I'm sorry, guys,

Chatterbox: Inkwell

I'm sorry, guys,

I'm sorry, guys, if I'm wasting your time, or you're sitting there waiting for me to get to the point, or... Just, I want to say something, and it would be great if y'all could read what I said. A listener (or in this case, reader) always helps me.

I feel like I'm no one...and not, like, in a bad way, like no one talks to me or something, it's not like that at all. I love my life! It's just... Well, I feel like I don't really have... How should I put this... A purpose. I'm just a normal teenage girl. Why is it important that I'm in this world? Why is it important for me to live the life I was given? I'm not anything special. I feel like I'm just another face in the crowd, but... I don't want to be. I want to make a change in the world, but... I don't know how.

I'm just a kid. What can I do? It's sort of weird how many people are in the world, yet only a handful actually make a change, a splash, something new. I want to be one of those people.

Don't you?

Nora, even a very little act can lead to a big result. Someone does something nice for someone else, another person notices and joins the cause. Many great movements have started that way. You don't have to be famous to make a difference. Being kind or helpful to one other person in your family and  picking up litter in your neighborhood are good purposes. You may never know how many people you've influenced. And as you get older, you may develop other or more interests and purposes.

Please read this next paragraph in a middle-aged male high school English teacher who is way, way too excited about this topic's voice.

This, Nora, is called the "thrownness of being". Once someone realizes they are thrust into this world, with no purpose whatsoever, they may feel bleak. But when they overcome that, they realize they are a free person- an enlightened individual. The enlightened individual is free to make their own decisions and not follow the herd- a group of people who all go around doing the exact same thing like lemmings (okay, he said sheep, but I like lemmings better. So lemmings.).

Congratulations! You are now free to make your own decisions!

Please excuse this rant coming up. My English teacher had AN ENTIRE UNIT on "What is truth?" and "Are we free indivduals?" and kept on going on about "When you have your thrownness of being, it's amazing and you'll all have it someday" and I wanted to yell at him "I had mine THREE YEARS AGO, so can you stop repeating that and actually say something new?" and he kept on showing us stuff that I've already known about/considered/reasearched and it was boring, boring, boring and the whole class kept on going, "Wow, I've never thoguht about this before!" even though we're supposed to be an advanced class, how could they have not thought about that stuff, what do they do all day?? My class is full of imbeciles. And I spent two weeks utterly bored out of my mind in that class. Mmmrrrphhhh.

Okay. I'm done.

And here it is: You don't have a purpose right now. As far as I know. So make yourself a purpose. Find something to do with your life. That's your purpose. Go accomplish that purpose. You can do what you want to do. If you want to make a difference, stand up and make that difference. You can do plenty if you try, if you show determination and guts. It all depends on what you want to do.
