Also, I invite your own.
1. What would you do if you woke up and found that you were your opposite gender?
I would freak. Then climb out my bedroom window (after putting on clothes more appropriate for a girl) and go find a scientist who might be able to help me. Or the chicken dinner. Either one.
2. What would you do if you woke up alone in a movie theater playing an NC-17 rated movie and all the doors were tightly bolted shut?
Consider whether or not to watch the movie or cover my eyes and ears and wait it out until someone found me.
3. What would you do if you saw a kid on the corner emptying a four gallon canister of baking soda into a postal service mailbox, and then once the can was empty he added four gallons of vinegar and ran away?
Call the police and report the kid for vandalism, since the wet letters would qualify as vandalized. Then bemusedly watch the mailbox volcano froth pour out.
4. What would you do if you went downstairs one morning and found Mr. Cabbage Face (the homunculous in Psuedonymous Bosch's Secret Series) eating everything that was in the fridge, then proceeding to eat the fridge?
I would ask Mr. Cabbage Face why the heck he was here and also tell him my mom wouldn't like it if a strange creature ate the fridge, then ask him if he could please get his food somewhere else.

@ JtS:
Thank you! I've never had to make a volcano science project, so I wouldn't know. But I'll have to try that sometime! *evil look*
@ Teresa:
Yes! I LOVED that show! I so wanted to be on it! I was SO sad when they took it off the air. Why do they always take the good shows off? But yes, I'm convinced my parents are in legue with PURRS.
To whomever asked,
Cutters Gap is a place in the Smokey Mountains, Tennessee, near a place called Del Rio. Cutters Gap is the setting of the famous book and show, Christy. Del Rio is the real life name for the town, though many know it as El Pano. It's really quite a beautiful place! Though if anyone ever does, I'd be careful reading the book or watching the show. It's got some inappropriate scenes in it that my mom had me skip/fast forward, and is really not for a younger age group.
(August 19, 2013 - 9:20 pm)
You've seen Christy too! I love that show, minus the inappropriate scenes. Otherwise, it is great!
(August 20, 2013 - 10:04 am)
I'M convinced PBS is in league with PURRS if they took Fetch off the air! Which they did. PBS IS IN LEAGUE WITH PURRS!!!!
I can still remember them saying "Pussycats Underground Rather Rotten Society"
Luckily, IF you download the FREE PBS IPad/Phone/Pod APP, (PBS kids Video) You can still watch most of the videos from the last season!

@Ima: Not sure I made this clear enough, but it would NOT be the kid's own mailbox in Q #2. It would be one of these.

@ Teresa:
Finally, someone else who's seen it! No one else has! I love it too. Plus, I've even been to where it was filmed, and where the real life events happened. It's a really beautiful area. Though, the real life Cutters Gap is quite different than how it's portrayed on the show. All the buildings, like the mission house, David's bunkhouse, and the school house, were absolutely microscopic compared to how they were portrayed on the show. They no longer stand, but the area where they were is just SO small! Plus, did you know in real life, there was NO Miss Alice? Nor Doc McNeil. In fact, most of the show/book is mostly made up by Catherine Marshall, who was the daughter of the real life Christy, who's name was Leonora Whitaker.
I simply despise how they end the series! The book ends in a similar way, with no clear choice of who she chose.
But *spoiler*
I found out she really did marry David Grantland, who's real name was John Wood. And of course, their daughter was Catherine Wood Marshall.
If you ever get the chance, I deeply recommend researching the real story of Christy. Both the show and the real life story are equally captivating. And I think Leonora even talks about how she went back with Catherine to visit Cutters Gap some years after leaving. I think, though not positive, that she described what happened to some of the children after she left, and they grew up.

David! That's who I was hoping she'd marry! (I didn't like McNeil that much. He seemed irrated alot, especially with his new assistant that Christy brought back from someplace. )
You've actually been to Cutter Gap?!?! You are so lucky; I'd love to go there! Do you know if they filmed the show in Cutter Gap, or if it was just staged in Hollywood or another place? That would be interesting to know.
I never knew that Christy was based on a real story! That is so cool, I did not know that! I'm definitely researching on this subject!
Did you watch the movie or the episodes? I've only seen the episodes from the 90s. It's interesting how they don't accept free things (clothes, shoes, food) from anyone without wanting to pay or giving something back. I guess it has to do with their way of life and culture.

@BHR and Teresa
Fetch is my favorite show! It was filmed in Boston so I got to audition for it twice. I never got a callback, though. I've been to a lot of the places on the show because it was based locally.
1. I would panic. I can't be a dude. I would be a little fascinated at first, but then I'd turn myself over to science and hope it would get fixed.
2. I would try to get out. When that didn't work, I'd sit back, relax, and just close my eyes and ears at the parts that made me squeamish. Oh, and panic about the doors opening. If they didn't open by the end of the movie, I'd break into the projection room and break out that way.
3. Tell him that messing with the mail is a criminal offense, and that he was digging his own grave.
4. Close the fridge and call my mom.

