Chatterbox: Inkwell

I sat waiting on the concrete steps of my school. The big bold letters of 'Tiskman Junior High' stood out on the big sign in the freshly mowed super-green grass. I looked at my watch, something I had been doing every few seconds for the last hour. "4:30" I read outloud. "Where is she?" The 'she' I was referring to was my big sister Nikki. She had promised to pick me up after school, which had ended exactly one hour and thirty minutes ago.

I spotted a fuzz falling from the air, I picked it up and put the it in the palm of my hand. "I wish my sister would get here in the next five seconds!" I whispered blowing the fuzz from my hand. A heard footsteps behind me, I turned around and looked up at a girl about my age, her green eyes where twinkling. "Making a wish?" she asked smiling down at me. "Uh...yeah." I blushed and looked at the ground. A pebble lay near my shoe, I kicked it away.

"Yeah...I do that sometimes too." she sat down and laughed. "So, waiting for someone?" I rolled my eyes "Yes! My sister. It's been almost two hours since I sat down, and she still isn't here yet!" I looked over at her "What are you doing here?" Her eyes twinkled again "I got permission to practice my gymnastics in the school gym....hmmm, oh by the way, I'm Madison." she reached out her hand and I took it firmly "I'm Kammie."

She brushed her almost-white bangs out of her eyes "Nice name...." just then a big red van pulled up. Madison grinned at me, "That's my ride got to go....oh why don't you sit with me at lunch tommorow." I nodded yes, and she leapt in the van. Just as her 'ride' pulled out, my sister pulled in. I smiled, no longer feeling angry. I even hugged my sister as I got in her car. As she drove down the rode, I was extremely glad my wish hadn't come true.
