Does anyone remember
Does anyone remember the superhero RP? The one that Brookeira started last July? Well I do, and I decided to write the origin story of my character, Draco! Call it a prequel if you will, or an RPrequel (see what I did there?)
It was a beautiful day in the city of Belle Rever, but a young boy named Draco Taller was sitting on the steps of his apartment, sulking.
Draco's parents were loading the trunk of their minivan, preparing for a trip to the countryside. "Come on, Drake," Draco's mom insisted. "We're only staying at your aunt's house for a week! It'll be nice to get out of this stuffy city for once, and get some fresh air!"
"But she lives in the woods," Draco mumbled. "There's snakes in the woods. I don't like snakes."
Draco's father laughed one of his hearty chuckles, the kind that made everyone within earshot want to smile. "Who's afraid of a few snakes? You're not afraid of that scorion down by the factory, why should snakes scare you?"
Draco looked up. "Her name's Layla," he said irritibly. "And she's really nice. Much nicer than a snake."
Draco's older sister, Eleanor, burst energetically out the front door, carrying a huge suitcase. "I'm ready to go, Mom!" she exclaimed.
"Great, Ellie," Mom replied. "Just load it in the trunk, and we'll be all set."
Eleanor threw her suitcase in the trunk, and glanced back at Draco. "He's coming, right?" she asked.
"Oh, he's coming all right. Draco, get in the car!" Mom called out, this time sternly. Draco sighed but did as he was told, getting into the backseat. Eleanor sat next to him. "Aunt Edna's not that bad," she said, looking at him. "I can't see what you're so worried about!"
Draco and Eleanor's parents entered the minivan, Dad at the wheel. The man started the car, and they were off.
No one said a word during the trip. Dad whistled a bit, but that was all. Draco stared out of the window, watching the city of Belle Rever whizz by. Soon, apartments like his turned into small houses, and then smaller ranch cottages. Belle Rever's ranches were set up by a mysterious organization called TEA. His best friend Layla was a scorion, a human with the ability to shapeshift into a lion, and she lived on one of the ranches with a few others of her kind. She claimed that TEA had rescued her and the other scorions from a hostile environment, but the girl's eyes were full of pain every time she retold the tale. Draco suspected that Layla and the others were hiding something, and TEA was not as good-natured as it seemed.
Which, besides the snakes, was one reason why Draco most definitely did not want to visit his Aunt Edna. She worked for TEA.
That's all I have time to write for now! Tell me if you want to hear more!

I'm on the edge of my chair, I'm tellin ya. *makes hand motion* C'mon, what's next? :D

Hi, Noelle! Glad you like it so far!
The minivan sped through the countryside for several hours. Draco thought that they would never reach his aunt's house. Draco remembered it being a long drive, but certainly not this long. It was only when the sun started to set that the young boy's parents began to get worried.
"Do you think we took a wrong turn?" Mom asked anxiously, studying a map by the dwindling sunlight. "Maybe we shouldh've turned down that dirt road a couple miles back..."
"We're fine, dear," Dad reassured. "I know where I'm going." The man took his eyes off the road for a split second to smile at his wife, but when he looked back at the road, he cursed and slammed the breaks.
Two figures had appeared in the middle of the road, seemingly out of nowhere. Draco's father had just barely missed running them over. The figures had no viable features, they were just silhouettes in the setting sun.
"Maybe they can give us directions," Mom pointed at the figures, unfazed at their sudden appearance.
"You kidding?" Dad yelled. "I almost turned them into roadkill!"
Ignoring her husband, Mom stepped out of the car and started walking towards the figures. "Excuse me, sirs? We're lost, could you...?"
Instead of replying, the figures raised strange cylindrical objects which glowed blue.
Draco realized one moment too late that they were weapons.
An echoing boom erupted from one of the cylinders, and time slowed down. All Draco could see was fire. His ears were ringing from the volume of the blast, but he was sure someone was screaming. He felt himself being flung through the air, flying for a split second.
Then the boy came to his sense again. He was rolling, tumbling down a steep hill. Finally, he struck a tree at the bottom, stopping his momentum. Draco looked up the hill he had just fell down. The car was at the top, and to his horror, it was engulfed in flames. There was no sign of his parents, but he spotted the two figures leading what appeared to be Eleanor away to who knows where.
