Round Robin!

Round Robin!
Round Robin!
Blast from the past! Let's see how many people want to do this one!:)
Sooooo. Out of the normal style of Round Robins, I'm going to introduce a world, or at least outline the basics. Then you guys can add the characters in and even add more detail about this specific world. Ok? Ready Go!
~~~~~~~~~~~
World Name: Dominum
Only has two major cities that occupy a large oasis within a vast desert. These two cities, are remnants of much greater civilizations but are very different. One has more of a Middle-Eastern feel to it both in the architecture and the culture. The other is more European. Both cities identify as their own countries and the Middle-Eastern one is ruled by a royal family while the other is ruled by a coucil of advisors and such. The relations between these two cities is diplomatic but strenuous. Neither city/country like each other that much, so there is enmity between the citizens of each city. However, the cities need to trade with each other in order to survive.
There are many nomadic tribes in the desert surrounding the two cities and it is a very primitive life but one full of freedom that life in the two cities does not allow. The edges of the desert have never been explored and the people who try to reach the edges are never heard from again. In fact, the maps of the world show just the two major cities, the smaller groups of nomads on the fringes on the oasis and then a large blank space labeled "The Waste" where the desert is. (Think Sahara Desert here.)
The Oasis is not large enough to contain these two cities and all their farmland so some people are running out of food and water. There is a caste system in these cities, but you can decide how strict it is.
The Middle Eastern One is named: Iltashi
The European One is named: Ortania
So I am not going to limit your imagination on this. You can add as much as you like to the world and create all kinds of characters. Basically let your imagination run wild!
(March 5, 2013 - 6:14 pm)
Name: Leslie-Alyss a.k.a Kay
Age: 12
Gender: Girl
Location: Currently Ortania though Iltashi wants me too for reasons soon to be explained.
Place in Caste: Currently Higher end.
Appearence: Auburn hair that crackles with electricity (though most people don't
notice), tan skin, bright green eyes, always wears raspberry lipstick, golden tank top, torquoise mini skirt.
Goal: To remember her journeys
Backstory: Rich merchant's daughter. Travelled to edge. From then on her memory is blank. Found stumbling around the outer edges of Ortania hence her location. Both cities want her because she could be the key to unlocking thesecret of the edge and possibly trading with the outside world.
Personality: Sweet, pretty, and smart. Slightly crazy due to lack of memory and a concussion that she aquired on her travels that gave her slight brain damage.
I know it! I liked this thread!
CHANGE: Hannah is a gypsy, living in the Medieval quarter. And she has black hair. You know, normal charrie changes...
I guess I'll start because this thread is dead...
Hannah-
"Did you hear about that new girl, Kay?" I ask my friend Lorelei.
"The one who was found on the border of the Edge?" she whispers back.
"That one. She's kind of a prisoner of war from Iltashi."
"We're at war with Iltashi?!" Lorelei exclaims.
"It's going to happen soon. That's what my brother says," I say.
"I can't hear a word you're saying, but I'm sure it's perfectly true," one of the old beggars says, walking up behind us. Lorelei jumps a little, and I'm glad she doesn't start shrieking.
"Alms for the poor?" the beggar says.
"We save all our money for art, you wretch!" a nobleman says. He slaps the beggar across the face, and the pauper falls to the ground. The nobleman turns away, and looks and Lorelei and me. He points at me and yells, "ILTASHI!" His face turns purple and has rounded up the interest of most of the people in the street. They look at me, and some start running, the blacksmith and the tinsmith not bothering to put down their torches. I run away, taking as many of the back allies as I remember. I only stop when the crackling of burning wood and the screams of angry citizens subside.
Yeah! It's started!
Lorelei ~
I walked home next Hannah, my one and only friend. She whispers to me about the new girl, Kay. I knew she was from the border of the Edge, but that was it. To find out she was a prisoner of war from Iltashi startled me. Suddenly, a begger woman calls something to us, making me nearly jump out of my skin. I despised it when people talked at me. Everything made me jump, especially since Gabriel left for the Edge, and hadn't returned. A nobleman starts yelling at the woman, and knocks her to the ground. I stay frozen, rooted to the spot. Suddenly he turns to Hannah and I, points at Hannah, and yells, "ILTASHI", then people start chasing her. I myself was nearly trampled to death by the charging crowd, and was knocked to the ground beside the begger woman. Finally, the crowd passed us by. I stood up, and brushed myself off. "Your friend's in trouble now," the begger woman said, shaking her head. I stared in the direction of the crowd, then hurried after. If I knew Hannah, she'd easily get away, but I still wanted to be sure. I slipped through alleys and back passagways, keeping an eye out for the crowd. I was about to give up, when a hand reached out and grabbed my shoulder, pulling me into another darker alley. I would have screamed, had they not covered my mouth first. "Don't scream, you'll tell them right where we are," Hannah hissed at me. My shoulders relaxed. She lifted her hand from my mouth. "Hannah," I said, breathing a sigh of relief. I looked at her. She was pale, but no worse for the wear. "Glad you're all right," I said quietly. "But, what was that all about?"
