New Story! The

New Story! The baseline of the story is about a rich girl, Emily, and a poor girl, Chloe, who meet at a boarding school. Although forbidden, Emily and Chloe meet and become friends. This story will be a RR and you can either write from Emily's point of view or Chloe's.

Emily:

Our family's white limo pulled up to the place where I'd be living for the next four years while my parents traveled around the world. I can't believe that they are just leaving me. Sometimes I feel as if they don't love me, they didn't even come with me to drop me off. Instead, they are at home setting up for a party for their friends.

The school, Lincoln Academy, was beautiful. The grass was lush and freshly trimmed. Apple blossom trees and weeping willows lined the dark road leading to the red stucco brick school. The school itself was four stories with white balconies on each level.

My driver, Henry, slowed to a stop in front of the double doors. After he opened my door, he went around to the trunk and pulled out my thirteen bags of luggage. "Are you ready?" he asked. I swallowed and bravely nodded as we walked torwards the doors.

Chloe:

I sat still as my mom brushed and braided my hair into two french braids. "Are you ready, Chloe? You don't have to do this", my mom whispered. I nodded.

Actually, I didn't have a choice. After my father died and my mother became ill, my family's income dwindled to nothing. My two brothers of 2, and 5 and four sisters of 1, 4, 7, and 8 and I were starving. As the oldest, I had to find work to feed my family. I went from business to business in search of a job, but was turned away each time. Finally, I found work as a maid at a prestigious boarding school known as Lincoln Academy.

I walked to the front door of the boarding school, ready for my first day. That was a big mistake. The mistress of the school, Mrs. Green, opened the door and saw me. "Who are you?" she asked, obviously disgusted. "Chloe. I'm the new maid", I said meekly, not daring to look into her stony blue eyes. "Why did you come to the front door? The door for your betters", she said. "I-I don't know. I'm sorry", I said. "Fine, but don't do it again. It looks makes our reputation look bad", she said as she led me to the kitchen.

Chloe~

I was working in the new girl's room, brushing the ashes out of the hearth. I knew that this girl was new because not everything was unpacked yet, making the room look and feel very empty. The room was extremely large and grand, complete with the very latest technology. I had never used a computer before, let alone seen one. This girl had a sleek silver one sitting on her desk. I was imagining how it worked, when a girl burst through the door. Oh no, I just couldn't get caught doing something wrong again. Startled, I jumped up and started to apologize.                                                                                       ___________________________________________________________________________________

Sorry, been SO busy! I'm glad this thread isn't dead!!!

Emily ~

I was startled to find a girl in my room. The same one I'd seen at breakfast, who'd tripped. She started firing off apologies, like she'd done something wrong by being here.

"It's all right," I answered simply. "You didn't do anything." The girl smiled thankfully, though her cheeks were red.

"I'm Emily," I said, trying to ease the tention. I sat on the edge of the bed, and motioned for her to do the same.

"I'm Chloe," the girl answered, sitting beside me. She seemed grateful for a chance to just sit. She stared around the room, a little awestruck.

"You're not a student," I said, wondering just what her position was, and why she was working at such a young age. "Does your mom work here?"

"No, I work to send money back to my mom and siblings. My dad died awhile ago, and my mom can't make ends meet by herself, so when this position opened up, I took the opportunity."

"Oh," I answered. I couldn't imagine being in her position, trying to earn money for younger brothers and sisters. I didn't have any, so the idea intrigued me.

Before either of us could say anything else, Miss Minchin hollered from downstairs. Chloe jumped up, said a hurried thank you, and ran out the door.

Chloe~

Emily seemed nice. I didn't want to leave when Miss Minchin hollered at me, but I knew my duties. I was already doing a terrible job, I didn't need to make friends with the pupils to make it worse.

"WHAT WERE YOU DOING?!" Miss Minchin yeled at me when I came downstairs.

"I was merely dusting one girl's room a little harder," I lied. "It was very dusty."

Miss Minchin raised her eyebrows but said nothing. I think she knew I was lying.

Sort. Sorry.

I was sitting on my bed thinking about how hard it would be to be Chloe. I never had to work hard at anything. I never had to earn money, we already had enough.

