Backward
Backward
This is a poem I wrote a couple of months ago. Please enjoy.
Do you ever
Feel like you’re
Backward?
Upside down?
Or just not where
You’re supposed to be?
Do you ever
Wonder why you
Turned out
To be
You
Instead of someone else?
Do you ever
Have dreams of
Far off places
Where no on
Has ever gone
Before?
Do you ever
Feel trapped
Inside a quiet
Room
Too alive
To stay still?
Do you ever
Wonder if there
Is something more
To this
Than what you’re
Doing?
Do you ever
Have hopes that someday
You’ll be free
From what ties
You back so you can
Fly away?
Do you ever
Feel like you’re
Backward?

YES!!! I do feel like all of that! You are a true poet!

Thanks!! I may post some of my other poetry on here as well; I actually wrote this poem for a story I was writing. The story didn't work out, but apparently the poem did.

Here's another one. :)
Born American
by Macon W.
I could
Feel my legs
Trembling
As I stared
into the screen.
The picture of
Thousands of children
Was staring back
at me.
I’d never heard
of them
Before.
But now I do.
Was it chance that I was
Born American
Instead of
Ugandan?
That I was born
free
Under the Stars and Stripes
Instead of
impressed into war
And sold into
slavery?
No
There is no
chance
There was a
reason
And I won’t let it go
To waste.
I was
Born American
For a reason.

It's really good, especially "Backward," because I can relate to it. Here's one of mine (sorry it's the wrong font, Admins):
How to write a story
Writing a story
is like brewing soup:
it matters not only what you put into it
but how you cook it.
Not only an exiting plot is important,
but high-quality writing, too.
To write one,
you must stay awake at night,
tire your brain completely
by trying to come up with ideas
for a good story.
Come up with one or two ideas,
narrow them down,
then plan out the characters,
the setting,
the problem,
and all those other useful elements
You can draw a chart,
if you’re more organized than I am
but charts are optional
Many head-shaped dents in the wall later,
find your journal,
and your treasured pen
walk to a tranquil place
(or busy, if you’re a more social person)
it just has to inspire you.
Begin to scribble down your first draft
you start off slowly
but your pen speeds up,
starting to run a long marathon.
Need ideas?
Look around you—
your surroundings will provide inspiration.
When you think you’re done,
read the story again
add a description here,
subtract a boring word there
move a scene to a more logical place and time
at one point, hand the story to someone you trust,
ask for constructive criticism,
if they say it’s perfect,
snatch it from them
and go to another person.
Reread, reread,
revise, revise,
and one day
probably months or years later,
you’ll read it one last time,
deciding that it needs no more from you.
That’s when you type it,
making it legible
share it with others
and listen to their praise
Your friends’ awe is enjoyable
but the best part is when they laugh.
Sorry it's not that good; it's a work in progress

Macon, I wished I lived in Middle Earth! *laughs*

Some people have all the luck. And right now, some people happens to be me!!!

You are an amazing author! Here's some random Haikus:
as I relax on
hot, sweaty day he flies through
window, he bugs me.
blanket's too itchy
book's too good, in truth all i
am is too awake

Backward is a very good poem! I like all the things you say. Be careful with the Born American stuff though. It is a pretty good poem... and it's true that the USA has more money and better Social Services and government (well, in my opinion, and the opinion of a lot of other people who live there, which is natural) than a lot of other developing countries, but it's really easy to sound bad talking about that stuff.
P. S. I am sort of an overly careful person, so don't worry.