"ELEANOR!" too injured to stand, all Draco could do was yell his sister's name.

I'm writing too!
BTW, I'm not starting now. But it's going to be the years in between rp 1 and rp 2. I'll start in April or something.
(March 26, 2015 - 9:08 pm)
Okay, but just remember this isn't an RP.
(March 26, 2015 - 9:24 pm)
Awesome! Keep it up!
(March 26, 2015 - 8:42 pm)
Could I write Layla's story after yours, JBE? Or after Brookeira's?
(March 27, 2015 - 8:44 am)
Sure! I'll post my story in three days...
(March 27, 2015 - 11:14 am)
Whoa, I never knew you could write like that! Amazing! {:
(March 27, 2015 - 11:20 am)
Draco lay at the base of the tree for what seemed like an eternity. His legs ached from the fall, and his mind reeled from what had happened. Who were those two men? What were they going to do to Eleanor? Worst of all, had his parents really died in the explosion? Even with the grim likelihood of his parent's death, Draco didn't cry. He just sat there, bewildered.
"You're hurt."
Draco sat bolt upright. He could've sworn there was just a voice. He glanced nervously around the dark forest. Nothing. Then the boy realized the true hopelessness of his situation. Alone. At night. In the woods. Probably with a broken leg. Would anyone find him?
"I can help you."
That time, Draco was certain he'd heard someone talk. It was a warm voice, one that reminded him of bonfires in the depths of winter. But still, there was no one in sight.
"Who's there?" Draco called out into the darkness. He waited desperately for a response.
"Promise not to be scared?" the voice asked.
"Scared? Why would I be...?"
"You've never seen anything like me before," the voice responded. "I can help you, but you must first promise to trust me."
"Um, alright, I trust you," Draco said. "Just please tell me what's going on!"
Suddenly, Draco heard soft footsteps crunching across the leaves on the forest floor. A man with a red beard stepped out from behind a tree. Even though it was nighttime, Draco could clearly make out the man's features, as if his skin was giving off a faint glow. It was weird, but certainly not scary.
Draco cracked a smile. "Is that supposed to scare me?"
"This isn't my true form," the man replied briskly. "It's my true form that could frighten you, but I can't risk any other humans catching sight of me here."
"Humans?" Draco asked bewilderedly. "You mean you're not one? What are you, a scorion?"
No, I'm not a scorion, and I'm not going to show you what I am until we get to a safer place. A place where no one can find us."
Draco shook his head. "I just lost half of my family, do you think you could do me a favor and say something that makes sense?"
"I'll explain everything once we get to my home. Now, grab my hand." The man stuck out his palm.
"Could you at least tell me your name?"
"I'm Phoenicious. Now grab my hand, quick."
Draco hesitantly took the man's hand, and the forest dissapeared in a brilliant flash of red light.
(March 27, 2015 - 4:40 pm)
The first thing Draco noticed was that his leg didn't hurt anymore.
The second thing he noticed was that he was standing in front of a volcano.
"What in the..?!" Draco stumbled backwards at the sight. Looking around, he realized he was standing on an island of obsidian, floating like an iceberg in an endless sea of molten lava. More obsidian islands and volcanoes dotted the landscape in the distance, and the sky was a distinct color of burnt orange.
"Where are we?" Draco whirled around, only to find that Phoenicious was nowhere to be seen.
"This is my home, Draco." Draco heard the man's voice.
"Is this a habit of yours? Talking to people but not showing up?"
Phoenicious laughed. "No, Draco. I'm currently changing into my true form. Until I'm completely transformed, I'll only speak to you telepathically."
"Okay," Draco sighed. "Well, why exactly do you live in a sea of lava? And why doesn't my leg hurt anymore?"
"I call this place the fire realm," Phoenicious answered. "You may not believe me now, but it is a very place. It's beyond the limitations of your world. Pain doesn't exist in this safe haven. Haven't you noticed that you feel no heat despite the lava?"
Draco was surprised to find that this was true. He felt no discomfort from the lava. But after what he'd been through in the past few hours, this was not too surprising.
