Looking through some

Looking through some old threads, I found a thread about theme writing that I want to start up again.

For those of you who don't know what theme writing is, I'll explain! First, I'll post a theme once every one to two weeks depending on how popular the theme is. Your job is to write a short story, journal entry, scene or dialogue based on the theme. You will have to post under a different name, age, and location based on the theme. You can be as creative as you want. Any questions can be posted on this thread and I'll be glad to answer it as soon as I can!

Alright this weeks theme is...the Titanic!

Oh, Teresa, I love you. Thank you for picking Titanic! I'll write as soon as I can, I'm a bit short on time at the moment.

Hello everyone, this is Everinne here (you said I can't use my real name, but figured I might as well let you know who I am!)

@Admins: Emma Holmes is a made up name (even though I use it in the Hogwarts RP), so please don't shorten it.

I don't know if this is cheating, but I'm just going to take one of my own journal entries about Titanic (mainly the movie, but Teresa didn't specify):

I saw the trailer again last night, and I have a few things to remark about it. First of all, Cal chasing Jack and Rose around the water-logged ship seems like a true waste of time considering that the ship is going to sink. Hello? And shouting "I hope you die together." Nice cheerful wish, isn't it? Another thing is that Jack and Rose fell madly in love in, like, three days? I mean, I know Romeo and Juliet fell in love in one night, but I never really cared for Romeo and Juliet anyway. And R and J isn't trying to be passed off as history. It's fiction, but Titanic is historical fiction, isn't it? And Rose having Jack sketch her wearing only the necklace is taking love a little bit too far, isn't it? Or maybe I'm just willfully innocent, I don't know.

But Jack is so dang good looking, I don't really care! In all of Leo DiCaprio's other roles, I don't swoon, but as Jack Dawson I just literally die. I'm still so very mad that Mum won't let me see it! She promised that when I'm fifteen, I can, but I don't see what's so great about fifteen. She lets me see other PG-13 films. Bah humbug.

I sometimes wonder if the only reason I'm so into Titanic is because of Leo, but then I sternly rein myself in and remind myself that I love the tragedy of the sinking in general. And the irony of its unsinkability. And because I love early-20th century history. And English things, even ships on maiden voyages.

If that does not count, then I'll whip up a short story, but I hope you enjoyed it anyway!

The Boston Tea Party is a great idea!! Okay, so here's my diary entry:

December 16, 1773

Dear Diary,

It's a dark and quiet night. But in Boston, the men here a planning a sneaky protest! The Sons of Liberty are planning a political protest against the British. And guess how they're going to do it? By throwing packages of tea into the water!!

My father is a member of the Sons of Liberty and will be gone for the rest of the night. He told me that he and his men will disguise themselves as Mowhawk Indians and board ships to throw crates of tea into the water. I thought it was extremely risky. What happened if the British caught them? Would the British hold them captive? Or even worse, put them to death?

But we will see. My father has already gone- we'll see how the night goes.

Sincerely yours,

Nina

I hope you liked it! I look forward to posting more soon. Please continue doing this! :)

Yeah, you can suggest topics. Oh, and it is okay if you or anyone else wants to write about a previous topic.

I never got a chance to do my Titanic piece, so I'll do both.

My hand still shakes at the memory, but I know that someday, people will want to know what happened, so I'm writing it down in this here journal. I want people to know what happened.

My name is Abigael Smith. I'm a seventeen-year-old Irish immigrant comin' to America to join me brother, Seamus. I counted myself greatly blessed to be able to come to America on such a grand ship. Mrs. Olivia Bennet, comin' o'er herself from Britain, offered to take me under her wing. We were both second-class passengers, yet thoroughly enjoying our privileges. Especially me. If 'tweren't for Mrs. Bennet, I'd be in the third class. I myself been sailin' round three days now havin' boarded at Queenstown. Mr. and Mrs. Bennet had been sailing for nigh on four days, having boarded at Southampton. This particular night, Mrs. Bennet and I had decided to retire early, leaving Mr. Bennet to chat with the other gentlemen. I'd just fallen asleep, when I felt a slight shudder. I sat up on elbow to see if Mrs. Bennett had felt it, but she was sound asleep. I dismissed it as nothing, and soon fell back asleep.

"Wake up! Now!" Mr. Bennett was saying urgently, shaking Mrs. Bennett and me awake.

"Why, whatever is the matter?" Mrs. Bennet asked groggily.

"We've struck an iceberg and are going down fast," Mr. Bennett said, hurridly putting a warm coat over Mrs. Bennet's shoulders. I immediately went into action, pulling on my own coat and boots.

"Here," Mr. Bennet said, passing me a life vest. I strapped it on over my coat, and was about to follow him and Mrs. Bennett out, when I made a last-minute decision and grabbed a picture of my family, tucking into the pocket of my coat. Then I hurried out, shutting the door behind me with a sort of ominous feeling. I didin't realize then it would be for the last time. Then I hurried to catch up. On the main deck, people in all states of dress stood loitering about, unsure of what to do. The crew was loading life boats, shouting; "Women and children first!" Some were refusing to go, some where pushing to get in. Husbands and fathers led wives and children, gently urging them to go. Some asked to join, but were denied.

"Come," said Mr. Bennett, pushing through the crowd toward a life boat being boarded. I noticed the band playing, probably trying to keep people calm. The deck was starting to slant, and I could feel the fear of people mounting. We arrived at the life boat, the crewman starting to take Mrs. Bennet's hand to help her in.

"No!" she said firmly, pulling away. "I'm not leaving you." Then she turned to me with a smile. "Abigael, you go." She pushed me towards the life boat, and the crewman helped me in before I could even think.

"Wait, Mrs. Bennett, what about you?" I called as she and Mr. Bennett started to move away. She smiled one last time at me, and called; "Goodbye Abigael!" Then she and Mr. Bennett were gone. I watched, with a sort of horror. Some people still thought everyone would be saved. Maybe it wouldn't really sink. Maybe help would come in time. The Carpathia was on her way, wasn't she? But I knew, somehow, that many of us wouldn't make it out alive. After several people were loaded, some with small children, the order was given and we were lowered into the water. We started rowing away from the ship, and the farther we go, the more I could see the slant. We rowed out far enough till we couldn't be pulled down with the suction of the ship, and watched. The lights still shown hazily beneath the frigid water. The band still played. Then finally, it got to the point where people were jumping, or risking going down with the ship. We could hear the crashing of everything loose falling and crashing. The screaming of people. Then, finally, after what seemed an agonizing eternity, the ship disappeared beneath the surface.

Everything after that was a blur. We were eventually found by the Carpathia, and quickly brought on board. I was half frozen, and exhausted, both physically and mentally. I couldn't quite believe it, despite having seen it with my own eyes. I was taken in by another young couple who immediately started taking care of me.  We did finally make it to New York, and I was finally allowed to go home with Seamus. To this day, I hardly speak of that fateful night. I never saw or heard from Mrs. and Mr. Bennett again. The death list was released, but I never read it. I knew already. I owed it to Mr. and Mrs. Bennett for everything. If I'd been in third class, I probably wouldn't have made it. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't have been on that life boat. I wouldn't be able to write this down right now. This is how I was a Titanic survivor.

So how's that? I'll write my Boston tea party piece soon!
