YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY IT&
YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY IT'S FINALLY GETTING WARM HERE IN IOWA! It's been like 45 degrees lately and the other day it was seriously snowing. In late April. I mean, come on, it's almost May already! It should not be snowing in Iowa. And I had to go ride horses in a non-heated arena. But anyway, it's finally getting over sixty five and warm enough to wear shorts and skirts and tee shirts, which is great because all of my pants are too short and I have AWESOME summer clothes, whereas all of the winter clothes I have left are either junky or too small.
Plus it means it's almost the end of the school year!
Sorry for the rant, it's just exciting for it to be warmer than 52˚ for once...

Awesome!! Where do you live? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. Or you could be more general, like the North West. Here in the South East, it's hot. Like 75-80 degrees every day. In the summer, it's nearly unbearable. Last year, I could only stay out for about 5 minutes. But I tan ;) Who can argue with that?

You call 75 degrees hot? Or do you mean that's what it's like in the winter?
(May 9, 2011 - 9:25 pm)
I am glad for you. I would never be able to stand that because then I would never get a Spring like I get here. You should see it when Spring is at its height here. It's long past but it's always beautiful while it lasts.
The weather here right now is hot in the late morning to early evening and warm all the rest of the time.
For a couple of weeks in April and March the weather was really weird. It got down to the 40s and 50s one day and was in the 80s the next. Considering how far south we are, that is really cold for March.
I think that we've been in a drought for 5 weeks now. It's really weird because we live on a swamp so it usually rains like once a week.

Oh, whoops, I forgot that I made this thread...
@MJ:I live smack in the center of Iowa, where it's supposed to be nice in April (but it rarely is). It's been warm and sunny for over a week and the dandelions are out in full blast. And suddenly our lawn needs mowing, two weeks ago it was dead and brown and now it looks like a jungle :)
I also usually tan instead of burning, but the other day I sunburnt my toes :( That's the problem with wearing sandals on a homeschool field trip to a lake in full sun on a 90 degree day...

@ Ima--75 degrees is hot (yet typical here) for April/May. Once again, that's just April and May. It shoots up in June-August. Even the local swimming pool becomes warm (which I HATE!!). I can't imagine how hot it is in Texas. How do you keep cool?
(May 11, 2011 - 12:03 pm)
@Ima: 75 degrees isn't hot???? Even for Farenheit? (sp.?)
Oh, and congrats Jess, for the warmer temperatures. It's becoming warmer here too! (19-ish degrees here, way better than being 0 or in the negatives all the time)

Are you using Fahrenheit or Celsius? I'd consider 19 degrees Fahrenheit extremely cold (but I love cold), but not Celsius, so I expect you mean that. No, I don't really think of 75 degrees as hot, just normal, warm spring weather. I'd prefer it if it were colder, but I really don't like the climate where I live.
MJ: Well, we don't go outside much in the summer except to swim, and we use lots of air conditioning. Other than that, we just have to get used to it, though it's really annoying.
Elizabeth D: I know exactly what you mean about the drought, though I don't live in a swamp (or do you not mean that literally? If you just mean it's humid, I do; I live in your area). It's raining right now, though! At least at my house. Yay!

Where do you live, Olive?
(May 11, 2011 - 8:36 pm)
Canada
(May 13, 2011 - 5:24 pm)
@Ima: You live in Canada or she lives in Canada?
(May 14, 2011 - 2:32 pm)
Well, to me it isn't that hot until it reaches the 90s unless it's Autumn or Winter. Right now if it went down to 60º I would be freezing, but in Winter that would feel like 90º now.
@Ima: I do mean it literally. That's why it's humid in Houston. We did get thunder and lightning earlier and some rain. I am glad it rained where you are.

I've been in MO for the past week and it was 85-100 DEGREES ALL WEEK. For me, a Seattle girl (well I don't live in Seattle, but pretty close), yeah that's a *tiny* bit HOT AND HUMID. I did everything but die from the heat. :) Now officially back in Washington, it's probably 70 degrees which is my absolute favorite temperature!

wow...here in socal i never get cold weateher...in winter the coldest it gets is around 52 degrees where i live...right now the weather is super sunny and approximately 80 to 92 degrees
(May 14, 2011 - 1:24 am)
@Ima: For the temperature I was talking about here, I was using Celcius. And I found a Fahrenheit to Celcius converter! I agree that 23 degrees isn't that hot. Well, it would be here right now but you live in Texas, oui? Where I suspect it has a probably warmer climate.
@Jess: Like, Ima said, I live in Canada. Mississauga, Ontario, to be more specific. :)
