Hi fellow CBers! I expect you are wondering what a Universal Apple is.
Well. I will tell you of course! A Universal Apple is a supernatural apple that does different things depending on what universe it currently resides in. The one thing it never does is be edible. But it looks like a perfectly normal apple, except when its abilities are not being exploited.
So I came up with this concept and thought, let's do an RP from it! But I will impose some rules...
These are all based on the fact that a lot of RPs have very busy plots crowded with an overload of characters and settings, not to mention the RPers having very little idea how to get all of it to make sense. So...
1. No more than three main protagonists. All other side protagonists must be comic relief or intended to play a minor role in the plot, or be part of a subplot (but that subplot must be reasonable and not crowd the main narrative, and we don't really want more than one such subplot). Please announce your intention of how your character will fit into the story when you create him or her.
2. One main villain, and one assistant/henchman/henchwoman to the villain. Did you see The Amazing Spider-Man 2? Did you notice that it had three villains? Did you notice that there was a lot going on? If the answer is yes, you understand the reasoning here quite well.
3. Just two or three main settings. Again, we don't want a lot going on, and we don't want to create a million settings so we are forced to jump all over the place wondering what to do.
4. MOST IMPORTANT RULE: We will develop this RP before writing it. We will form a basic idea of who the characters are, what the conflict is, and where the story will go. We will find a way for everybody who joins to play a part. And we will not begin writing the story until after that is all figured out.
5. And finally: the heartbreaker. Sorry... but if you see this RP and we're in the middle of it, you can't join halfway through. No exceptions. You can read it and comment on how we're doing, but you may not join officially and write in a new character halfway through the story. So if you intend to join this RP, you should do it before we begin writing.

Well this sounds quite intriguing indeed! I would like to say I am interested in this before I go to Iowa for four days in case it becomes too late to join by then, since I probably won't have computer time when I'm there. I'm going to opt NOT to create a character now (for various reasons, a few of them rotating around the rules) but I'd most likely be intrested in side-characters of some sorts.
Plus supernatural apples. How could I not want to join?

Name: Gavin Angel
Age: 19
Home universe: One which is almost exactly like ours... except that America is still owned by the UK and people have personal gravity override apparatuses, which are usually referred to as "PGravOverApps," and enable individual flight. Plus war was eradicated in 2002 and all guns are now outlawed and destroyed. Other than that, and the consequential results of these differences, it's pretty much the same. Catalogued in the Index of Universes as Universe 273.
Personality: Really quite nervous and unsure about things, and not sure where he wants to go or what he wants to do.
Job: Professional explorer. Not his choice.
Mission in life: No personal goals in mind, but was commissioned by the Universal Unity of Advocates for Universal Peace (which, at the beginning of the story, has not yet been achieved, though several alternate Earths have successfully achieved world peace) to find a Universal Apple. It is believed that once this is found, then the multiverse will at last achieve universal peace.
However, actually a bunch of power-hungry corporations secretly want the apple for their own purposes... but no one knows that because it's classified on the highest possible level in the UUAUP's files. Except for the President of the UUAUP of course.
Of course, we can talk about changing all this. It's not fixed.

Name: Beth Larson
Age: 17
Home World: (I'm going to go out on a limb here...) She lives in a world that has not achieved peace, but instead is in the midst of war. Everyone lives in safe house bunkers, and the whole world looks post-apocalypse. Universe #301
Personality: She has virtually two sides. One is tough, silent, hardcore, and sarcastic. The second is a more shy type quiet, often smiling a gentle smile to herself, caring, friendly, protective, defensive.
Appearance: Short, mouth length near pure blonde hair, pale skin, yet piercing black eyes. Pale freckles beneath her eyes, and a very soft pink color to her cheeks. Small for her age, yet caries herself in a very "you touch me you die" manner. Commonly wears army green or camo pants, a grey t-shirt, combat boots.
Job: Soldier. She lost her family due to the war, and has commited herself to fighting to both avenge them, and because she had few other options. She was determined not to go into the system, so she joined a ranking that allowed 16-18 year olds to train for combat and military. The war has progressively gotten worse, and many underage cadets were called in.
Mission in life: End the war. After that, she's not totally sure. Nobody at this time is able to think much beyond the fighting. Due to her young age and advanced skills, she is later commisioned by her government to search for the Universal Apple.

I forgot Gavin's appearance so...
Black straight hair, brown eyes, about 6'1", leathers boots and a trench coat over his Star Trek shirts, of which he has a different one for every day of the week.
We ought to work out a good idea of how and where the story starts, and where it goes. Again, we may change any of these things. I think it should start with Gavin, and then at some point while searching for the Universal Apple, he should cross paths with Beth. Any other ideas?
Is anyone else going to join/create characters?

Name: Khathan Everflight
Physical Description: Young female member of a wild flock of piontes, which are intelligent creatures about the size of a bobcat that appear somewhat like a cross between a dragon and a dog. They were domesticated by humans, but when they annihilated each other with senseless fighting, piontes got free and roam the wilds. Khathan herself is a pale blue-gray and unusually thin, with the large wings and fur around all four paws that are characteristic of a mountain-dwelling pionte.
Personality: Generally quite shy and retiring. Smarter than anyone (including herself) gives her credit for. Fears many things, including thunderstorms, snow leopards, and her oldest cousin Dru (short for Adruanel Thundertail). Has never been out of the mountains, but secretly dreams of seeing the world, including some mystical place called "ocean."
Home Universe: #317 in the Directory, a planet once known to the humans as Earth
Job: Khathan is in training to become a hunter, preying on the various birds and small mammals of the alpine meadows. She's not much good at it though, and would prefer to go after something bigger in the open sky. Flying, fast and dexterously, is probably her one strong suit.
Connection to the Universal Apple: Was the first to notice its appearance in Universe #317, while out on an unauthorized flight. She hasn't told anyone about it yet. In that universe, it looks like an apple carved perfectly out of nondescript gray stone.
Is it alright if my character isn't human?

@ Joe the Stickfiddler: That sounds good to me! Then perhaps we can meet up with Khathan? From there, I take it we're evidently going to go to different universes. So perhaps we try to solve the problems in each one we go to, while trying to unite the universes? For instance, we try to end the war in Beth's world. And the big, climatic problem could be the UUAUP? (You are perfectly allowed to tell me I'm high and can change all that.) These are just ideas I'm throwing out.
