Chatterbox: Down to Earth
RVs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, Kimberly B. mentioned on another thread that her family was traveling around the US in an RV. I was wondering if any other Chatterboxers have/are touring the country in an RV. Our family is thinking about buying an RV, selling our house, and going on the road, but we still haven't decided, yet. Personally, I think it would be a lot of fun, though it would be hard to leave our friends and to pack up all our stuff and downsize by a LOT!
If you have experienced an RV, was it hard to pack up all your stuff and leave your friends/schools/sports teams/etc.??? Also, what type of RV do you have? A class A, B, or C? We are thinking of getting either a class A or a class C. We thought a class A would be nice since there are seven of us in our family, but we like how the class Cs are set up and how they are smaller. Since my mom hasn't ever driven in an RV before, she can't really imagine driving in this gigantic "car" down a skinny road/highway, so we might buy a class C since it's a little bit smaller and thinner than an A.
Anyways, I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on RVs and your personal experiences.

Sorry that I didn't see this sooner, Princess P. :] That is just too awesome that you and your family are considering hitting the road. I hope that you guys try it out! It's a really amazing experience, not to mention a memory maker. It's totally "a lot of fun." I can't imagine living any other way now. It was a little hard to pack things up and downsize but now it would seem so weird to have all of the things we did while living in a house! We got rid of and donated so much stuff...I mean, how many socks and hangers and pairs of pajamas and blankets and cooking supplies do you really need? Cleaning out really made us realize how much stuff we had--and how much of it we didn't even need. Even now, in an RV, we still clean out once in awhile...I think we're sort of like minimalists now. :) We still have a load of things in storage. I wonder what it will be like to sort through it all again once we actually stop.
Leaving friends was a little harder to do, but with email, Facebook, cell phones, video chat, etc. keeping in touch is quite easy. Also, I pen-pal a lot (actually write letters) and I think that's a really great way to stay in touch, even though it does take a little longer than emailing. Also, every time you go through your "home" state with all your old friends you can all get together and that's always fantastic. Remember, distance makes the heart grow fonder! ;) Plus, I have made so, so many more friends on the road. You would be amazed at how many other fulltiming families there are out there. Quite often, we find out that there's another traveling family in our area and we simply go out and meet up; making friends is that easy while traveling! Even more exciting is when there are several families in the same area at once. That way, when you all meet up, it's like a mini party! :) We don't have a class A, B, or C because we have a fifth wheel. Have you guys decided on a type yet?
I hope this helps and I hope you keep us updated on what you plan on doing! :)

It would be sooooo cool to do that, but I'll probably never be able to because it's hard to take ducks in a RV, and I want to have ducks for as much of my life as possible.
