New RR!!!

New RR!!!
I know I've been off the CB for a while, but I'm trying to post a little more often. While scrolling through the Inkwell part of the CB, I noticed that we have a boatload of RPs and hardly any RRs. (For those of you who don't know the difference, a RP is where you create a character and write from their point of view, and a RR is where we all work on collaborating on one story without creating our own characters. It's like an add-on or progressive story.) So, I thought it might be cool to start a RR. There's no need to sign up for this, just write if you have time or are interested! And of course, it's fun if we add tons of twists and turns that nobody would be expecting! Alright, I'll start!
--------------------------------
The day was supposed to be special - a day to celebrate her thirteenth birthday with her family and friends - yet as Callie woke up that morning a sudden, daunting reality hit her: her parents were missing.
It all started two weeks ago when her parents left her alone to celebrate their fifteenth wedding anniversary together at a Le Chef de France and then go see a new movie. Her ten year old sister Willow, eight year old sister Annie and seven year old brother Gabriel were all off spending a night at their friends' houses. At the time, Callie was happy to see them go. It meant a night to herself at home - in peace. Peace was a rare gift in Callie's life; it meant that she could take a break from her loud, hectic life and unwind without constantly being disrupted or put on edge. So, that night, she sat down and did everything she never got a chance to do with everyone around: writing in her journal, taking a bubble bath, watching a show she wanted to watch, making cookies without fighting about whose turn it was to do what and by having a solo dance party in her living room. It was great fun . . . that is, until the storm came.
In Callie's town, winter storms weren't uncommon; they happened on a regular basis. That night though, the storm was like one the town hadn't seen in over fifty years. The wind roared as it swept through the streets, blowing any and all loose garbage along with it. The temperature dropped to a dangerous -45 degrees. The snow pelted down from the sky with an intensity that wasn't seen before. As Callie looked out the window, she couldn't even see her neighbor's house. As the clock approached two in the morning, Callie's parents still were not back at home. At first, Callie thought nothing of it: the roads were probably closed and not safe to travel on; they would probably be home in the morning after the storm blew over. Yet, in the morning when she awoke, there was no sign of her parents. As hour after hour passed, Callie began to worried more and more. Where were they? As the hours turned to a day, Callie called the police, reporting both of them as missing. The police failed to ask if she was home alone, so Callie continued on with her life in solitude. Her siblings were supposed to go visit their grandparents after going to their friends' houses for two weeks, so they never came home. Callie was alone, which was what she had wanted, but for two weeks? It was too much.
When Callie woke up on her thirteenth birthday, she knew that she couldn't continue on like this. The police hadn't contacted her, even though she repeatedly called them asking for new information. She didn't want to worry her siblings or grandparents as they all already had to much on their plate. So, when the doorbell rang that morning, Callie was shocked and intrigued. She ran to the door and opened it, only to find a pile of snow at her doorstep and a plain blue envelope with her name: Callie. Curious as to what it was, Callie grabbed the letter and hurried inside. What was this? Was this an answer to the mystery? Whatever it was, Callie knew that it was time she took the matter into her own hands.

Alright, whatever happens next is in the next writer's hands! I can't wait to see where this goes!
FYI everyone, I believe RR stands for Round Robin.

The envelope felt very heavy in Callie's hand as she picked it up. She went to the dining room, took out a knife, and opened it. A cutout from a newspaper slid out and onto the table. it read:

  MISSING

Mr. and Mrs. Lunomus. Last seen at Le Chef De France on Monday, Febuary 14.

Callie put her hand into the envelope again and pulled out the first thing she touched. It was typed.

Just so you know, the police got your call.

There were still many letters in the envelope. She pulled out another. It was written in her grandmother's neat cursive.

Dear Callie, what is going on? In the newspaper it reported your parents missing. Why didn't you call me? You have to come to my house now. -Grandma

Then, on the same page, typed again:

Yep, I intercepted this message- I've been intercepting your mail for a while. Now your grandmother is out looking for you. And you might want to know-- when she comes home, she won't find your siblings.

Callie gasped, turning pale. But the letters weren't over yet. In official type:

Dear Miss Callie Lunomus, you have been summoned to the police office so we can find a home for you while we search for your parents.  The date at the top said Febuary 17. It was Febuary 29.

Then, finally, there was a note written with letters from magazines glued together.

If you want to see your family again, give me your amethyst necklace.

Callie sent it all to the police station.

Can there be fantasy in this too? Because I got an idea-- the kidnapper could be some sort of ice wizard and the necklace is magic.

Clode says Uheo. U hear so? Yep, I hear so. I hear her family's been KIDNAPPED!

Callie decided to go to the police office. The letter had been outdated, but the police probably still wanted to find her a home until they found her parents. As she trudged through the light snow to the police office, she wondered what the home would be like, how long she would have to stay. Suddenly she stopped dead in her tracks as a horrifying thought hit her. What if . . . What if her parents were well and truly dead, what if this home she was being shipped off to was going to be a permanent one? She shuddered, slumped on a nearby bench. She felt like her world was slowly spinning out of control, shattering into a thousand tiny pieces, then slamming back together in a cracked, distorted verson of how it was supposed to be. So much had changed. Her life had been hectic, and messy, but never this feeling of riding on a car with no brakes, the feeling that if it was to crash, nothing would stop it. No more bubble baths, no more family nights snuggling up to argue over what TV show and then watching the compromise. It was all disappearances and threats, lonely days remembering the good times. Callie rubbed her amythest necklace, as was her habit, and wished with all her heart that everything was back to normal. Her amythest necklace was the thing she wished on, not stars or birthday cakes. And she was wishing harder than ever when suddenly the world snapped. Not the world, no, that isn't right, it was like something in the back of her head twisted in such away she felt like the world changed in just a second. The air was different somehow, drier, and there was no snow on the ground. She looked over at a newspaper some one had left on the bench. It was the date just before the day her parents had left.