@ Teresa:
The shows are the only thing I've seen too. The show was filmed in that area, though not in the real Cutters Gap, for multiple reasons. I had to walk a ways to get anywhere because the terrain was so rough, the area is so small, and it's hard to find it too. But the show was filmed fifteen-twenty minutes away in a place called Townsend. Townsend is such a beautiful place! And every year they have something called Christy Fest, where sometimes the actors will come back to the filming sight, and they'll celebrate Christy for a week! They even go on tour to the real sites! I didn't get to go then, partly cause it's also expensive to go for Christy Fest, but it's still a really interesting place to see. Also, I had always wanted Christy to end up with David too! I agree about the Doctor. He just didn't seem to care about her the way David did.
*spoiler*
Btw, in the book, Doc McNeil's wife did die.
No, they wouldn't except gifts or anything because of their pride. For the men especially, it was hard for them to admit they couldn't afford these things themselves. And as you can tell from the show, the women weren't given much say so in things. Now, this was around the time women were trying to get the vote, though it hadn't been passed yet. Women weren't given much say so in a lot of places then, but especially back in the cove. That's why many men resorted the illegal moonshining to pay for shoes, clothes, etc. It's a sad story, with their pride and (not in a rude way) ignorance. Like what happened to poor Opal's baby! I just wanted to curl up and cry at that part.
*big book spoiler*
You might want to know this. Don't read if you don't want too, but you might want to be prepared.
In the book, Fairlight dies. Rather scarily. Her cabin is positioned where at a certian moment of the day, the whole place will be plunged into darkness by the shadow of the mountain, so it looks like night. Fairlight had always hated that. She had the fever, and was dillusional. She started screaming that the darkness was coming for her. The darkness came, and Fairlight keels over, dead. I couldn't sleep after that part. It was so sad and scary. I just thought you might want to know that.
@ Melody: Oh my gosh, that is so cool! I had actually looked into trying to audition. I really wanted to be on it! I'm sorry you didn't get a call back, but that is still so cool!!!!!
(August 21, 2013 - 9:38 pm)
@ Melody
What did you have to do to audition? I've always wanted to be on Fetch, but of course now I'm too old and they've stopped producing the show.
@Blonde Heroines Rule
Oooh, Chrisy Fest! I've never heard of such a thing, but it sounds interesting. From your description, it makes sense why they would not film in Cutter Gap.
*the following paragraphs contain spoilers*
McNeil's wife in the show was Miss Alice's daugher, Margaret, who he thought to be dead, even though she wasn't. In the book, is McNeil's wife stillMaragret or is it someone else
It's hard to believe in this day and age that a man back then would prefer to starve himself and his family rather than to receive food that they didn't earn. Yes, they were prideful and ignorant, but they were also strong and brave, especially the children. Think of the episode called Ghost Story. It is where Chrisy overhears the kids tease one family because of a superstition. Christy leads the kids into the cave, where either she or one of the kids (I can't remember which) got hurt. Some of the children had to find help by finding their way out of the cave, throught the woods and then lead help back. That's pretty amazing. Or think of Ruby Mae, how her father abandoned her. Think of the children, when most of them become ill. Ruby Mae hopes she won't die before having her first dance with a boy, then a boy (I forgot his name) asks her to dance in the night. One of the children almost dies, but doesn't. They are definitely brave.
I also wanted to cry when Opal's baby died.
What!?! Fairlight Spencer DIED? No way! She was one of my favorite characters!

@ Teresa:
Yes, I believe McNiel's wife was Margret, Alice's daughter, though I'm not sure. I know, it is hard to imagine. I remember those episodes. (I think it actually might have been Christy who got hurt, twisting her ankle or something). But I agree, the cove people are some of the bravest people of which I've ever read about. I loved hearing their stories of survival, despite it's tragedies.
*spoiler*
Ruby Mae actually gets married in the book too, but she's only fifteen. It's actually one of the parts my mom told me not to read, since it appearently gets... detailed, shall we say. In all honesty, I wouldn't recommend reading the book. It's far darker then the show, which I liked the show A LOT more than the book. The characters and events are far more interesting and relatable, and it doesn't have as many inappropriate parts as the book. My mom was debating letting me read it or not. She finally did, though, having me skip certain parts.
I liked the scene where Ruby Mae gets up to dance with Rob Allen (I think it was him). I'm not one for romance (like, will vomit during scenes of movies or books) but that part was sweet since they didn't ridiculously play it up, you know?
And yes, Fairlight dies, another reason I liked the show better. It's really sad. She had become one of my favorite characters. Then, I get to that part (my mom didn't tell me), and I think, Well, it's Fairlight, she HAS to get better! NO! She doesn't. She screams like a lunatic, it gets all creepy, and she ups and dies! I stopped reading for awhile after that. I literally cried. (I really need help. I cry more for fictional people than real.) But the one upside is *spoiler*
they emply when Christy gets sick at the end of the book that she herself is near death, and gets a glimpse of Heaven. There she sees Fairlight playing with her two children in Heaven by a stream that looks a lot like a place she and Christy used to go. I REALLY cried there! Oh gosh, I just sobbed! I'm crying just thinking about it!
So yeah, overall, the show is better, and the book is dark and rather risque. But my favorite part of every episode is the intro. I don't know what it is, but I just LOVE the intro. And yes, the views you see in the show and intro are very much real. They still exist, and are just as exquisite!
Btw, if you google Christy Fest, you'll find out interesting facts about the event and cast.

@BHR and Teresa
At the audition, you went into a room with someone from the behind-the-scenes aspect of the show in a group and each person was asked a question. My question both times was: There are penguins on your roof and you have no ladder. How did they get there and how will you get them down? You had to answer the questions creatively and truthfully. I guess they were looking for good critical thinkers with good personalities.
I'm actually wearing my Fetch shirt right now. They sold those shirts the people who help the Fetchers wore (the gray ones with a picture of a scared Ruff putting his hands up) and my mom got me one. I'm wearing it to bed tonight. :3
