Haunted Houses
Haunted Houses
So me and my parents went to Ribfest today. (Ribfest is festival that celebrates- and sells- ribs.) As usual, there was a carnival next to it, and one attraction in that carnival was a haunted house. Because I've never been to one and think I'm only easily scared by spiders, I decided to go. So did my dad.
Weeeellllll, those five minutes felt more like ten. In the haunted house I went to (which was more like a maze), it was pitch black, so you could barely see anything. (But my dad had it worse: he was wearing prescription sunglasses and has really bad eyesight, so he couldn't take them off.) Anyhoozle, a bunch of people lept out at us and I screamed. A lot. And they somehow managed to make stuffed animals seem sinister...
So I have now made a resolution to try not to go into a haunted house ever again. Luckily, there are less scarier ones, I am told by my dad. He also said that the one we went to today was the scariest one he'd ever been to, which I think is a good thing because it means that not all haunted houses are [that] scary. And I probably won't have any nightmares. Oh yes, and on the bright side of going to the haunted house, I had funnel cake after.
So what are your haunted house experiences, if you have any?
Ohhhhh, the Haunted Mansion at Thumb Fun in Fish Creek, Wisconsin, was the scariest one I've ever been it. (Unfortunately, that amusement park no longer exists. The land was sold and they built condos there.) Like yours, you had to walk through it. It was pitch black inside. I could only make it if someone held my hand and led me. The scariest part was, like yours, there were real cloaked people inside, and they might gently brush your cheek or touch your shoulder, but you never knew when it might happen.
The kind I like better is a ghost train, or some kind of place that you ride through in a car instead of walking.
The same park had adult size bumper boats that were really fun! Everyplace else I've seen them, they're just a kiddy ride.

My sister goes to one every Halloween and it sounds SO SO SO SO SO scary, I can't even handle listening about it. It's put on by a local theater, so, as you can imagine, they have all the props and costumes to make it frightening. Chainsaws, fake blood, strobe lights, and every way possible on how to torture and kill is interpreted in this haunted house. I would NEVER go through it, or any other! :)

I've never been to a real haunted house, but my neighbors down the street used to do their own haunted house every Halloween. It's not that scary, and it's just a big black tent with lots of spooky decorations and two teenage boys in costumes that jump out at you. I used to be petrified of it, though. Hopefully I'll get to go to the Haunted House at Disneyland when we go this week! I'm so excited! :D

I don't do haunted houses. I went on this ride that was supposed to be mild, and my then 3- or 4-year-old brother loved it. I had to block my ears and eyes on that ride. I might go on the Haunted Mansion in Disney World, but only to see the special effects. I love special effects because I like to try to figure out how they work. I love those special features on movies that show you how things happen.