"So, are you finished changing yet?" Draco asked.
"As a matter of fact, I am." Draco heard Phoenicious speak, but when he turned around it was not a red-bearded man standing there.
It was a huge, orange dragon.
(March 27, 2015 - 8:24 pm)
Draco screamed at the sight of the beast. It wasn't the fact that there was a dragon in front of him that freaked him out, but rather the fact that dragons existed.
Dragons existed?
He had known about scorions, and there were quite a few people with funky abilities at the superhero boarding school a few miles from his house, but this was ridiculous. Since when were dragons real?
Draco took a deep breath to calm himself. If armed men could blow up his car with strange weapons, and if a fiery sea where it's impossible to get hurt can exist, so can a dragon.
The dragon, Phoenicious, laughed, although it sounded more like a growl. "I told you my true form would scare you."
"That wasn't funny," Draco replied angrily. "And if this place and you are really real, you have some explaining to do."
The dragon grinned. "Alright boy. Come with me." Phoenicious walked, although from the massive wings on his back it was clear he was capable of much more efficient transportation, leading Draco to a small obsidian cave. The back wall of the cavern was polished, so much so that it seemed to ripple and shimmer, distorting Draco's reflection.
"Stare at the back of the cave," Phoenicious instructed. Draco stared, soon seeing things reflected in the obsidian that were not in the cave. Stars, planets, knights with shining swords. It was amazing.
"This is a magic mirror," Phoenicious said. "It will help me tell you the story of who I am, and why you are here. Are you ready?" Draco nodded, still gazing at the obsidian mirror.
Phoenicious cleared his throat and began. "Several centuries ago, dragons were abundant in your world. We lived in harmony with the humans, but for whatever reason they one day decided that we were a threat. They began to slay us, slowly destroying our species. Finally, there were only four dragons left. I was one of them." Draco saw the dragon's story reflected in the mirror, angry men with catapults launching flaming projectiles at the innocent beasts.
"We fled to the mountains," Phoenicious continued. "We decided that to save our species, each one of us would create a safe haven corresponding with one of four elements. Earth, fire, water and air. As you can clearly tell, I created a world of fire. But, even though we had saved ourselves, we realizes that there was no hope for our species. So, we decided that every hundred years, we would bring a human to one of our worlds, and teach them the ways of the dragon. We hope that in this way, the selected human will become a link between humans and dragons, restoring the friendship that the two species once had."
Draco looked away from the mirror inshock. "That's me, isn't it? I'm the one you want to teach all this dragon stuff to?"
Phoenicious nodded. "You are indeed the one, my boy."
"But how could it be me? I'm not special! I didn't even know dragons were real until a few minutes ago!"
"Draco, your very name means 'dragon'," Phoenicious said. "Your fate was sealed the moment you received that name."
(March 28, 2015 - 8:46 am)
C'mon, keep you writing a-goin'! I actually read the old superhero rp like 5 times.
(March 28, 2015 - 12:06 pm)
Hahahahha! We have an Ellie and a Layla!!! They spelled my name wrong but still......
Bubbles says fdew. Do you mean field dew the entirely lame copy of mountain dew?
(March 28, 2015 - 3:15 pm)
"My... name?" Draco asked. "But my parents named me. Did they know about you?"
Phoenicious nodded solemnly. "This will come as a shock to you, boy, but they knew about me from the very beginning."
Draco's eyes widened. "They knew? Why did they never tell me?"
"Well," said Phoenicious, "We had made arrangements to deliver you to the fire realm once you were old enough to handle it. Your parents had planned to do it on your eighteenth birthday. But you're here early things didn't go as planned, as you can tell from the, well, incident on the road..." the dragon trailed off.
Draco sighed. "My parents really are gone, aren't they."
"I'm afraid so, Draco," Phoenicious said gently. "But you are taking all of this surprisingly well. Any normal human would be having a nervous breakdown in your place. This just proves that you are the very worthy of my teachings."
Draco looked at the dragon. "And what about Eleanor? Is she okay?"
"Your sister is alive, that I can assure you," Phoenicious replied. "But what those men plan to do to her is... difficult to tell."
