I'm so worried

I'm so worried

I'm so worried about my APs and SATs. They are in about 5 or 6 years. I'm so nervous. Also, someone at my church is a guidance counselor in high school, and I had to do an annoyingly easy test. I only got 3 uncomplete, and I was so bored. Does anyone have any tips to prepare for SATs and APs? I think I might read the dictionary again, but that probably won't help. Has anyone else done an iReady test in school? It's an annoying computerized test that "Ajusts to your level". There is reading and math, and I was getting calculus. Geez, I'm in fifth grade. I might have an early birthdate, but I'm only onto easier stuff like trig, and sort of easy calculus. And I almost failed my math test because I copied my answers down wrong on the line. A stupid 84! That's the second worst grade I've ever gotton. The other was on a social studies homework essay question. I forgot to do #3. The answer was 30 years. Speaking of which, I have a really hard S.S. test tommorrow, and a science test on matter on the 19th. I hate tests. I get absolutly nothing wrong on every worksheet, then I do something wrong on the test. I am so stupid! I even got a C in handwritng. UH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Frustrated.

*bangs head on laptop

Ow. That actually hurt. You know what? I don't think I care about test grades. On all the important things I do perfectly, and that's what matters.

*Sits there thoughtfuly for ten minutes, forgetting about earth.

Oh, and I had an annoying thought: What do I want to be when I grow up? I want to be an author, but I wouldn't make enough income. I think I could be an editor. That would be fun. Reading awful, or good, books all day. Or be a sort of admin. It could be boring though. Who knows. I've already gotton about 300 dollars saved up for college. Only need a few tens of thousands more. Yay.

First, SE, BREATHE!

Relax, you're years away from it. It's always good to be prepared, but don't stress. If you're really worried, there are test booklets that help you prepare for SAT/ACTS. And there's no limit on the number of times you can take these tests.

Also, if an 84 is one of the worst grades you've gotten, you're doing PRETTY DANG WELL! Man, I wish I could have that be one of my worsts! A science test I took recently, I'm pretty sure I got in the sixty or seventies. And it makes me mad cause I knew the stuff.

As to what you want to do, do what you like. I'm going to be an author. I'm planning careers in writing and stuff, and even occasionally look at colleges that would work well with my writing career. But you're right, that may not be a very substantial income. So I recommend finding something you really like to do that could bring in a decent profit. For instance, for me, I'm going into the history department. Either being a historian, or genealogist. I really enjoy history, and I can easily see that being a career. Think about what you would enjoy, and could easily see yourself doing. But again, you have a long time to think about it! Don't stress too bad, just enjoy your youth! Pray about it, and God will lead you in what you should do.

S.E., calm down. It's way too early to worry about this. I just defeated my computer in an epic battle of will and mind, so I'll come back here when I'm more awake and coherent.

In my opinion, it sounds like you are doing really good! I am in seventh grade, and last year when doing my yearly testing, I scored high school level on everything minus math and grammar (and my math was still above average). For you, being in 5th grade allows you plenty of time to prepare for college. And good job with saving up three hundred dollars! Also, an 84 is really good (and I have gotten many scores worse than that), so I would just keep on working hard!

That was basicly my progress report, in the grade levels I'm at. I only average 8th, so I'm not that good in school.

Wait, you're in FIFTH GRADE. That's three years ahead! You aren't that good? THREE YEARS?!

I'm only one year ahead! Speaking of that, my school is REALLY boring. I want to go up a grade since I'm not really learning anything.

S.E.:

DO NOT GIVE A THOUGHT TO THE SATS.  They are six years away, you have nothing to worry about.  The SATs aren't everything.  Come to think of it, neither are grades.  If teachers at your school are stressing grades and making you panic, know that you are smarter than them, most likely.  And the ones who are smarter than you are generally super awesome.  Smarter meaning brain capacity and general intelligence, not test scores or anything.  Said the girl who just found out she's failing English.  Although, the one assignment I got a zero on I did kind of deserve...  I'm not allowed to say what I did on here.

You know that S.S. test I wrote about? Well, I took it, and guess what? I HAD FORGOTTEN TO STUDY!!!! It didn't really matter. I memorize things almost instantly, so I think I did okay. The two essays were really boring. They were:

39. Some colonies were succesful, and some were not. 1)Name one successful European colony and why it was successful. 2) Name one unsuccessful colony and give two reasons why it was unsuccessful.

40. 10 Name a cash crop. 2) What is a cash crop. 3) Name how it helped the colony it was grown in prosper.

Thety were easy. I also had short answers, multiple choice, and vocab. I didn't even need to memorize the JOHNS. John White, John Smith, John Law, John Rolfe, ansd King John.

Sheesh, my mom wants me to take it either this year or next year (7th or 8th grade).

Does anyone know how I should study?

Basically: They're easy. If you pay attention in class and have reasonable critical thinking skills, you'll be fine.

The one thing I would say is practice speed writing. The SAT has ludicrously short increments of time for the writing portion (I think it was 20 minutes per essay when I took it?).

Also, five years is a long time. SATs and AP tests aren't something you need to worry about right now. Stressing about it isn't going to do you any favors.

You're worried about SAT and you're in fifth grade? I'm not even stressing, and I'm in 10th! At the same time, I am getting ridiculously high scores on my practicet tests, so then, I'm not much help. Doing a lot of practice tests is a good way to spend free time; it really gets your mind into the test groove. But I still think you don't have to worry about that for a few years yet!