Ding ding ding! I could hear Mrs. Green ringing the bell for lunch. I wasn't hungry. I didn't want to endure any more laughing from Millie. I also didn't want to see her to do anything else to any of the maids. After all, I had just learned that many were there alone and needed to send money back to their families. None of the girls here could know how awful they must feel from such trickery.

Okay, that's all I can write.

Chloe ~

Mrs. Green kept assigning me difficult tasks, such as carrying heavy loads of laundry, washing dishes, scrubbing floors by hand, and running odds and ends errands. It didn't leave me any time to catch my breath, let alone sit down, or see that girl again. When I went to serve the tables, I noticed she wasn't there. So did the who tripped me earlier, Millie, as I heard someone address her.

"Where's Emilly?" She asked innocently. Mrs. Green fixed her with a stern eye, though Millie didn't so much as blink.

"Resting," Mrs. Green said, returning her attention to her dinner. "She wasn't feeling well she told Elise. She should be just fine by tomorrow morning."

Millie shared a look with the girl next to her, and they both giggled silently.

So, Emily's her name, I thought to myself, passing out plates of steaming food.

Suddenly there was a tremendous crash from the kitchen. We all froze in our places.

Then the cook burst out, and fixed a murderous eye right on me.

I had an idea!  Chloe and I could meet in secret at night!  I was sure Chloe would never get caught going to my room; it's right next to the stairs to the fourth floor.  If we were very quiet, and kept an eye on the clock, we'd be fine.  The hard part would be conveying the plan to Chloe.

I arrived in the dining room just in time to see the cook storm out of the kitchen and glare at Chloe!

"Ellen MacDonald's birthday is today, so I made her a cake.  Someone has stolen it.  Chloe Whelan has already shown that she dislikes Ellen by spilling juice on her dress, so she must be the culprit."

Oh, no!  Chloe couldn't afford to get fired for this.  Her family would starve!  I gulped.  I knew what I had to do.

THIS THREAD IS DYING!  HELP ME SAVE IT!

Sorry! I have been so utterly disgustingly busy! Woe is time where you're so busy DURING THE SUMMER!

Chloe ~

I stared at Cook in dumfounded silence. This didn't make any sense. Sure, I had spilled juice on Ellen's dress, by accident.

"But ma'am, I was cleaning the girl's rooms all day. I haven't been in the kitchen since breakfast! And even if I was, what would stealing a girl's birthday cake do? Spite her maybe, but that's all. Why would I wanna do that? What honest good would it do me?"

"It's true," Elise piped up from behind me, where she had been silently watching the going ons.

Cook considered this, but then the same fire returned to her eyes. "Well, somebody stole it, and no other logical explaination would point to anybody else but you! And maybe you did do it to spite her! Or perhaps you're jealous, but whatever the case, it's coming out of YOUR PAY!" With that, Cook stormed out of the kitchen, leaving me feeling miserable.

I sank down onto some sacks of flour, feeling like I wanted to just die. How can this happen? If I didn't do it, who did? Probably one of those boys who are constantly hanging around outside the kitchen door, hoping for some throwaways! They were admiring the cake this morning, and it would have been quite simple for them to just slip in here during a lapse between meals, and spirit the cake away!

The more I thought aobut this, the more certain of it I became. Suddenly, the kitchen door quietly swung open, and Emily looked in. Her eyes fell on me, and her expression became softened.

"I heard about what happened, and I saw what happened at breakfast," she said, walking up beside me. "I don't believe you stole the cake, and I know Millie tripped you. I wish there was something I could do... Do you have any idea who stole it?"

I told her my theory. After a moment, Emily jumped up, grinning like mad. "I KNOW! We'll go find the culprits ourselves! We bring them back here, and have them confess that they stole the cake!"

For the second time that day, I stared completely dumfounded.

"What?" I asked, to be sure I heard her right.

"You heard me, we'll go catch the culprits! We'll go tonight! If we're caught, I'll tell Ms. Green that it was all my idea, which it was, and that I simply pleaded for you to come with me. The worst that can happen is I'm expelled. I can't stand this school anyway, and I doubt she'll expell me, since my family is paying so much money to the school."

I thought about it. My job may be on the line already anyway. I've really got nothing to lose.

"All right," I finally decided. "Tonight."