So, I stop here! So glad this revived!
Hannah-
"But," Lorelei pauses, "what was that all about?"
"They think I'm from Iltashi. People are taking sides in your part of town early. You know, the Rennaisance and all," I mutter.
"How've I not heard of this war?" Lorelei complains. I'm getting some dirty looks, and I have the sense that I'm not welcome here for much longer.
"It's mostly spread through the bordering quarters. Iltashi's been in a state of unrest for months, now."
"The Rennaisance was supposed to be revolutionary, but we always get the news last," Lorelei grumbles.
"Well, I can't help it if I look like the enemy. I have to go now, I'll see you tomorrow at school," I explain, then run off to my home.
This was my fourth psychologist. I had been treated like royalty the past few days and I honestly didn't like it. I knew though that this wouldn't last long if I didn't remember something quick and being banished would be way worse than this. I decided that I would make up a little of the journey this time. I told him about my life as a merchant's girl in Iltashi. I told him about the hardships I had faced when I lost my father to the great sandstorm when he was traveling to Ortania on a business trip to trade. I explained how I was adopted by a rich family. I remember my desire to travel to the edge and prove myself. I remember packing my stuff, running away and walking for many miles. That's when my memory stops and starts at collapsing near Ortania. I like Ortania but I mass Iltashi. The psychologist looks upset. I realize that with no new info to present to the king of this quarter he will most likely be beheaded. I cringe and tell him I need some fresh air. He nods his head which has become increasingly pale. I walk out into the streets of the renaissance quarter. There is a large mob of people running about so I duck into an alley. Suddenly a girl runs straight into me.
"AHHH!"
She screams and runs the other way. I grab her arm.
"Who are you," I ask as I notice someone in the background. "And who is she?"
"Wait, you don't think I look like an Iltashi?"
"What's Wrong with Iltashi?"
The two girls gasp and the one closest to me whispers "You're going to get yourself killed with that kind of talk. Who are you??"
"Kay, the girl who went to the edge. It's refreshing to find someone who doesn't know that already. Now, I asked you first. So, what are your names?"
(March 24, 2013 - 8:05 am)
Hannah-
"So, what are your names?" Kay asks Lorelei and me.
"I'm Hannah," I say. "From the gypsy quarter."
"Lorelei. Renaissance."
"What is it with al of these quarters in Ortania, anyway? It's so confusing."
"When Ortania was settled, all the groups kind of were their own cultures. The people who thought newer ways kind of moved out," Lorelei explains.
"And the gypsies are Iltashi immigrants that haven't found a good settling place yet," I mutter.
"Shush!" Lorelei says. A bell rings in the distance.
"I have to go, that's curfew," I explain. The bell rings again, and I start to run. I realize I've been doing a lot of that recently, when I run into an Iltashi girl.
"Sorry," I mutter, and continue on my way.
"Hannah!" I take a closer look at the Iltashi girl, and see it's my old friend Destiny, from before my family was driven out of Iltashi.
So, to keep this thread alive!
Lorelei ~
I watch Hannah speed off. I turn back to Kay; "I need to get going too," I hiss, glancing around. I didn't want to be caught out after curfew. The consequences were enough to make you shudder just thinking about. I nodded at her, then sprinted off, heading quickly, darting in and out of alleys, toward the Renaissance District. I ducked out of sight as officils passed by. Finally, I reached my small house at the edge of the district. Money had become quite scarce when Gabriel vanished. I lived in a small cottage with a small garden out back. I slipped in, and shut the door behind me, breathing a sigh of relief. I stared around the room. It was all wood, scoured into a whitish color. I went into my bedroom, and sat on the bed, looking at a picture of Gabriel. Suddenly, I heard a great deal of yelling, and I dashed to the window. The evening had become dark, and I could hardly see anything. I heard more yelling. I could tell some of them were officials. I ran into the front, and bolted the door. I tucked myself in bed, and prayed it all would end soon.
So, I suppose this really doesn't get us anywhere. I don't know what a Renaissance house should look like, but oh well. Plus, when I get a thought in my head, I'm prone to be stubborn and want it to look, just like that, so...
