I can find. More and more and more of those single words.

And so many pictures of... Of triangles. Strange triangles with... With bow ties.

I am visiting Gravity Falls to try to figure out what was behind my parents' death. Is this... Bill person, this triangle, the one behind it all?

The bus stops, and a kid walks in, glancing around. I stuff the page into my pocket as she comes by. Thankfully, she sits two rows behind me.

I take out the page again and study it. Don't trust bill, don't trust bill... Who is Bill? Yes, a bow-tie wearing triangle but... What did he do?

I notice a girl with dirty blonde hair sitting two rows in front of me. I swear in my head-- why haven't I noticed her before? Oh, well. She looks a few years older than me. I hear a rustle. She pulls out a piece of paper. Old. It's ripped and I can't make it out, but it radiates a supernatural energy. Very faintly, like it isn't supernatural itself, but is related to it. I curl my hand into a fist. What could it be?

Bill knows, probably, but I'm not going to summon him right here, right now. I'll wait until I'm alone. But... I grab a permanent marker from my backpack and draw a Bill Cipher on the back of my hand. I place my hand strategically so that while it looks casual, the drawing of Bill has a good view of the page. Instantly it stings, signifying, We've got an enemy. I need to talk to you ASAP.

Well, what did I bring the sleep aid for? I take a couple of the pills and immediately start getting drowsy. I didn't get a full night's sleep last night, either... I yawn and fall asleep.

I'm still on the bus. But Bill is floating in front of me. I nod in greeting.

"Listen, Bat," Bill Cipher says, "that girl has a page of this journal. On me. I don't think she knows a lot yet, but she is not going to be very cooperative. Not a good ally here."

"She hasn't gotten too far yet, has she?" I ask, slightly alarmed.

"No," Bill tells me. Then he laughs. "The girl hasn't even tried to decode the cryptograms yet! It's funny how dumb she is." I smile. But then his expression turns serious. "BUT. It won't be too long before she figures them out. You need to get that paper destroyed before she decodes them. There's big things coming and I don't need Vengeance Girl gettin' in my way."

"Vengeance Girl?" I ask.

"It's only a matter of time before she finds out who's behind her parents' disappearance," he explains. "Okay, one more thing. This guy? Owner of a tourist trap? He has a portal. We need that thing in OUR control and not his. We don't need further complications here." I nod. "Well, time for me to get cracking. And remember, REALITY IS AN ILLUSION, THE UNIVERSE IS A HOLOGRAM, BUY GOLD, BYYYYYYE!" There's a flash of light, and Bill is gone.

I wake up a little groggy but otherwise fine. The bus is stopping.

Mari-

I survey the various passengers  on the bus. There's a goth-looking girl who looks suspiciously like a darkness-worshipper (could she be in cahoots with... perhaps? I shouldn't jump to conclusions.) and a girl clutching a page of notebook in her hand discreetly.

I grab her wrist. "Annie! So good to see you!" I say, dragging her into an alley before she can protest.

"What on earth, girl?" The girl says, jerking her hand out from my grip and going pale when she saw my knife.

Ha, it's more dangerous than she thinks. It's darkemetal.

"I'm not going to hurt you," I say, dropping the knife, "but please... let me see that page. I can decode cryptograms. That girl out there isn't what she seems. I don't want to hurt you, just, please, come with me to the Mystery Shack and trust me."

The girl pauses and I notice her nametag says "Jesse"...

I narrow my eyes. The girl's knife is Darkemetal. Not good. She's probably anti-Bill.

I step off the bus and am almost knocked backwards. The supernatural prescence... it's everywhere. Omnipresent. Buzzing, humming. It's more concentrated in some places, but always there.

I take out my instant camera and start photoraphing everything in what I hope is a touristy way. I occasionally add comments such as "Wow!" or "Amazing!" to really try and sell the act. I discreetly snap a portrait of the Darkeknife girl and keep moving, photographing everything as I go.

As soon as I'm out of sight, I take off for the forest. Here, the supernatural prescence is stronger even than in the town. When I'm reasonably far away, I begin. I place the photo of the girl into a frame, cross out the eyes, and set eight candles around it. I light them all, shake out the match, and recite the incantation.

"Triangulum, entangulum. Meteforis dominus ventium. Meteforis venetisarium!"

My eyes glow blue. I hear myself say "backwards message" in reverse five times. All the color is sucked out of the world. A butterfly fluttering by slows and stops in midair.

A triangle with flaming edges, displaying the cosmos, appears before me. One eye opens as it cackles. There's a flash of light, and Bill Cipher is floating in front of me. It worked.

Jesse~

I sigh, knowing this may be my last chance to find out what happened to my parents.

"Fine," I reply, handing her the page and stuffing my other hand into my pocket. she smiles and slowly reads the words.

"The.. Portal...Keep away..." She squints. "Keep away from... Bill..."

She looks at it more closely.

"Bill will use it..." Her eyes widen. "To... I can't read the rest."

She looks up from the paper.

"You probably don't know Bill." She hands me back the paper. "He's a dream demon who goes into people's minds."

"Oh, that sounds lovely." I point to the triangles. "Is that what he looks like?"

"Pretty much." She looks at me. "Name's Mari. Nice to meet you, Jesse."

I frown.

"But who was this girl? Why di-" Mari covers my mouth, stopping me.

"Someone is here."

(For some reason I decided to switch to third person.)

Mari-

Marina sighed and sheathed her knife. Her eyes darted about before she took Jesse's hand and ran into the alley.

"Listen closely," Marina said, pressing bothherself and Jesse against the wall, "that girl... I can tell she's bad. Possibly in cahoots with..."

Marina didn't finish the thought, as though saying it would make it true. Jesse's eyes widened.

"How do you know that?" Jesse asked, voice guarded.

"Um... I can't say that."

"Oh," Jesse said, voice tinged with distrust, "okay."

"Come on," said Marina, "I'll show you the Mystery Shack.
